Had ours on the 1st Dec. Was a laugh. Free booze all night, 3 course meal, blackjack and roulette (fake money). Got absolutely wrecked. Then, as if not already had enough, went onto pub after and then (somehow) got last tube home.

Was sick as a dog the day after. And was racked with guilt that id made a complete twat of oneself and who did I upset? But turns out everyone was just as twat faced

Got mine on the 18th. Probably be the usual dull night out at one of the local curry houses. I work for a funeral directors so we can't be seen to be having to much fun! Some of us usualy go for a piss up between xmas and new year at an out of town venue which will be much more fun.

Work party 1 - vegas themed party at a club in picadilly (can't wait, and free beer)

Work party 2 - lunch, bowling and kareoke (hate kareoke so gonna get pissed)

Work party 3 - drinks and food in a bar

this is all in one week so means I have to work extra hard over the next few days to make up for the hangovers i will be taking to work....

Fuck Christmas parties. Part-time drinkers getting out of their depth and making bad fucking errors with people from their office. I usually take a break from it all around now and start again mid-January.

I think the whole of London has been parteying this week.

My trains going home of a night have been next to empty.

It's been ace.

Our Christmas do is a curry in Rusholme next Friday, same restaurant each year as it's my boss' brother owns it.

I'm going to do Doves/Super Furry's/Delphic instead.

We also have a company do in January at The Midland, with a big feed. I need to be careful at these though, I called the Chief Executive a Tea Boy at the first one :uhoh:

Parteying is a proper word. It's what American youth are wont to do.

What's wrong with the second bit?

My trains (plural) going home.

It's Engerlish, ner.

If anyone is remotely interested, I had mine (fnar) on Friday.

I got royally drunk on the way to Aberdeen, lunchtime bloody marys in the lounge and on the aeroplane, so had to seriously pace myself at the event itself, which was dinner and drinks in a posh hotel. It worked too. Everyone else was blind drunk and I didn't make a cock of myself at all.

Those of you who don't know me will say 'so what' and those who do won't believe me but I'm telling you that's how it went.

Got another one on Thursday. I'll keep you informed.

Cheers.

What on earth are you talking about, Nickos?

Absolutonly nothing wrong with my original sentence. I write how I talk. Actually, I could've put 'Me trains going home' as I'm wont to use 'me' instead of 'my' in open conversation but people tend to have a right hissy fit about such use of the language. Phillistines.

Anyway, for the record, it's my Christmas party tomorrow night.

It's gonna be shite, but it's free ale and booze so I feel obliged to show my face for at least a good hour.

Like Col, I will keep you posted.

Al it's 'partying'.

And 'train's', as it's an abbreviation of 'my train is'.

And don't argue :nono:

Eh? Therefore my sentence would then read, "My train is going home of a night have been next to empty."

What?

"My trains going home of a night" is exactly what I wanted to say as I'm referring to the trains (plural) I catch going home.

Obviously, they're not actually my trains - they're leased to First Capital Connect and I can't claim ownership of a single nut or bolt of them.

Nor do I take multiple train-s home in any given night - I usually find one does the trick getting me from A to B. I'm actually referring to the various trains that have got me home during the previous week.

Nor, in fact do they even get me 'home' - they simply drop me off at the nearest train station to my home, and I have to walk the rest of the way. It's a hard life.

However, my original sentence was exactly what I wanted to say and was indeed spelt and punctuated correctly.

I. Thank. You.

(And I still stand behind my parteying comment. I likes it).

Thanks for clearing that up, Al.

Ramblings!

I was just rephrasing it to talk about the trains (i.e. the steel contraption, rather than the people) going home - blame copius amounts of Belgian beer and lack of sleep for that... :p :spit:
