I'm finally due an upgrade.

I'll get an N95 unless someone talks me out of it.

Dont get an N95.

I dont know anything about Phones. Apart from the fact that I lose them a lot. As long as it does phone calls and text messages, I dont really care.

I'd like to be like that, but sadly I am a phone geek. I can't help it.

I therefore want the one with the most functions.

I was looking at my cousin's N95 at the weekend and now I want one.

The screen is sooooo big.

I can text quite quickly. That my main phone achievement. When i was at Uni there was an article in the paper about the worlds fastest texter. I was only three and a half seconds off.

Sony Ericssons are the way forward, had a sony m odel of some description for the last 5 years now, tried a samsung this year they suck so swapped it for a sony.

my phone is spectacularly rubbish. any techno geek would doubtless burst into tears at the sight of it.

i was thinking of getting a new one, but my kids have just got nice shiny smart ones and i reckon i can steal one of those in a month or two...

I went through the "phase" of wanting a new phone a while back. I was convinced the new Nokia N95 was the one for me. 8gb memory, N-gage games, big screen, sat nav, etc, etc.

Then I had a moment and thought. Hang on. In 2 months times it will be out of date and I will be bored of features, and I'll be paying £30 or more a month for the luxury.

The conclusion. Ive kept my sony W810i and (as my contract with t-mobile is up) ive changed to their new Solo sim only tariff for £15 a month.

So if i do get suckered into wanting a new must have phone I wont have to wait 18 months.

I was also thinking about getting an N95 but am now thinking of getting an N82.

All the same features, a better camera and not as chunky.

Those of you who care might wish to know that I've got my N95 and I'm happy with it.

I also got a dongle, which I agree is a great invention.

Glas, most phones will let you view your emails. It's somewhat harder to send from your phone (which means that I have never managed it).

I have not had a shave since Thursday, I only went to work for six hours today, I am about to have some pasta and tonight I will see the Charlatans at the Music Hall with the rest of the Aberdeen Order, who will be here in a bit to drink beer on my balcony.

Not totally sure how it works, but I think you pay a 'Blackberry add-on' to your contract. You then log-in to your Blackberry account online and put in your e-mail details, password etc. and the e-mails come straight through. It won't work with hotmail though, only Yahoo!, gmail and the like. Not sure what the deal is if you want to configure it for work e-mails and stuff.

I shall! I've had my current phone for 5 years now. No need for a camera or MP3 player. Just wanna be able to read and respond to my emails on the move. And the Sat Nav looks handy. Does it work if you're on foot?

Yes it does, although I think you need to pay a suscription to someone for actual directions as each journey is requested and downloaded rather than calculated by the device itself like a proper sat-nav does.

I have read that the GPS receiver is somewhat heavy on electricity too. It would be a shame to flatten your phone battery over such a trivial matter as directions.

I've just been trying to get mine going, to no avail. I just want to see how much it will do for free. I think the guy in the shop said I could download maps to it for a one-off fee. I wasn't really paying much attention to him by that time though; I was horribly bored of him and was too busy watching girls walking past his shop.

It does a man good to spend some time walking around outside his office staring dumbly at his mobile phone though. I feel better for the experience.

Hmmm... been thinking about buying a phone with Sat Nav off someone but i get the feeling i'd be better off spending a bit more and getting a TomTom or something , a proper Sat Nav

The numebers are stored as contacts on the phone itself.

I could upload the whole lot to a PC by synchronising with Outlook, then sync the new phone. That's what I can't be arsed doing. I tried for a little bit but lost interest when I noticed that the fingernail on the third finger of my left hand was getting a bit long.

I prefer the organic approach anyway. Most of the people you really want to speak to have been in touch within the first few weeks. Anyone who you loose touch with in this way was probably not worth bothering with.
