In my own opinion:

Jetstream

Dracula's Castle

(No surprises I guess)

Krafty (Makes my list for the stupefyingly bad lyrics alone. Peter Hook's bassline for this song is actually kinda catchy)

Along those lines, Honourable mention goes to Turn My Way, for even though it's a gorgeous song, I love hearing it and Bernard and Billy sing their hearts out, the best part is the first verse, after which the lyrical content of the song completely flies apart. When I first heard the song, I was utterly mesmerized from the first words...Until this lovely chorus kicked in:

"I don't wanna be Like other people are Don't wanna own a key Don't wanna wash my car Don't wanna have to work Like other people do I wanted to be free I wanted to be true"

At which point I slammed my head into the wall. And it doesn't get much better from here. It's like Bernard was grasping at straws and picking out randomly rhyming words. For me anyway, it really hurt an otherwise beautiful song.

The trouble with Krafty was the chorus never quite achieves lift off. The verses are far superior to that chorus. Johnnie Walker is actually a big fan of the song, strangely enough. He always gives it a spin when he's sitting in for Terry Wogan's Radio 2 breakfast show. He's even played some of the other mixes of it too.

Though not officially a NO song, Barney's version of Sister Ray is the worst song they ever did.

As for Rock the Shack, I like Bobby Gillespie, and I like Primal Scream. But the song is shit.

As for Jetstream, there are a couple of songs I like by the Scissor Sisters...but this song is shit too IMO.

Krafty's grown on me though. The lyrics are terrorism??? I actually like the positive vibe in the lyrics and the music. Yeah the lyrics are typical Barney stuff but to call it terrorism is a bit far fetched. And the lyrics do not seem to advocate terrorism, IMO.

OK-I'll own up to an admittedly stupid joke: I was being a little silly. They of course do not ADVOCATE terrorism. I was making a joke that the lyrics are so bad playing them publicly could be CONSIDERED an act of terrorism. Yes it's a very positive song and it's bloody catchy and it grows on you, but you have to admit it's pretty laughable.

Jetstream is saved by its gorgeous remixes. As for "Run Wild", it's actually tolerable; at least one can say Barney came to terms with God.

Jetstream is an okay tune, but is a shit record. Turn My Way is ruined by Billy Corgan. I cannot stand that man. I don't even mind the lyrics, it's a great song, but Billy Corgan ruins it. I don't dislike Dracula's Castle, but those lyrics are just physically impossible to listen to. I can only imagine what the lyrics are like for the leftovers..

Well, we all have our opinions so to each their own!

I must say I'm actually quite fond of Every Little Counts, myself, but that's because it's hilarious. It's SO silly and ridiculous it's impossible to be taken seriously. The band sounds like they're just goofing around having a great time recording it, what with Bernard cracking up and Gillian's epic instrumental synth-crash to close it so for me at least it's difficult to not put a smile on too.

Every Little Counts is like an epic filler, a la Elegia, Avalanche.

OK ladies, I forced myself to sit through WFTSC yesterday just to see if I remembered correctly which track sucks the most.

Surprisingly, not only do I not hate "Dracula's Castle"... but if you gave it any other title (e.g., Ultra Tuesday) you could slot it right into side 2 of Technique and never know the difference.

Republic's second half can probably take care of this (sans Special, of course). Thing is, some versions are ace and others are weak. Paradise comes to mind. Much prefer the Reading 98 version to the Brotherhood take. Maybe that's why I don't rate Brotherhood that high...after three albums of GREAT opening tracks they kind of tossed off a plodding track with a cloudy mix. That's why I like Weirdo so much---a breath of fresh air even if the track succeeds mostly because of its break-neck pace.
