I've seen some of those white sleeved US Movement CD posted on eBay for pretty ridiculous prices. Are they actually selling for $200?
I have one of these myself. How much can I expect to fetch for it? If it's really worth that much, I just might put it up for sale.
This depends on which version of the Factory US "Movement" CD you are referring to. There were three variants (could be viewed as four) of the CD album on Factory US/Rough Trade all with the cream/white sleeve...
Original pressing - "FACT. 50" on cover with cover art arranged properly. It reads "FACTUS 50 CD" on spine. The back cover/insert is also somewhat unique from later pressing with a distinct font. "Distributed in the USA by Rough Trade" is printed at bottom of back insert. This version is the rarest and sells for higher. The disc itself is likewise unique from later pressings. I would say $60 to 75 is a decent price. If you hunt the used bins or find an ignorant seller, you can find it cheaper.
Second pressing - This version was corrected with "FACD. 50" on the cover. The second pressing was overall made to look almost identical to the UK version of the CD, but in white. As such, the spine now has "FACD. 50" printed on it. Unfortunately, this pressing was botched and the cover art is a MIRROR IMAGE of the "Movement" artwork. The vertical bars are on the right and the dots are on the left.
Third pressing - This version is the same as #2, except that they fixed the mirroring problem. This is essentially the final fixed version with correct cover art and "FACD. 50" on the cover.
There is a further variant of #3 that has a single sheet front insert for the front cover. The first printings of #3 had a folded insert, with the fold at the bottom. I guess one could view this one as a fourth pressing, or as v3.5!
Versions 2 and 3 typically sell for $30 or less.
In 1992, Qwest/Warner Bros. of course took over rights for this album in the US. The CD was then reprinted with the standard turquoise cover.
