Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence

Way back in the 90s, Bernard picked this as one of the ten best tracks of all time for a Q magazine column, commenting, “fxxkin’ beautiful tune.”

I also remember Hooky, while the group was recording State Of The Nation in the studio in Tokyo during their first Japanese visit, commented in an interview that Ryuichi Sakamoto was to produce it and they had a high expectation for that, but unfortunately the plan was abandoned due to some inconvenience.

Sakamoto was to perform at the Manchester International Festival (MIF) this year:

KAGAMI (*n.b. meaning “mirror” in Japanese)

“A groundbreaking mixed-reality concert event created by legendary composer and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto in collaboration with Tin Drum.”
