I'd imagine that New Order, doing only very few dates in the United States, would have jumped on the opportunity to reach the widest audience as possible by playing on national television.
If you're gonna be in New York for two days, why not do the Late Show with David Letterman ? That would have made a lot of sense.
Maybe the show was to booked for the time they were to be in New York. I know that Depeche Mode played Letterman and Leno the last 2 tours through ('98 & '01). I don't know how far in advance that these things are planned, but you would think it would be planned.
I'm sure getting on the Jimmy Kimmel show was way easier then getting on Letterman. Would have been great to have seen that!
Well, from what I've seen, they would have done it if they were offered to, they really need as much exposure they can get.
I guess they might have never been offered to visit the show...
The sound mix seemed kinda screwy on the Kimmel peformance, but it was fun to see them on American television regardless.
