Ah well predicted it could be the end of life as we know it this Saturday. Anyone who's read ANGELS & DEMONS the prequel to The Da Vinci Code,will already be aware of the LARGE HADRON PARTICLE COLLIDER they've got underground in Geneva.It's basically a giant ring 17 miles in circumference,which they'll fire particles through at each other to collide them.They're throwing the switch this weekend...

It's fascinating to read about the possibilities,but still scary that something this unpredictable.... scientists will have planned for every scenario they can think of,but what about anything they haven't.Everything's down to containment.
Looking up Nostradamus - He predicts that Geneva will go down in a white-yellow damp. And further he says that Europe will be contaminated for years. 
this is really exciting! i am very excited. bit of a shame some folk are going for the endoftheworld angle. a couple of months ago i tried to read some stuff on the LHC, but i didn't get far and just ended up doing some lying down instead. still find it strange something so massive and costly and important has had so little attention...

That's funny, I saw a show on TV a couple of months ago called "8 ways the world could come to an end" or something like that, and they talked about gamma ray explosions, artificial intelligence, meteors, volcanic activity, nuclear weapons, but no large hadron particle collider. 
Actually, the scariest one to me was the gamma ray explosion, because it would basically happen without any warning, and there isn't a damn thing we could do about it. Not that I'm the type to spend my time worrying about some million to one shot...
if yr a sad science twat like me yul av been waiting for this as long as the re-issues (not) so hopefully anti-G, blk holes , quarks etc...will be all now accountable in matter terms. Unless France explodes....who cares

It's just scientists playing like children with a scalextric, it'll not come to anything other than a massive waste of money, I think there are much better things that kind of money could be spent on, i.e. cancer research, aids research, parkinsons, heart desease, finding a cure for no holiday!
