it was pretty decent. a bit soapy, but i'm glad they focused more on his earlier years and didn't get stuck on cleopatra and the alliance with egypt, as many programmes are wont to do. the battle against the gauls at the siege of alesia was a bit reminiscent of the battle of helm's deep in 'the two towers'! nice to see chris walken (although strange to see him in a toga!) and a fine exit for richard harris, as well.

Walken was in it?! Dammit, I should've watched. I got turned off when I saw a pic of Caesar on the cover of the local TV times and thought it was Neil Tennant.

walken played cato. it was interesting to watch the progression of his hairstyles throughout the four hours, then watch him throw himself upon his sword.
