It's nice to see that the passengers on board the cruise ship docked in Haiti are at least thinking about the lot of their temporary neighbours.

"I just can't see myself sunning on the beach, playing in the water, eating a barbecue, and enjoying a cocktail while [in Port-au-Prince] there are tens of thousands of dead people being piled up on the streets, with the survivors stunned and looking for food and water," one passenger wrote on the Cruise Critic internet forum.

"It was hard enough to sit and eat a picnic lunch at Labadee before the quake, knowing how many Haitians were starving," said another. "I can't imagine having to choke down a burger there now."

The poor lamb.

But then again, so what? Is it any worse to enjoy luxury when someone else in the world is suffering? What difference does it make if people are starving around the corner or on the other side of the world?

Good question!

People are so selfish up here...

plus i doubt they booked the cruise after the tragedy - are they going to be exepcted to give up their hard earned holiday because of timing?

now the operatrs diverting the cruise elsewhere, that would have been sensible. do they offer anything to the local economy though? they need the help

No worries really. Pat Robertson told me it was a blessing in disguise. They should be able to walk around shoving a big juicy burger in their throat, while taking in this once in a lifetime experience.

Honestly the cruise ship shouldn't divert its traffic. It can let people know that it intends on bringing people to help with aide (minor stuff mind), or the people can be booked on another day.
