Poly Styrene out of X Ray Spex. Shame, twas only a matter of time before they reformed providing she could've squared it with Harry Krishna. Great singer, great band.

At the risk of sounding heartless, I fear that she had it coming to her - she couldn't stop herself from self destructing, so no, I am not shocked, just saddened that such a young person can make such a waste of their otherwise talented life.

She's obviously going to be held up as some sort of martyr now almost like the way Ian Curtis was/is - and that speaks volumes for the sort of fans who worshipped her cos she was such a hedonist.

again, hardly a surprise, it's a shame, but predictable.

Not a surprise at all, but still a bummer

A buddy of mine spun it like this. Amy Winehouse joins Cobain, Hendrix, Jim Morrison in the "dead at 27 club." Justin Beiber will turn 27 in 2021...so there is hope.

Beiber will have been completely forgotten about by the time he's 20, never mind 27.

Saw on 24 hour news "mourners" leaving full bottles of vodka at a makeshift shrine for Ms Winehouse in Camden this weekend. Fucking hell. It's like leaving a few wraps of heroin at a dead junkies' graveside. I've a feeling the last thing old Amy would have wanted when the ambulance crew were working on her was another slug of Smirnoff red label.

Always thought Camden was a bit of an overrated shithole overrun by wannabe rock stars in pork pie hats with fashionable drug problems. This weekend has just reinforced that notion. Pete Doherty-esque knobs in Trilbys will be regaling American tourists with stories of how they "jammed" in her flat in the final years no doubt... deeply tedious.

27 is no age at all though... sad.
