Ha! Yeah he does look promising,it was the initial photos of him that were off=putting. His new assistant looks fit!
There was a long trailer after Eastenders last night. Looks like 'Geerrrrrronimo!!' is going to be his catchphrase. Which could be annoying...

Eccelstone was really good,Tennant was Neil..Well he was'nt really,he was actually a fucking excellent Doctor once it got going, and what with time travel being what it is,the scope for story telling is always there, ergo, any bozo can be The Doctor......but if this new kid starts coming the cunt spoiling it with "Geerrrronimo" there will be a queue a mile long to glass the cunt, and rightly so...
I don't think they'll spoil it like that.Let's give the lad a chance...Obviously at the first utterance of "Geronimo" by all means glass fuck out of the scruffy daft cunt.
That would be a great pity, cos it is one of the best programmes on telly.

Must admit, I thought when the new guy appeared 'he's a bit of a c___'
Yeah the Gerrronimooooo! thing is cause for concern.
Should be a great source of amusement if a Dalek takes the piss and says it while it's giving the kid a slap with the old sink plunger

Well he just looked like a bit of an upper class twat, I thought.

It's a show that's turned into a perpetual nostalgia fest, shirley?
Some might argue it's the only thing the Beeb have in terms of "new prime time telly" these days which if true is pissing the licence payers money up the wall. There has been so much better and "new" TV abroad (HBO, The Wire, Sopranos, House, 24 etc) than David Tennant bellowing out "K-9" in a camp voice and trotting out all the old 70s-80s sci-fi stereotypes. If this is supposedly the pinnacle of British TV then no wonder the Yanks rule the roost. The only thing we maybe have the edge on is "alternative" comedy like Peep Show etc.
Tennant is a good actor though, that's clear and seems to be fairly likeable as a bloke. He'll probably bugger off to Hollywood now and eventually mint it so good luck to him.
To be fair in the UK we've had a proper Doctor Who overload on BBC channels throughout Xmas and New Year. In simple terms it needs to fcuk off for a bit even if only for a few months. It's totally saturated itself. I watched the 2005 series, thought Eccleston was brilliant and while Tennant taking over wasnae bad he tended to act like a hyperactive puppy most of the time. Catherine Tate finished it off for me; she's beyond irritation and was a definite downgrade in the looks department from Billie Piper and Freema Agyeman. Easy money for Tate as well as she just played herself I.e. a pain in the arse.
What that show needs is an exec producer and a Doctor the hardcore fans fcuking hate
then there's a good chance of it being a worldwide success
it needs a darker edge and dubious morality here and there. Eccleston's tenure touched on that but Tennant just took it back to being an eccentric twat dressed like a Geography teacher.
Sorry... I know this is sacrilege to some people ![]()

Spooks, Waking the Dead?
Gavin and Stacey? ![]()
Not a fan of Waking The Dead personally... just seems to be a vehicle for Trevor Eve to overact, rough people up and shout at them while Sue Johnson rolls her eyes at his antics. There always seems to be the inevitable bit where he gets hauled by superiors but still does it "his way". Bit clichéd. Spooks is alright but again if it's *just* that and Doctor Who up there on the world stage as quality pieces of British telly then isn't that a bit dire?
It's not all bad I suppose... there's normally a good BBC4 drama to watch and stuff like The Devil's Whore from a year ago is how it should be done. Red Riding as well. But unfortunately those types of shows require a budget for both sets and actors British telly companies aren't often willing to shell out whereas the US ones do it monthly. They're also probably a bit darker and less mainstream.
Don't get me wrong, I can sit down and watch an ep of Doctor Who casually and take it for what it is but the level of hype attached to it is bananas. It shouldn't be made out to be something it's not IMO.
When is the inevitable Blake's 7 remake appearing anyway? ![]()
OH, YES, let's make the Dr the same as every other show. As for a darker side???????/ the guy killed his own race off ffs.
Blake's 7 is unlikely....Terry Nation's family HATE what the beeb propose. Took them long enough to be allowed to use Daleks. (which were meant to be the enemy in the big war at the end of series one of B7)
Looks like there'll be a new episode or two with those statues that were in 'Blink'. That story was way more interesting and even dare i say actually quite scary than any other of the usual overdone bombastic cobblers nonsense with Daleks,The fcuking stoopid Ood or The Master jumping around overacting like an annoying twat.

Thank fuck someone finally said this. Spot on.

Not seen pt.2 yet, but with Steve Moffat taking command things could get interesting; especially as he wrote some Jekyll and wrote the best new who story (IMHO) 'Blink'.
The saturation has been less so in 2009 as we've had only the specials.
True that it's the BBC's cash cow, but there's no problem with this, just so long as quality control is maintained.
The past (nostalgia) is the future as Auntie can only focus on one big bucks series at a time...

Ecclestone & Tennant were fucking ace.
Don't like the look of the new lad though. He looks a bit weird.

I disliked both those guys initially, adored them both in the end, and would put them in my top 5, thusly....
Baker T. Tennant McGann McCoy [1] Eccleston
[1]While his TV tenure was beset by 50p sets, and video fx from the 1970's he was an exceptionally Doctory Doctor. His appearances in the Big Finish audio productions are truly excellent (these, and the BBC7 series are also the reason McGann gets on the list despite only actually appearing in that yankrape movie.)
By the by....McCoy is also the reason we know the bugger's lying about his age.....in Time and The Rani, he says the combination for a lock is "938, which is my age, the same as The Rani's"....and that 3 regenerations and a time war ago....he's not a day under 1100 if you ask me.
Have to say, as I may have before, that I had my heart set on a really grumpy old cunt in the Hartnell/Baker C. mold.....not impressed they gave it to someone who was swimming round their dad's balls when Tom Baker was in charge of the Tardis.
Well, we gotta give the new guy a chance. When David came along I was very unhappy initially, but he turned out to be fantastic. Same goes for Donna; it's tragic she didn't stick around for longer.
It'd be nice to have some Time War stories, although I guess they'd have to entice some of the old doctors back for that.
Who knows?
Yeah I HATED the idea of Donna, ended up adoring her. And those scenes with DoctorDonna were among the best in the whole 47 years.
As for the Time War....it depends how you look at it.....there is a Big Finish production called (I think) Conquests of The Daleks, which is really just a short audio history of their trouble with The Oncoming Storm, and in that they suggest that many of the actions of The Dr actually constituted the "first shots" of the war. But at the same time it seems obvious that it was Paul McGann who did most of the fighting.....in the American Rape, McCoy is taking The Master back to what appears to be a fairly normal Galifrey, and in Rose, Eccleston appears to see his face for the first time in her living room mirror.
In the Galifrey Audio series, Lady High President Romana(dvoratrelundar) tries to make Galifrey more accountable, open and approachable....allowing non timelords into the accademy and so on. At the same sort of time in BF Audios such as The Apocalypse Element she gets rightly ripped into the Skaro Pepperpots, big style. It's entirely possible, and even likely (based in how the Galifrey plot develops) that the utterly vicious Timelords and the return of Rassilon are both the conclusion of a nasty backlash again Romana's more groovy Galifrey.
I hope to fuck that while old Rassi's boys were trying to come through to Earth, some other Timelords/ladies got free......the worst thing Davies ever done was rob us of all those various loony timefolks....The Rani, The Monk, Prof Kronotis etc etc.....all barking, all apparently wiped out cos the Dr being the last timelord "sounded cool". I'd LOVE Iris Wyldthyme to appear on TV....but it'd be tricky since in Audio she is voiced by Katy Manning....and even though 35 years and some bad plastic work has rendered her fairly dissimillar to Joe Grant, there is still the matter of her being persona non grata at the Beeb after rubbing her tits on a dalek.

You forgot to include the cheeky grin you signed off this post with:

Hey I AM cool, to other lesser geeks :D
Besides, the shite I see talked about wank like Lost on here entitles me to rant and rave about a decent show ;)
Steve!
um... well... All I can say is that they have broken the line anyway since The Master popped up again in New Who (let alone the fact of the dalek's stop-start survival and Davros's comeback), so if there are 2 timelords who's to say that there isn't some super secretive Gallifrien refugee colony somewhere in Galaxy "X-9T" or something.
Maybe The Doctor will stumble across them, requiring him also to fall back in time to do something important during the Time War era.
It'd make a good series of TV movie specials along the 2009 lines; God forbid they should ever turn the idea into some cannabilised Hollywood freakture film.
:D

They already did a cannibalised Hollywood movie Mr W, see the Paul McGann era. To be honest Craig, it couldn't make Who any more patently low budget than it already is. They could have a go I suppose.

Very good. If there are no covert "ginger minge" jokes this series I'll be extremely disappointed.

Go on...
Not heard this one
One day Superman was feeling a bit horny. So, he began to ask his superhero friends for ideas on where he could get a bit of action. "Hey Batman! Who's good in the sack?"
"Well Superman, everyone knows that Wonderwoman is the best sex in comicland. Why don't you try her?", replied Batman.
I'd love to, but Wonderwoman and I are friends. So I don't really want to take advantage of her."
"Darn shame," said Batman as he waved goodbye to Superman and drove off.
Ten minutes later Superman was flying low over a city when he saw the Green Lantern patching up a building. He flew down. "Hey G.L., I'm looking for a little action. You're a swinging bachelor, who's the best babe in comicland?"
"Hey, Superman! Everyone knows that Wonderwoman is far and away the best lay in comicland, why don't you try her?"
"Well, we're sort of friends," Superman said, "but I didn't realize she had gotten around so much" and he flew off in frustration.
Twenty minutes later he was flying over a field when he saw Wonderwoman lying naked, in the middle of the field, with her legs apart and up in the air.
Superman was tempted. " MAN !!!" he thought to himself, "I'm faster than a speeding bullet, I can be in and out of there before she even knows I'm here." So with a blur and a sonic boom he was down, in and gone.
Wonderwoman stared up into the sky with a dazed expression. "What the hell was that??" she exclaimed.
"I don't know," said the Invisible Man as he rolled off, "But my ass is killing me."
