I'm pretty down on the Doors right now. The keyboard irritates me to no end.

However, Yes and Rush are a tie for worst band ever. Prog rock sucks ass (Pink Floyd excepted). What a pair of piles of fucking shit

Aside from the usual Snow Patrol, Razorlight, Kooks, that most people will spout, and quite rightly as well, some other forgotten 'gems':

Johnny Marr and The Healers were pretty offensive in their shiteness. Angels and Airwaves were so bad it was beyond laughable. The Horrors still rank up there as one of the worst bands I've ever seen

Tricky went to watch The Courteeners the other night. He said they were the worst band he'd ever seen, I couldnt really argue with him.

I once saw a band called Lucky Star who were amazing for their blandness.

BUt I think the winner has to be a band I saw in Hull two years ago called "The Holy Orders." They were local, in the sense that they were so shit you just knew they were on the arse end of numerous pay to play nights around Hull. Utter shite on every level. Shit songs, guitar wankery, 10 people watching and the singer saying "everyone is just a cunt, arent they?" with about as much conviction as the guy who does the shipping forecast.

Oh, tell a lie. How could I forget that version of Monaco from two years ago. That was dreadful. Urgh, I'm going to be sick just thinking about it.

The Feeling :nonono: persistently being exposed to that soft rock schlock "Never Be Lonely" or that one "Love It When You Call" (?) on the radio at work a few years ago nearly made me take a screwdriver to the radio. Supremely irritating.

As much as I dislike U2 - mainly due to Bonio's self important antics - at least they've done the odd good track over the years so I wouldn't necessarily nominate them as the worst ever.

The current online "push" to try and get Rage Against the Fucking Machine to No.1 just makes me hate them even more than I already did. Tuneless, posturing cunts who are effectively as fucking radical as your average teenage Trustafarian from Harrogate.

Oh, I'm no big fan of RATM either but I arguably hate them less than the preening tossers on the X Factor. I just sort of agree with the overall sentiment of it being nicer to see something other than a shit novelty record Simon Arsehole has decreed to be number 1. It's the lesser of two evils innit? Mind you, the charts are pointless anyway these days...

Wasn't there a group on Facebook to get The Muppets performing Bohemian Rhapsody to number 1 as well? I may swap groups

It said on the news last night that there were 20 million viewers for last night's X-Factor final. That kind of thing just doesn't happen anymore, does it? Pop music is about what's popular, innit, and you can't compete with that kind of mass popularity. Resistance is futile, etc.

I've had my rant about all this before (that shows like this help sustain a wholly artificial belief that we live in a meritocracy; that the entire process is just a glossy and exaggerated version of the dehumanising process of going through an "interview"; it's all about the reification, stoopid, etc.) but, y'know, I'm in the minority.

I'd prefer the Muppets' single too, like.

I watched X-Factor last night. I thought Paul McCartney was brilliant.

Deacon Blue. The worst example of the 'white soul sound' that my home town was unfortunately 'renowned' for in the 1980's; Wet Wet Wet, Hue & Cry, Hipsway, Love & Money etc etc. Nothing 'soulful' about any of those cunts.

I get what you mean. It irritates me since I was born.

I am sure there will be an extansive the Doors discocraphy in my cell in hell.

  • when I see this old show with the two blokes on motorbikes in California, I think of the Doors. And when I listen to the Doors, I think of these two blokes...

What's with the Leicester reference?

I grew up in the fair city of Leicester. What a fine musical pedigree the city has:-

  • Family (60s Prog Rockers you're favourite genre Agent Wood)

  • Showaddywaddy

  • Gaye Bykers on Acid

  • plus...wait for it...Englebert Humperdinck (who was entirely justified in keeping The Beatles "Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane" double A-Side single off the Number One spot back in '67).

There's also some modern beat combo whose name begins with a "K".

  • so no mickey taking about Leicester alright !

Oh 'touche' :p

Talking of greatly over rated music. Today I have just heard for the first time ever - Pink Floyd 'Dark side of the Moon'. Sounds like a poor Kula Shaker album to me.And that's saying something
