"TAGGART JAMES IS SINGING DETECTIVE

Ex-Taggart star James Macpherson has become a singing detective.

He has recorded a string of his favourite pop hits with members of Wet Wet Wet and Hue And Cry.

James, 42,who quit Taggart in January after his character DCI Mike Jardine was killed off, is hoping to crack the charts and make Top Of The Pops.

He said : 'I'd love to make an album even if it only got to No. 99 it would be good enough for me'

Among the songs he has chosen are Stay With Me Till Dawn by Judy Tzuke and Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division - which he sang on Children In Need on Friday night......."
