10 Favourite Albums Of 20th Century? (and name and country)

Hi all,

I am writing on behalf of Dean Scapolo, a New Zealand music chart researcher, who is conducting a survey of peoples' top ten albums of the 20th century (until 2000). He has had 1240 votes so far - but can never get enough!!

His website is: http://hstrial-dscapolo.homestead.com/Page1.html where you can find his list of the top 100 albums he has got (of all his 1240 votes) so far.

Here are the rules (VERY IMPORTANT!!):

1. No 21st century albums, this current survey is for 20th century albums only.
2. No bootleg albums, these are not official albums.
3. Greatest Hits, Live, Compilations and Soundtracks are fine.
4. Show your dversity and try to keep to a maximum of THREE albums per artist!
5. TEN albums, no more no less. TEN.

ALSO - We need your NAME and COUNTRY!!! AGE is optional. Please - this is very important as we cannot use your lists without this information. Nor can we use your lists if they do not follow any of the rules.

Remember, you can only have up to THREE albums from any one artist. That means you can have up to THREE albums by New Order but NO MORE - the rest must be by other artists.

There is no need to include any New Order albums if you don't want to. It is up to you.

Indeed, I checked it out. No New Order, Cure, or Pet shop boys? Well, I think I did see one Smashing Pumpkins album on there, but it was probably Mellon collie and the Infinite Songs that Seem to Sound the Same After Owning the Album for Too Long. Or maybe it was just Sadness. I dunno. Either way, SP, a far worthier contender than the BSB's, did not have their album Gish on there. NO's Substance should have at least been on there.

Indeed, I agree. But it's not my fault that people don't vote for them. I agree at least one New Order album should be on this list - they were in many ways a classic 80's band. But it can only happen if it gets more votes! - I have no control over it.

How do you explain the fact that we have not posted on ANY Backstreet Boys forums? We have posted on 25+ forums and BSB is not one of them. But I agree that there are definitely other albums more classic than Millennium (though Millennium is highly popular by music fans of the late 90's).

Also remember that there is more than 100 great albums ever made in this world - they can't all be included on a 100-album list. Also some artists are more popular with singles than albums. Etc...

Please read this short notice from Dean Scapolo (survey creator):

I do not care if you want to criticise what is on the top 100 list. This list is made up of people's votes from around the world and it is their input that has created this list. While I may not agree on many of these albums that are on the list, I will never disagree with those that are in the top 30, even if they don't deserve to be that high up.

The majority of complaints are with: Shania Twain. All I have to say to this is. Get Over It! This is the biggest selling album by a female singer, and it is highly popular with the ladies. Savage Garden. They are among the top acts of the last years of the 20th century, and are extremely popular with people the world over. Meatloaf. This is a classic album, it is very popular with the Australians, and they always know a good thing when they're on to it! Madonna. While I agree this album does not deserve to be in the top ten, it does deserve a place in the top 40, it is her most popular album.

So, in short, if you think an album should be on the list, then VOTE for it!! Just include your name and country (just first name will be fine) and read the rules. Thanks :)

had a look at the site - says you can request a cd from them - you done that?

didn't have to, i just picked one up at one of their shows. they used to be local to here, but have since gone to Las Vegas to start-up a scene.

the CD is fairly pixies-influenced. it has some good production and remains very raw. all in all, i like it
