What do we exist for?

What do we exist for? What are we? I know these questions sound stupid, but I want to know what concept of our purpose there is besides purely religious explanations.

We want to exist forever, even though we knoe we cannot overcome Death, we have invented concepts of Heaven, reincarnation cycles, so we will be assured we'll never cease to exist in one form or another. But why is it so? Nobody proved otherwise, so far everything around us dies for good. Biologically programmed, we go nowhere.

Of course, we never can get beyond the Big Bang and what is outside our universe. Isn't that scary to think of? Religions really work to opress such thoughts, but you have to deliberatly give in to this stipulation.

Anyone has similar thoughts?

I don't know, I think there may be physical proof of life after, only we see it and give another name as we really don't know what we are looking at... from our perspective we just don't get it.

I'll give an example, we have energy. The smallest unit that everything is made of, all life is created from. Our initial idea is that it is the smallest building block, which it is, but what if it all comes together into one cohesive unit? When we die we become part of the cohesive unit, becoming one, yet also staying seperate. Energy actually fits the description of God in the Bible... but Christians would be up in arms at the thought, and scientists would as well... maybe we see, we just don't realize it...

There is no purpose. We exist so long as people live long enough to reach their reproductive age and secure the chances of their own offspring producing theirs down the line.

I exist to be a doormat for anothers. God created me this way because he loves me individually. God created me to be inferior to others on purpose because God is a sick cunt and when I die I will become an immortal who lives an afterlife of eternal bliss as a slave to this asshole God. Then when time ends it will be like a giant orgasm. And after the orgasm an another universe may be created.

We exist to make this cunt God feel important...

or maybe we are not all that important. The whole point of religion or spirtual is to make people feel important despite all evidence to the contrary.

Yes I'm inclined to think similar. When you think what your brain can creat and you can do - that will power, or ENERGY, - should go somewhere after we start decaying (gee, our capabilities may eventually destroy all molecular chains in the universe eliminating it and us). And yes, I agree we reunite with the Universe to become one - basically to become part of God, if talk in religious terms. But that energy is not really a soul in Christian meaning.

It doesn't go against it. There are too many Christians that are stuck on the Old Testament, and all its explanations. I personally believe in the New Testament, but inclined to believe the Old Testament is really a history of people.. with some mythology mixed in to make them have a story to say how they are better than others.

There really is no definition of a soul anyways... who's to say it is not energy... but people can't get past stupid words we've named items... if not for the 'words', I believe it fits quite well. Its not degrading the soul or elevating energy in the scheme of things... its just calling an apple and apple...

You can't create entropy in the same way you can't create length or time. It's a unit; a way of expressing an entity's ability to do work. A schoolboy error for a timelord.

The meaning of life is clear to me. To enjoy and to make what you can of the mystery of life and to enrich and be enriched by others. What else is there?

Whenever I doubt this I remember (approximately) what Godot said. We are born astride the grave. The light shines for an instant then it is dark once more.

How you fill that instant is up to you. Resist mundainity and default. Try not to piss too many people off, especially those who are larger than you. Visit at least one new football ground each year and always cheer for the team in red (unless you’re in Manchester, of course). Don’t spend too long in bed. Eat with your mouth closed and laugh with it open. Always pack a party tent. Dance when you want to. Try not to be a such a fanny all the time.

Good question. When someone you know and love dies, you prey they go to a better place. I dont know if thats afterlife, heaven, reincarnation or what. But I refuse to believe that when we pass away thats it.

There has to be more to it, doesnt there? Were just stuck on ths tiny speck of a planet in an eternal universe.

Everything we do, whether it be working, playing, drinking, fucking, loving, hating etc...is a way of killing time.
