OK, old news. Old like as of 1999. But am I the only one a bit pissed about how the latest Madness album wasn't released in the States at all? I thought it was a worthy comeback effort, nevermind the filthy lucre. Why won't they tour the States, dammit!

Went to see the 'nutty boys' at the Royal Albert Hall in London a couple of months back with Mickey Way. They put on a decent show, played all the hits including a couple from the last album.

Included all the typical pantomime antics, Chris Foreman playing Guitar in the audience, running down the isles for a solo, Chas Smash doing the One Step Beyond intro from a box in the gallery etc. Becoming a bit of a cabaret act IMHO. Good entertainment mind.

Only dissapointing feature was the amount of taped music. Maybe the whole show was pre recorded :nonono: This became clear at the end of Baggy Trousers, they got out of sinc with their tapes, all stopped playing but the music continued loud & clear for another 30 secs. Dear oh dear. Few boos but they seemed to get away with it. Just.

Can't see them doing the States. For commercial reasons as much as anything. The costs of tours are only recouped thru album sales & I can't see them selling anywhere near the units they'd need to make it viable. Madness never were that big in the States/Canada were they? can't see 'em stoping the nu-metal juggernaught ;)

Ps

Suggs is currently starring in a West End musical 'Our House'. A rom-com overlayed with Madness' music. Haven't seen it so dunno how good it is.
