Enough visual candy to glaze your eyes over but got a bit bogged down in it's own mythology. Left you scratching your bonce a bit too, trying to get a grip on various plot ambiguities. Still, they've taken sfx to a stunning new realm and Carrie-Ann Moss can squeeze into leather and fly-kick my ass any day.

A slight letdown only, but the bar was set way high.

Go see it and wait until the credits have finished for the preview for Revolutions.

No spoilers please - possible Bank Holiday weekend viewing for me and mine.

I still haven't worked out the original Mattress so I'll mainly be going as an excuse to buy popping corn.

I'm hoping for a lot more fighting with hybrid man/animal creatures and some wagon chases. Maybe a scene featuring a horse and trap.

I just won a trip to a cimema out of a packet of Doritos. I have yet to check the samll print so I'm guessing Bank Holidays are out and evenings, so I'll probably have to venture over to Matlock(Derbyshire on a Tuesday before 3:00pm in January. Or just pay the 5 books.

Oh, I thought this was a thread about the TV show "Matlock", starring old Andy Griffith. He never met a client he couldn't prove innocent without stopping for a hot dog outside the courthouse.....wonder if that'll ever be a DVD collection? :shrug:

Anyway, "The Matrix" excited me just about as much as "Mr. Personality" hosted by former dry hump Monica Lewinsky....that is, not at all. I have no intention of seeing it, or contributing to the myth that Keanu Reeves can act. Sure, the first one was great....well, decent...okay, apart from the visuals I really couldn't say I LIKED the film, it was a bit hokey and "I've seen this somewhere before" and so on. Give me Blade Runner, Star Wars, and Battlestar Galactica any day over Keanu in a trench coat going "Whoa!"

You will thoroughly enjoy the use of an animatic badger in the climactic battle scene, Huckler. It was so realistic that people on the Net are suggesting they really did teach it jujitsu.

oh come on...nothing was as bad as Mr. Personality....i liked the Matrix, and even Reloaded.....but i do agree that Blade Runner, Star Wars, and Battlestar Galactica were 100 times better!!!

True to a point Tabs, however you shot yourself in the foot when you added Battlestar Galactica to your hall of fame. Acting? Sheesh, the likes of Dirk Benedict made Lorne Green look like Olivier.

The beauty of the Matlock trilogy is that the bodacious dude doesn't really have to say much. Hell, he doesn't even have to extend his range beyond "look concerned behind sunglasses", between fight scenes.

I Heard that they offered 2.6billion US dollars to a little known bear trainer in eastern Europe called Peter who had coaxed a live mammal into wearing sunglasses, acting generally quite cool and shooting up bitches in bullet time.

The bears name is a well kept secret but my sources claim it could be something like Graham John Peterson the IIIrd.

The trainer, Peter (or Pere Gwynt) turned the offer down, stating:

'The mammal is just not ready yet. We wouldn't do Crouching Tiger Hidden Pheasant for 150 and we certainly won't be releasing Graham for Matlock Re-visited 3. Only when I run clean out of dry sticks for the fire will I contemplate unchaining Peter and hiring him for adverts.'

Unfortunately since this statement the gorilla has since disappeared and rumours abound he has set camp on the Austrian border, fitting his cabin out with surround sound, widescreen tv and a refrigerator you could squeeze an antelope in.

As President of the International Dirk Benedict Fanclub (and it's only member) I strongly object to your assertation about his acting skills, he did such a good job portraying a frightened passenger in the burlap sack we placed him in just before my friends and I threw him into a lake........I probably shouldn't have said that, now the cops will be on to me! :nervous:

I realize that an actor supremely gifted with no talent such as Mr. Reeves is perfect for the role of Neo, I just wish he had gone the way of Alex Winter ("Bill" of "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure"...or was that Keanu?) and faded away gracefully after rewritting Hollywood cinema for the better half of the early 90s: "Premise is two dumb guys in a bizarre and unrealistic situation. Throw in plenty of sex jokes and we've got a winner". This begat Jim Carrey, which begat Pauly Shore, which begat Adam Sandler, which begat Chris Farley and David Spade........you see where I'm going with this, don't you?

Yep!!

Remember the opening credits to The A-Team, with Face on a film set where he's passed by a cylon, and Face has a "Don't-I-Know-You-From-Somewhere" look on his, er.. face?

Just a bit cheesier than the pilot episode of Stargate SG1, where Carter informs the team they had to "MacGyver" a device to operate the stargate. For any non-fans of this show, Col. Jack O'Neill is played by Richard Dean Anderson, who also played MacGyver.

Hmm.... perhaps I need to get out more. :nod:

Maybe not, but don't forget that 'Wolfman Jack' the DJ appeared in Battleship Galaxian when they visited Earth. Somehow, he wound up at a party at someone's gaff listening to 70's disco with a Cylon. The Cylon was not noticed because it was a fancy dress party. Even though that 'warr warr' sound emanated from the Cyclops when the red light passed in that bar near his eyes.

I think it ended when they all got bored and went home.

I haven't heard nor seen any notification about no Battleship Galaxian re-make rubbish. It was dog food in the 70's and it'll be filth badger on the remake.

Sorry to sound so negative but I'm still excited about Solaris starring Geoff Clooney, possibly the opposite to the predictable star fights of your Galaxian film. I only wished them darn Hollywood moguls would pay closer attention to developing original thought - perhaps even offering a new talent some work.

My intention was to rant about the remake, not praise it to the skies! As I said, Count Baltar is now a "Dr. Baltar", a character played, apparently, by an actor belonging to that species women refer to as "hunks"... Commander Adama is now Edward James Olmos (Harrison Ford's sidekick on "Blade Runner". You know, the moustache-wearing spinner pilot!). The Vipers are almost exact replicas of the original fighters. But I'd like to know how those distant brothers of ours got hold of those air-force-style stickers that the ships are plagued with... The original series, however, fall in the "so-lame-it's- actually-good-and-besides-it-brings-back-memories-from-our- childhood-days" category, wich is (such) a good thing!

Since it was the point of this thread, here is my review.. and don't go reading if you haven't see the movie.. Consider yourselves warned...

I must admit, the first movie simply caught me by surprise.. I actually like Keanu Reeves (another Canadian actor BTW) and I went when a friend of mine told me it was really good.

I wasn't expecting the Matrix to be what it was, that caught me off-guard and the rest of the movie was like eye-candy for me.

So alright, I loved it, I own the DVD, and I enjoy it altough I don't specifially like all the action sequences, IMHO, you can cut them and the movie would be good, it's the story that is interesting, all the CGI/Fight Scenes just make the movie longer.

After seeing the first movie, I read several comments that made me realize that this was indeed a movie based in the story of Jesus, so nothing was really invented, isn't it? ;) or any other prophet I guess...

So, here I go, 4 years later, wait until things calm down and go see it on a full price night to have peace and quiet (it worked, there were only a few people in the room) and expected to be disappointed because I had too much expectations, then.. well.. I wasn't really.

The only dissapointment is the same I had at the end of the first Lord of the Rings movie.. "Wait!!! That's the ending? I'll have to wait to see what's next?".. it's not a movie in itself, you NEED to see the 3rd one to complete it, and this is probably why there is no real "oh my god, I wasn't expecting that" because that will be in the 3rd movie.

Just think, I've read a few comments of people, and you have all clues to have a real surprise in the 3rd movie.. first, Neo is able to stop the machines in the real world.. so is that world real? How come an Agent become a human being in the "real world", etc.. so if those questions aren't answered in the 3rd movie, I will be very pissed!

I've read another comment that someone notice that the architect doesn't answer yes or not when Neo assumes the "mother of the matrix" is the Oracle.. he now assumes it's Monica Belluci's caracter, hence why she wanted to feel Neo's love for Trinity before making him choose at the end between his love or the other way.. (well, last part was my intepretation, because they guy told she wanted to check her own work).. that is possible, but who knows.. and Lambert Wilson's caracter is not enough present to explain how come he saw the "predecessors", and everything.

So actually, I'm not sure of what I saw, and I plan to go back to see it again when it will be shown in IMAX theatres (it should be within the next 2 weeks!) so maybe I'll catch more clues, altough I hate to guess what is happening in movies, I prefer to be surprised!

So basically, it was nice, but I don't think the action scenes were part of the reason why I enjoy the Matrix.. I was really bored half through the Neo fight with a lot of agent smith, because it was too long, and come on, even if done really well, the highway scene is much too long as you already know what will happen anyways... especially when you know that the only person able to fight an agent is Neo (as told in the first movie)...

Well, there are a lot of questions to be answered in the 3rd movie, and I seriously expect to have a major surprise on what is or isn't real, let's hope it will be better that what I expect it to be...

did you stay til after the credits to see the trailer for part 3?

i thought it was good but not great, plot a bit thin & very reminiscent of a hong kong movie where the plot is just an excuse to get to the next fight scene (or a porn film where plot just device to link sex scenes)

the car chase was rilly good, but so was the one in the bourne identity & that was a hell of alot cheaper

the fight against multiple smiths was good too - best one once he got the post

the matrixs bodyguard was a good character, just a shame they couldnt get jet li to do it.
