Who needs any bands?
Maybe you had to be there to appreciate it...
Some cracking songs played live:
Now all you fucking geeks who complain about bands ripping off New Order and then moan about how nothing sounds like New Order should fucking watch this. And I'll tell you why, because if New Order wanted to put any effort into songwriting, instead of presenting dirge like Draculas Castle, Working Overtime, Jetstream etc, then they could be producing genius tunes like this. And then maybe you'll stop living in the past and creaming yourself over a DVD, the only highlights of which are trying to spot a load of people you dont actually know and some film which is 20 odd years old.

One day at Tower, this promo was being played. I heard the bass line and thought "DAMN, that's Hooky!" So, I looked at the credits. Hooky is playing the bass and Barney has back ground vocals.
Stefani brought the guys in the studio and asked at this time if they could write a song. The guys said no, but they did get on the record.
Because I much prefer Opal (aka Clay Allison) over their later reincarnation as Mazzy Star, this is a tranquil serenade that has always been a pleasure to listen to. The Opal album on SST, and it's a shame that Kendra Smith has disappeared since her album on 4AD....
if anyone plsys this song and fails to be moved, even slightly, i will kill them.
it took me ages to type that.
that is all.

i was having a MASSIVE pissed nostalgia moment. my little brother was playing songs from a compilation i made 15 years ago...
interesting threat - offering violence in exchange for a perceived lack of sensitivity. and a kiss! on the bottom of a post! whatterspaz.

Working at Tower Records, I saw a pre-release promo VHS tape of this. It was affecting. I had a tear running down my face.

hey, there's a tindersticks thread i put on further down the thread list ![]()
That's annoying. This has got 'embedding disabled' on Youtube.
Lovely song, but have only just seen the video for this for the first time - fits the track perfectly, even if it's been transformed into a load of seventies black lads, performing a number by a couple of white lads! ![]()

Artist is MGMT/Management,song is Time to pretend, good album..
when it was released this song excited me more than anything i can ever remember.you may have heard of them
A hidden gem. I love the juxtaposition of the happy, bouncy tune with the bizarrely macabre lyrics
By the way, Boatraceface, thank you for introducing me to MGMT!
Ace band. I've bought three of their songs on itunes now. Time to Pretend, Electric Feel, and Kids. Kids, by the way, clearly samples Living on Video by Trans X. Still a great tune, though.
I haven't had a look through all your videos, but I hope this suggestion takes to you as much as the Prefab Sprout ones did:
The Adventures - Broken Land

I heard this track on my favourite radio show, and especially loved the intro:
(20:11)
Since I still have no clue on what a 'bute' is (short for tribute? -or- the Isle of Bute?)... I'll put up another Bute, possibly the first Music Video ever?
Blinding tune Guv
Fuck sake.. just looks like a bunch of scousers after winning the Carling Cup!
