My dear friend Chris Olley (Ex-Mastermind of Six.by Seven) will release his first solo album in late November.

The music is very different from what Six.by Seven did. A man, his guitar and some mellotron.

If you'd like to check his stuff out, feel free to visit his myspace: http://www.myspace.com/chrisolleymusic

Thanks for your attention :shades: .

Yes I obviously am... *sniff*. And you'll never hear of them, because they don't exist anymore .

But hope dies last, doesn't it? ;)

Talking of Mr. O. there's more of him to be checked out if you like:

Six.by Seven's myspace Twelve (Chris' krautrockish electronic project) F**k me USA (Suicide meets Underworld)

Awww... look at that. 8 posts in a row.

It's like a mini Chris Olley forum.

one has to admire Bere's dedication to a lost cause.

I know it's fighting against windmills.

But I feel the urgent need to help this man whose music gave me so much throughout the years. He's talented, he's gifted... And no one cares about it... That's what makes me desperate from time to time.

I know what he can do. He's an amazing live performer, too.

And when I love music, I'm fan to the end (see my 25 year fanship for Simple Minds (which I'm going to see again this autumn :) ).

oh Bere, what a promotion. This Chris should really be grateful to have such a great fan as Bere. Ask him to pay you hehe

Well I got a numbered CD with No. 2 of 100 recently... He loves me obviously :love2: .

He needs promotion. He's a genious and he has a bunch of true hearted fans. And he knows what he owes them (us).

I hope you all don't just pity me here, but listened to what he does at last. C'mon give this guy a chance.

My task is that he'll get the X-mas No.1 in 2030. Help appreciated. :D .

U sure it's on vinyl?

He wanted to give some of his EPs for that day... But Vinyl? Gimme the link and I'll beat him up for not telling me  .

*Edit: I just found the link... No that's the CD not vinyl. Wow, I nearly got a heart attack.

Go and buy it, it's awesome. ;)

Two songs of it are here. "Lost Cause" is amazing.

"Chris Olley “East Of Edale” (Long Distance Runner 50 only)"

I'm pretty positive it's vinyl-only... Don't think any of the other releases that day are being released on CD?

I'm off on Saturday to pick myself some vinyl up! :thumb:

It can't be vinyl... His "Edale"-EPs are "homemade". He has a CD-R burner but no vinyl factory in his cellar :evil4: .

Let me quote the newsletter: "A new Chris Olley single 'Journey Through The Past' is being released limited edition with the EP, East of Edale. The CD features 7 brand new tracks as well as 2 live tracks from BBC Radio Nottingham. The first 100 will be numbered and signed.

50 copies will go in the shops for record store day."

They should be nicely packed in a DVD case.

Seen them live? Yes... In 2008. Their last but one ever gig. No one knew that there would only be one more...

Heard a bit of Six By Seven stuff. A good - if very underrated - band - who remind me of Spacemen 3, Stooges, Spiritualized, Valentines, The Cure, Boards of Canada, Krautrock (the genre), even Julian Cope - all rolled into one. Great big surging tunes with lots of attitude. Too bad they split because nobody bothered to listen to them in the end. Not checked out any of the singers solo stuff yet though, best have a look some time....

Chris is giving away a free 2-Track Download single.

It's wonderful. As if Six.by Seven were still existing. Download it and turn up the volume to full blast. :thumb:

Here's another great free track from Chris. I love the musical path that he is on recently.

Awesome Nine Inch Naily Six.by Seven stuff.

And now he's off to the Soundedit festival in Poland. He's there tomorrow right after Peter Hook. I'm looking forward to hear if he manages to meet him.

Yes even he's a little fan boy...

Well I just asked Chris.

They (he and Hooky) obviously met and enjoyed each other.

I wish I had been there.

Can Chris write songs?, cos Hooky needs a collaborator or two.

I don't think that Chris will ever again collaborate. Check out my links and you hear what he can do. :evil4:

You seem inordinately fond of this Chris Olley guy. I'm intrigued enough to investigate though.

Thanks :).

Well he's all that is left from one of my belovedest bands. Left in the meaning of active. O.K. there's the drummer guy with his boring shoegaze band as well (but that doesn't throw me off chairs or something).

Well he needs all the help he can get, so I do what I can do best - spam forums. :evil4:

His new stuff is marvellous. He's back to old form  . Check "The Blackest Soul" out. Download it and spread the word. (see older post "Here's another..."-link)

Burt's favourite Thread is popping up again.

Give Chris Olley's new 7 Track Download EP a try. It's very Nine Inch Naily.

It's here

You may listen to it there or buy it for 6 Pounds+.

And here's live footage from Poland (acoustic stuff):

"[...]I've decided to make the fourth six.byseven album available for download and it's completely free! It seems wierd that this album is now already 6 years old! six.byseven:04 was always my personal favourite album which is why I'm choosing that one to give away.

Please go and download the album if you don't already have it by clicking on the album image on the right and be sure to spread the word and tell your friends to do the same if you like it!

Thanks, CHRIS OLLEY"
