Are there NO fans who also like Linkin Park?

I know there are lots of people that hate them, and I should be one more, since I don't normally like american bands, whatever rock or rap. I wasn't into that "nu-metal" fever and I hate almost anything MTV play these days. But when I first heard "In The End" and "Crawling", I really enjoyed these songs, although I wasn't expecting too much of these middle-class american guys. So with their new "Meteora" they convinced me that they really can make great tracks, with a sort of sinergy with the powerful Chester's voice (try to sing alone some of their hits!) and Mike Shinoda's rapping. "Breaking the Habit", "Faint", ... I've enjoyed almost anything these guys have released since their first EP.

I don't claim they are as great as New Order or Depeche Mode, but hey they have only 2 albums and I think they are both very good!

Anyone agreeing with me on that one? Just curious to know if I'm the only crazy one here...

This subject should be discussed "behind closed doors".

Linkin Park and all the other American acts who sound the same as them are all crap IMHO;)

Trying to keep with the OFF topic theme...

Itchycoo Park for me every time:D

Røbertão, Tim, Hubert and me are going to start a band called The Avatars.

All I know about Linkin Park is what I've heard on the radio; my suspicion, however, is they occupy one of those rare intersections between quality and popularity. They're no Limp Bizkit, and that's a good thing.

Should I run out and buy their new CD, or break down and finally pick up...gulp...World In Motion?

Yes there are NO fans that like LINKIN PARK.:D

There are worse things to listen to than LP in the mere seconds it takes to push the disc or cassette in. LP, not outstanding but that RAP in the middle of all of their tunes I have heard needs to go. What are they trying to do with it??? "Hey, we be hip, let's add some rap about here." Or "If we add a rap chorus we casn appeal to minorities and wannbees." Regular vocals are not too bad but as soon as the rap starts it cheeses out IMHO.

If I want rap, Public Enemy, In Fear of a Black Planet. Everything else is pretty lame or too graphic, unoriginal, aeshtically challenged, and/or bad art. I can appreciate it as an art form but I also appreciate books describing rape and murder as art yet I do not want to read them.

A customer of mine runs their website/fanclub and can get "special passes" to their shows....

email me the next time they are coming to your area and I'll call my pal.

Cheers

Have you ever been a victim in a violent fight? When you know it's not true and you know it's not right?

P.S. So why did Muzik pick "Rebel Without a Pause?" out of the entire PE catalog?

I loved Hybrid Theory, but Meteora is re-packaged recycles shit that sounds exactly like their first album; so I'm not a real fan of them now, but I used to be one. *shudder* I feel dirty now

OK, I wasn't expecting too much response here. But I happened to like Meteora even more than Hybrid Theory. I know their rock+rap formula is far from being original, but simply as a music consummer I like their products. I hate Limp Bizkit but since the first time I listened to Linkin Park's "One Step Closer", and the lead vocalist goes on with "Shout" chorus (yes, that track by Tears For Fears), I felt like there was something a little different about them. Only the time will tell if I was just wrong...

Anyone who can get a nr 1 record with the name Chester Bennington deserves respect.

I think we're all responding negatively to the band itself, not the fact that you mentioned it. In other words, don't take it personnally :thumb:

Now, if I brought up Yanni again, I'd be banned from the site entirely

I felt something different about Radiohead about 10 years ago. And look now: s... of b...... that think all the crap sounds they're producing is music. I may be wrong, but there's a line, thin sometimes, that separates progressive rock/futuristic sound from pure crap. I think they crossed this line...:evil4:

Yes, I like Linkin Park. Bought Hybrid Theory, but not Meteora (yet).

As has been said, their product's not original, but they are the only act of that genre I'd consider buying. Basically, I enjoy listening to their stuff, and God knows there's material out there infinitely worse.

Well, I happen to know a Linkin Park fan who's recently become a New Order fan. The husband of a good friend of mine is into Nu-Metal and Linkin Park is one of his favourite bands. He also likes trance and basically all the music I don't like. He's a great chap though so when he mentioned that he loved "the song from Blade" I decided to enlighten his heathen existence and inform him that that was indeed New Order. I pass him "The best of..." and then I prayed and abstained from food for a whole week and Hallelujah! He says now that Pump Confusion is the weakest song of the CD and he has seen the light and might borrow "Get Ready".

'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

So, there is still hope for you Robertao

Got Hybrid Theory for X-Mas 2000 from a friend who recommended it, without hearing a track. Soon liked it, but wore thin, now I can't stand any of the nu-metal or rap/rock genre....that hunger in my Musical sector of my brain still needed something.

...And found it. :D

Can't stand Linkin Park (apart from In The End); they're not good enough to clean NO's shoes!

This weekend I've met one Linkin Park fan that really likes Blue Monday, Bizarre Love Triangle, True Faith... I've played Ceremony and he just got crazy and liked it a lot. So I feel there is a little hope... At least, there can be some Linkin Park fans that can also like New Order.

Although I don't think I'd use those strong words, I kinda agree with that shoes thing...

:music: /me listening Linkin Park - Breaking The Habit

Yeah, sort of (they could be harder). :)
