I read one rude, online review of this album, saying their Blue Album was poor. The first five tracks on Blue were brilliant, especially the fifth track You Lot (which Pete Tong played on his Essential Selection BBC Radio 1 radio show in 2005).
If Wonky lives up to this standard, I'm buying it! I'd love to hear what you guys think about it!

Loved the Orbital track in any case.
I bet the Daily Mail will be reminding us why the Conservative government of the 1980s banned the Hoffmeister mascot bear from appearing in TV adverts for the alcohol drink.
By eck the video for Wonky is even more mental. A sort of cross between Hitchcock (The Birds) and what it's like to do too much Meow Meow...
Now have they done a Duran Duran and sketched a video storyboard before even recording the track..?
If this is the second-best track on the album, I'll give it a miss. I'm hoping I'm wrong though. And Hitchcock - from the guys who brought us a cover of The Saint? Now you're scaring me!

Slightly different mix of "Never" from the free MP3 last year I notice.
It's brilliant! Can't stop playing it. Love the opening track ONE BIG MOMENT.

Not really into the vocals on "Wonky" but "One Big Moment" is absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to hear the whole album.

I love Orbital - missed them loads since they took that indefinite hiatus and now they're back, it feels like they've never been away.
Just like the old days - but hey, even Paul has lost a bit of weight!!!
Had it on fairly heavy rotation for a month now.
The title track is the stand-out, and grows on you. Hey even the kids might like it.
And Stringy Acid is the bastard lovechild of Chime and Pacific.

Hadn't listened to them at all in recent years but have now dug out the stuff i have got and going through them a bit again. May rip and copy the CDs to my phone as i'm more likely to give em a listen on the go than sitting down at home to re visit them.
Followed em pretty much from about 91 through to 2001. First thing of theirs i bought was , i think, a cassette single with Belfast on or Satan?
Last thing i bought was the The Altogether DVD in 2001. Saw em a fair few times 94-96 (Glasto 94, Tribal Gathering at Luton Hoo 95, Glasto 95, Ally Pally NYE 96 off the top of me head)
The Box CD single got a fair few spins on my hi fi back in the day. If i remember right it had 3 or 4 mixes all segued together with the final track fading out with this almost spooky whistling, very effective on each and every listen that.
Haven't purchased the new album yet but i may do. Not bowled over by what i've heard so far on interweb though :\ohwell:

I never got on with the moody album. The current one is comfortably the best since 'Insides' in 1996.

Love the creaky chair sounds on that part - always used to crank that up really loud on our sound system and our two dogs would sit there ears flicking up and down wondering what the fuck that weird noise is!
The Box is fantastic - I love the fact that it's in 4 parts and the fact that it builds its tension so menacingly with the creaky chair, the spy-thriller atmospherics and the spine-tingling fuzzy bass drones and the rest..... it's pure cinematic electronica par excellence and very few acts of their ilk do it better!

Dug out and listened to their mid to late nineties albums the last few days - Snivilisation, In Sides and Middle Of Nowhere.
I just don't get on with Snivilisation and In Sides anymore:\ohwell: Even Are We Here? and Attached off Snivilisation which were fantastic tunes when that album first came out don't do a lot for me now. That album and In Sides contain too much fair to middling mid tempo doodling that doesn't go anywhere when i hear them now.
The one album that still actually works for me is Middle Of Nowhere. Liking that one more now than when it first came out in 1999.
Not listened to their very first album and the second album again simply because i only have em on cassette so it's a bit difficult.
They've never topped Belfast in my opinion.

Saw 'em live the other night, and they were awesome. What really impressed me was the care they'd put into the shows - best-ever visuals plus turbo-charged "stadium house" versions of even the newer tracks (like Never).
Album is good - not quite as end-to-end brilliant as the brown album, or as intriguing as Insides, but very good.
But for a mind-blowing live show, they really are the top boys.
I love the album. I ever heard any bad album by Orbital anyway. That "Wonky" video makes me scared of my own cats.
Yip.. sounds like a hugely successful comeback. Live dates were initially finding their feet back in 2009/10, and the circle is complete, now having bust a few eardrums in the last week or two. Album is excellent stuff.
I hope other bands can do the same after a lengthy hiatus......
The production is really top notch. Crystal crisp and bass heavy. Playing the cd thru the DVD player a lot.
Have got a section of Wonky the track as my ringtone now the bit where the song goes off somewhere ace with the synths and beats and Lady Leshurr sings "This fear's taking over me" or is it "This feeling's taking over me" ?
