NOT BOOTLEGS YER DUMMIES!

G/f and father are both Peak Park Rangers in the Peak District (natch)

They walk for miles and miles every week,defo not my cup of tea too much like hard work!...

Anyways,i just got misel a luvverly pair of KARRIMOR walkin boots from sports direct half price for £39.99!

Bargain of the century!

Just to put the record straight,cannae ever see misen ont moors,on Ilkley moor baht hat and all that bollocks,just thought i'd get misen a pair like!

Comfy as fook anall,had em on in the house all day :lol: just to get used to em!

Going for a 3 mile walk 2moz to get em panned in,via several watering holes natch! :wink:

Years ago I would say never scrimp on walking boots as you'll suffer with blisters and water ingress.

These days though, with all these super duper materials, you can pick up a decent pair of boots (that will last you years) for next to nothing.

I still use some old timberlands that I originally got for show, but 18 years on they still do me.

I don't walk much anymore mind, but still :laugh:

I'm busting my brain trying to think if I have actually seen your feet......the reason being that you're definitely filed away in my brain as one of those people with "Mutant, next step of evolution, toes"....ie, very long, finger like ones....it's a sign of being highly developed, not being related to some family members more than once ;)

Best boots that I've used have been British Army surplus standard combat issue.

Solidly moulded soles, though flexible, they cover and give support to the ankles and are completely waterproof, comfortable and hard wearing with a good, deep tread.

All for just £25

I've used them for training, long distance hikes and everyday wear. Should last five years or so. Bargain.

definitely cheaper boots in the US. Was on hols in Boston December 07 and totally unprepared for their version of snowy weather, kind where you have to find your car and dig it out or wait till spring. Anyway, noticed all the locals were wering boots made by Sorel, enquiries were made and after visiting Boston's version of Quality Save me and mrs GaryMac emerged with a pair apiece, I spent about £25 on a pair of Sorel Caribou and very toasty they are. Also thanks in part to a decent exchange rate, a bargain fast-forward to November 08, we're in Snow+Rock at the Trafford Chill Factor and the bargain boots, which every fooker seemed to wear in Boston are £150.00! now that's some mark-up even for the Chill Factor

If I had known, I'd have stocked up on a few pairs

Best bargain I ever got pair of Berghaus leather explorers in 1999. Lilywhites sports shop was shutting in Leeds, they cost me £3. I wore them today to take the kids to school in the snow, good as new.

On the subject of Doc Martens, have worn them since 1988 and have never been without a pair.

I just stick with my old issued pairs. Work well enough, worn in and for the snow, one of the pairs is warm enough. Can't say they're the most stylish though :shrug:

Never buy Doc boots, but its the only type of shoes I wear with pants... won't wear any other shoe, hate the fake Docs like Sketchers that fall apart in 6 months...

I wear North Face walking boots and shoes. My Dad is an outdoor freak and when it comes to jackets, boots, clothes, bags, rucksacks - we're the best dressed family on any mountain, erm.....and walking through Edmonton.

I've just bought myself a pair of black Hunter wellies for 50 quid. To be fair, need them in the wet weather, and especially watching Joe play football. It's murder on those muddy footy pitches.
