I want to trumpet a band from my hometown of Lexington, Kentucky.

Velvet Elvis formed in the mid-80's. They were a guitar/bass/drums/synth lineup composed of three guys and one girls (sound familiar?), although the girl - Sherry McGee - played drums. If you're a fan of classic college rock (jangly guitars, The Smiths, REM), you'll like this.

Wilfully Obscure blog has posted their original locally-available LP, as well as their Mitch Easter-produced follow-up which was released on Enigma Records in 1988.

'Velvet Elvis' is the name of a new trendy pub that opened up round our way,me and my mate went in it one night and on seeing that it sold Urqell Pilsner,I started telling my mate how id been to the Urqell brewery in Plzen,Czech Rep and that that it was a nice pint,so i ordered 2 pints up..

"2 Urqells please love"

"OK" she replied and proceeded to pour them,

"That'll be £9:40 please" :eek3:

It was at that point we decided just to go to our local.
