Have y'all heard Mr. Lif's "I Phantom"? The best hip-hop album released last year, period. You really need to check this out, because, lyrically and musically it is just excellent. I recommend it to anyone who was into hip-hop when it counted, and doesn't like commercial crap that dominates airwaves currently. Try it and see...

definitely agree with you on this too david. cannibal ox has a great album on Def Jux and the RJD2 was better than Shadow's recent effort. have you heard the compilation Constant Elevation? That and Rapid Transit on Chocolate Industries are excellent blends of warp style, instrumental hip hop (ala Prefuse 73/Dabyre)with a handful of vocal tracks.
Pretty much anything that's released off Def Jux is high quality stuff. Agree about RJD2, that album is on par with Entroducing. At least in my opinion.
