ok, so I finally have been talked into getting a facebook page... probably means its about out of style... regardless, what the hell is all the hupla about? what the hell is so great about it over myspace?

Who was that female Asian comedian said how all her mates persuaded her to get on facebook and myspace then got muddled up and invited her friends to "Come on myface"

That's great, I only lasted on facebook for 2 weeks, it drove me mad, getting sent imaginary chocolates, drinks and hugs from people who don't speak to you at work but pretend to be your mate online. very weird.
I only stick with myspace because it's better for music.

Where's my friend request then, pistol pete?

But thats what I hate about these things. Who do you request? Who do you add? What happens when you request someone who really doesn't like you, I'd just look like an ass. What happens when someone takes it personal that you never gave them an invite? What if someone gives you an invite, but you really never liked them to begin with, does it fuck up business relationships?
These things stress me out far more than it should. I thought these things were supposed to be fun!

It's alright.. I found the request. Now no bothering my illustrious Vikingette friends, young man.

Facebook is marginally less likely to send your browser straight to hell than myspace.
As to which is more likely to rob your credit card number, I have no data, not being dumb enough to log into any such site from any OS that came from Redmond.
I was wondering who that cunt who invited me was, it only says confirm or ignore, there's no carpet bomb option (I kid).

It's all if's and buts with Effbook, but you can run it like tight ship and have the odd periodic cull of people who get on your tits, and get hammered go on it and abuse all your family and friends, and in return be abused. It is actually fun. My own brother deleted me,I never took it to heart.Well I did a tad actually. The thing that irks me about Facey a bit,is I stupidly accepted my mother's friends request and she abhors my potty mouth.I'm contemplating deleting her,but I haven't got the arse to..
I await your friends request with excitement though Edelpops.

That's one of the many things I hate about facebook. No privacy. Every comment you make, everyone sees, and when someone comments on your wall, everyone else can see that, too. Well, I lasted about a week on f-book, then I said eff it. It's a decent tool for getting in touch with old friends, but a criminal waste of time, otherwise.
I think you'll find it's both educational and fun,Shells!
Nah,you're right it's not for everyone matey.
Sent BRF..
But what do you do when you get a request from someone yer not interested in? Some girl from my high school years i never cared for requested... don't want to be unnecessarily mean, I mean no reason to piss off people unintentionally, ya know?
Well you can do one of 2 things,Edel. I found out if you press the 'ignore' button, they kind of know you've fucked them off because if they go looking for you again,it won't say 'friend request pending' and they'll have to ask you again.
Or,you can do nothing, and by that I mean press nothing at all and just leave them hanging. It'll just say 'friend request pending' to them, and they won't know the difference and it avoids any offending,so it's a bit nicer.
I've got 3 that are just left hanging(4 now including yours :-)because I don't know them from Adam, and I've made the mistake of adding a friend of a friend, who turned out to be a stalker who wouldn't leave me alone.I wouldn't care but she looked like a bloke and I'm very shallow..No,seriously she was a total nightmare and she looked like a gadgie,so I blocked her,and hopefully that's the end of that..so you've got to be a little bit careful on it.

You can adjust the privacy settings more these days...and make exceptions under the custom privacy thing, so it's not like everyone sees everything you do.

That's good news, but to me, it's not worth my time to figure it out. I spend too damn much time on the computer as it is.
I got a request from someone I didn't know yesterday so I binned it. Was that you?
You can add a message to the request - worthwhile if who-you-are isn't going to be obvious to the person your stalking.

My eyes burn green with envy,Edel. Where can I get a John Wayne style double barrelled wanker's moniker, like yours?

Two things:
Received the loan information, its great! Not to mention the Man United ticket folder... very useful!
There were also these strange stamps inside, tossed 'em as I got a bunch of my jelly donut on 'em.
Though a little bent (damn postal workers).
You put my name on the damn envelope there bright one, and then ya didn't know it was me when I facebooked ya? (is that a proper verb?, que Nash)... that's ok I can take a hint

Sorry it got bent. The other shit was to keep it straight and I did write a nice note to postie, asking him to keep it straight.
Just invite me again and we'll say no more about your earlier subterfuge, okay?

I love Facebook, where otherwise can I chat to Col at 3 in the morining, although he hasn't replied to me lately and therefore is on the naughty step.
Seriously though, you can "hide" all the hug and gaming shite, it just takes a while to get used to it.
JT will eventually cave, especially when I change my password and he can no longer stalk you all!!!!!
LJ xx

Phwoar. The idea of being 'stalked' by JT (in LJ drag, no less!) gives me a right throb in me ball bag.

Twitter is becoming pretty popular here in Japan. 140 characters in Japanese is more than 140 characters in the alphabet. The key in Twitter, is not a 'friends' list. It's that you 'follow' someone to see their 'Tweets'. It functions somewhat differently than friends lists on Facebook. I follow Bad Lieutenant and Kevin Spacey, but I'm not their friends. I just 'follow' those accounts on Twitter to get info that they post about their jobs, their music, whatever.
A lot of ordinary people here use it as a mini-blog; you can write things that you feel are too insignificant or short to write on your ordinary blog. Here's a list I found on the Internet about Twitter. It's apparently a survey result from Japanese people about why they like Twitter.
You can see celebrities unmasked, in a way never seen on their blogs
There’s a lot of information circulating on Twitter you can’t find elsewhere
There may be lots of Twittering users in the same neighbourhood
You don’t have to worry about “writing” like you do on an SNS or blog
You may receive a reply from a celebrity
People you don’t even know will offer advice on problems you might have
Your followers may share new ideas which never occurred to you
Thoughtless tweets can cause huge arguments with lots of people involved
Following or being followed is an interesting system with diverse uses
The flow of information is much faster than with news sites or TV
PS- I agree with many of those reasons above.
Anyway, no one is forcing anyone to get a Twitter or Facebook account. But it's how you use those sites that counts. (On the other hand, blaming Facebook instead of the idiots who have unprotected sex with strangers is absolutely ridiculous.
)
