edit: i'd like to clarify that it was the 'day today'-esque choice of phrase that provoked the laughter, rather than the heaviness of the fall. although i am quite enjoying the idea of me as some kind of morally bankrupt hard nut.

Anyone who thinks that Noel or Bongo or the Cure or anyone who's job is to make music deserves this kind of thing is just daft, or isn't properly thinking about it (and has probably never suffered from broken ribs, which is fucking painful).

It was a cowardly and dangerous thing to do and worst of all showed no imagination at all.

Now that microphone that squirted water all over Tom Cruise: that's the way to take a overblown, pompous celebrity down a peg or two. Added kudos for staring the knob straight in the face as it happened, and more still for not legging it immediately afterwards but hanging around to face the aftermath. Point made, nobody got hurt and everyone gets a laugh.

did anyone order a high horse? to be honest, i don't care enough about oasis to know the details of the attack. i don't really care if noel - or any other popstar i've never met and will never meet - is brutally shoved in the ribs or lightly tickled under the scrotum in the call of duty.

but if i thought for one moment this was a thread seriously debating the violence visited on human beings by one another, i'd be very very worried.

is this what the post-hadron collider world is like? no room for a guilty smirk at a big idiot taking a tumble? a black day indeed.

Noel should be grateful there wasn't a repeat of the Dimebag murder. What a horrible day. I remember it as if it were yesterday. At a Ministry show not so long ago, someone managed to sneak in a tear gas grenade, whatever that looks like. It makes you ask yourself, "What else could someone have done?"

And that's the scary thing. You're in front of a thousand people you don't know anything about. It's a million degrees and you can barely see anything past the stage lights and you can't hear anything other than the blurr of your music and random screaming. When shit hits the fan I can imagine the panic and fear from not knowing what is actually happening. When you get that pat down and the security guys go all Big Brother on you by checking your pockets you can sometimes consider the flipside.

i may have been being flippant, though. i may have been failing to take noel gallagher, the idea of him getting popped and a thread entitled 'o arses' entirely seriously. i routinely threaten to dangle my students out of the window if they don't stop talking, too.

There's no high horses involved here whatsoever. Go take a look at the incident and tell me if that's acceptable, or not? I fail to see how anybody can take smirk at that. There but for the Grace of God, etc.

I remember Liam getting punched by a punter during a gig in Newcastle in the mid 90's. Jo Wiley was doing a sort of live commentary on it after the incident. It's been broadcast again a few times. The bloke managed to get onto the stage, crack him and then dissapear into the crowd without getting caught.

As I mentioned on the other thread it's bang out of order. And yes Shug, I suspect you may be one of very few Oasis fans on this site. I for one think they are dull as fuck. They've never done nuffink for me.
