Old mate of mine is in a band called The Vanguards. Their single, "Regress", is currently 'pick of the week' on the Maconie & Radcliffe radio show. Said single was engineered at Abbey Road by Jim Spencer who, as folk will know, co-produced a number of New Order's more recent tunes.

Worked extensively with Electronic (more so than New Order, obviously Barney's mate), The Charlatans and Johnny Marr as well.

I do like the single - it's very perky. It helps, of course, that the bass player is someone I've known for nearly two decades and that I remember him doing (actually precociously accurate!) Michael Jackson dance routines at school discos circa 1986). I hope they do well.
