Stone Roses. Comparitively short career but everything done was the business. Best debut album EVER IMO.
Having said that, The Smiths & The Mondays were top notch too.
Absolutely, the Roses all the way. My favourite band (and album - their debut, natch, not Second Coming) of all time, followed by New Order/Joy Division and then bands like Pet Shop Boys, The Smiths and The Fall.
Hate The Seahorses and John Squire's solo material, though. Post-Roses I'm definitely an Ian Brown supporter.
If I were a Fall fan, they would win for sure - understand why people love them, I just don't really get it I guess. So, without them... the Smiths easily.
The Bee Gees? Simply Fuckin Red? Take That? Yer having a laugh if you think people will own up to liking this lot
And Goldblade? You don't their mad percussionist do you?:D

The vote from the Shugster went to the Mondays, a tough choice over the Roses and The Smiths
Had to go to the Mondays cause they gave me a lot more pleasure over the years, the Roses probably came out with more great quality tracks, but for the energy and entertainment and a few great days out going to see em live.....it's the Mondays.
Between Smiths and Stone Roses. Voted for Smiths.

Sice i saw Ian Brown live i can't tolerate him. Nowadays i have to say that i prefer Seahorses over any IB album. Squiere plays three or four Stone Roses songs live. 
Hey I'm North American, most of these bands I don't know much, I think I know 1 song from The Smiths and none from The Stone Roses.. I've heard some of the Fall (thanks Tim) but I'm not there yet...
So I have to go with Oasis.. don't flame me too much ;)

It's funny. At the time the Roses split, everyone was saying that John Squire would be the one to go on and make great records, and that Ian Brown would vanish into such an obscurity as to make even Shaun Ryder look prolific.
As things turned out, the Ian Brown solo albums were the ones that retained the soul and spirit of The Stone Roses, with far more invention and killer tunes than Squire has come up with either with The Seahorses or on his own. That said, Squire is still an awesome talent and I'd especially love to see him play live. I just don't care for his post-Roses material.
As far as I know, Squire has played the following Roses songs in his solo set: "She Bangs The Drums", "Waterfall", "Made Of Stone", "I Am The Resurrection", "Fools Gold", "Driving South" and "Tightrope". Heaven knows why he hasn't done (or at least I think he hasn't) "Love Spreads" and - especially - "Breaking Into Heaven", he'd bring the house down. I'm not sure that he's played any Seahorses stuff, but "Love Is The Law" would probably get a good reception, particularly if he solo'd his ass off going straight into "Breaking Into Heaven".
To the best of my knowledge, the only Roses song Ian Brown has ever performed live in his solo career is - oddly - "Sally Cinnamon", although his regular guitarist Aziz Ibrahim has been known to tease audiences with snippets of "Fools Gold" and "Resurrection".
How about Crispy Ambulance - a band no one ever took seriously because of their name. Their album "The Plateau Phase" is a minor classic - years ahead of its time.
However, on balance I would have to say Durutti Column are my favourites. Vini just keeps going - I bought his latest album a month or so ago and it is brilliant.

Yep; I go for the same. Most albums I have from a band after JD/NO is Durutti Column. Crispy Ambulance also in my collection.

Yeah just the Nash bit. He was definitely at Salford Grammar and left in 1963 I think. There are some comments about him on the Old Salfordians website that he would bring his guitar into school on the last day of term and entertain everyone with his playing. Sadly I can't remember Barney doing the same with his melodica :D
Since the Smiths are the only band on the list I've seen other than NO, and since I had already seen them before I first saw NO, I guess there's only one answer: The Bee Gees!
