Hey, it's Sunday night, the Simpsons is a rerun, and I don't gotta go to school tomorrow. Let's shoot the breeze, folks! (smothered in gravy, Texas style!) :thumb:

So, what's on your minds, people?

the ankle that i twisted at Move is still very sore.

Thats whats on my mind, and has been all day. along with...

Why did Barrichello win the Grand prix?

Should i buy the new super furry animals cd?

And, am i the only undergrad student who is spending his summer doing his dissertation, when it isnt in until March 31st next year?

Amazingly, I too am bored crap-less, although I do have school tomorrow, and must be prepared to discuss some case law on Tuesday. And I have a paper due sometime this summer. Even so, I am having trouble getting motivated to put much effort into it, so here I am on NOOL instead. Only everybody else seems to be in Seattle.

Here's what I want to know. Every time I attempt to post an image (following the NOOL codes)it doesn't appear in my post. What's up with that? Suggestions?

After bombing my Monty Python speech Friday (went over time, and the audience didn't seem terribly awake) I brooded a bit yesterday but got over it by watching "Jerry Seinfeld: Comedian" (which I tried to start a discussion about earlier, but alas  ). That made me feel better, 'cause the other "comedian" featured on the film was a complete jackass.

BTW, I am harshly self-critical when it comes to anything I do, so chances are my impression of my speech performance are exaggerated. The world will never know, however, as I taped over my performance with some of Conan O'Brien friday night, just so I wouldn't have to find myself saying "I sound like THAT?". Let's just say my voice is a bit like Conway Twitty with a sore throat, and that's not a good thing...:nonono:

I just do the "img"-surrounded by [] thing, that works for me

Yes, I've tried that and it fails everytime. I'll try again now:

I rest my case.

Okay, what I always do is "img" with brackets, paste the addy of the picture involved, and close it with "/img" surrounded by brackets. That always works for me :thumb:

Perhaps the subtle humour of the "Queen powdering her nose" animated sketch went over their heads?

I haven't seen the Seinfeld tape, so I couldn't join in the discussion.

Yep, that's what I'm doing....I think. Not sure what's wrong.

Or this...

Could be whatever website you got the pic off isn't so cooperative. Geocities sites are notoriously bad about leaving you with a big red "X" where a picture of Eric Idle in drag was supposed to be...

Or Michael Palin as a lumberjack!

Well, I'll just keep trying...

Hey Blue ORder

Your linking from Geocities, they don't let you do external linking. There are a handful of web space providers like that.

Is this what you were trying to link?

Oh yeah, Tripod's a bitch as well about getting pics...the best bet I've found is Yahoo Images, they offer a broad (and sometimes totally unrelated to what you're searching for) selection of pics, most of which are NOT hosted by Geocities and/or Tripod. Don't give up! :thumb:

Here's another fave, climbing up the two peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro (or is it the two Kilimanjaros? well, anyway, the bridge didn't seem to work out between the two mountains)

Very good, WenOrder. Thanks Taboo #7 and WenOrder for the tips.

By the way, Taboo, in the midst of all my posts re pics is one just for you re your speech. Just a heads up in case you didn't see it.

I saw it...you'll be hearing from my lawyers :D

I think it was just more of having to go that third day (when there was only supposed to be two full days of speeches), everyone was ready for the weekend. I only hope I can wow 'em with my next topic: Holocaust deniers! :thumb:

Hey-hey-hey, I'm just a few shy of the 4000th mark :D

I think I'll get to about 3999, then make a big deal about leaving, then return tomorrow morning and celebrate while everyone else is asleep (or at work)

Or should I go ahead and do the 4000th post tonight? Do I win anything?

Make it count, even though everything counts in large amounts, because it's a competitive world, Taboo #7!

Between my post and PIP's, mmm, distraction, we seem to have managed to kill off the "The Person Below You" thread!

I didn't mean it ANY other way than that your sister, unlike some others on NOOL, appreciates Depeche Mode.

Oh, and congratulations to her (for the baby)!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the :headoff:

My post read "The person below me thinks Don and ShugZV are OMIGOD sooooooooo sexy!"

NOBODY responded. Having too much fun in Seattle, are we, or does it say something about our two guests?

(Hint PIP: It was a softball lobbed your way.)

If that's right, then I'm one of that 46%.

Other stuff on my mind:

  1. Will I have a job to go to next week?
  2. Insects are evil (my legs are covered in bites from being away)
  3. Why's it so cloudy where I am?
