Harmony Central review: (not by me)Features: 8Gibson ES335 style semi acoustic, two no name pickups, each with tone control and a pickup selector. Standard issue tuners and es335 style bridge and a glued neck. All exactly as you'd find on the genuine 3 grand instrument, but no doubt lower in the quality department.Sound: 8Intended for blues and indie rock, and I guess clean more than distorted, but I play both distorted and clean and it sounds great. Has a solid block down the centre to give a more solid sound, and there is only feedback when its asked for. The clean sound is truly stunning, and the tone controls do a good job, though there is nowhere near the range you can get with something like a Les Paul or a Strat.Action, Fit, & Finish: 9Set up very nicely by the store I bought it in, and so far I have found nothing wrong with any of it. The bridge is well machined, there are no rough edges and the switches and knobs feel secure and reassuring. Its a little front pickup biased, which I'm not sure of the cause of, but it may be a setup thing. The finish is really nice. Deep red with the wood showing through. Gloss finish but not garish, and the hardware is shiny. White pickguard and trim. If it said Gibson on the headstock, you wouldn't doubt it to look.Reliability/Durability: N/ALooks well built, but I haven't had it long, so there is no point saying.Customer Support: N/ARockers on Denmark Street (London, England) are a great store and gave me a twelve month free servicing and repair guarantee, as well as a great deal. Never had a problem with my other Tanglewood (peacemaker bass) that took any more than a quick ten minute filing to sort, so I have no idea whether or not they are a decent company to deal with.Overall Rating: 9This is my first electric, though I have played bass three years and acoustic on and off for a year. I'm playing it with a pro co rat distortion pedal, a mini Qtron (both from my bass setup) and a marshall dfx30 amp, which I got with the guitar.I played a lot of semi acoustics, such as epiphone, ibanez, aria and gibson. The gibson is best, but it's ten times the price. This may have been the cherapest of the four I could afford, but it played better than the epiphone and aria, and as well as the ibanez, and looked better than all bar the ephiphone. I also played westfield and epiphone les paul and SG copies, and a PRS copy, but the semi was what I really wanted. I might get a telecaster to handle the really trebly stuff at some point, but for straight rock I am very happy with this.
