YOUR FIRST NEW ORDER GIG?

First gig? The Royal Court, Liverpool 8th February 1986. Benefit gig for the council with The Smiths and The Fall as support.

Set was a tad too short for me despite the battering at the front.

erm...they've been to Texas several times...but I don't know how old you are, so maybe you were too young to see them here in 1993...

but anyways...they came to Austin in 83 and 89...Houston in 89...and Dallas in 89 and 93...

Finsbury Park (2002). I've only seen them twice live, Hyde Park this year was the other.

June 1989, Mountain View, California. My first and only NO show--note to self: keep up on NO tour dates. My best friend and I were 14 and had to beg her older brother to drive us. Thinking of Barney on stage still brings back all the feelings today.

Glasgow Barrowlands on the Get Ready tour..... my first and only New Order gig!

Probably because both The Wake and Gabrielle's Pish were both poor bands. I've seen the Wake enough times to realise that they were shit, as Mike says!

First gig still has to happen for me..and that after being a fan since 1985..seems they are not so into Holland any more after having played here quite a lot in the JD/early NO period..to much temptations up here i think

Your loss really. What's worse than not being able to see a good band? To see a good band and think they're shit.

The Wake were a joke, i had to endure them several times just like that band that was named after their keyboard player, THE STOCKHOLM MONSTERS

I do remember that there was a coach journey from Stevenage to Birmingham, and that Barney spent the latter half of the gig sitting down (presumably pissed/E'd up)?

Happy Mondays were the support - they were supporting 'Bummed' which I'd only just bought a couple of days beforehand - those were the days! :)

He did the same in Montpellier on January 20th, 1989.

That was my first NO concert. The weather was bad. Electricity suddendly went out whilst they were performing True Faith. We had to wait quite a long time for them to reboot "the Other Two's" Emulators II... And they played us True Faith again as an encore.

Must have the bootleg tape somewhere by ma&pa.

Miami Knight Centre December 14 or 15 1986.Yeah I know this gig ain't listed on this site.But I was there and they were the solo act.The unofficial after concert party was at club Fire & Ice Miami.That was the first time I went to F&I kind of a happening place for girlies.The band didn't show up,the crowd was pretty young,I was about 24 and on the older end of the people there.

But Mick, I have seen them both several times, and have yet to see either of them give a convincing performance. You may be obsessed with them, but I have the sense of perspective to be able to give a balanced judgement. I've also played on the same bill as Gabrielle's Wish, and they were somewhat arrogant in the dressing room.

Tim, nobody can be obsessed with the Wake can they, as i said i have several times,and i still have nightmares.

Does anyone remember their lead singers dreadfull rendition of LWTUA with the Factory All Stars ? Give me Paul Young's version anyday.

First JD gig : Russell Club in late 78. (Oct, IIRC) with Cabaret Voltaire. Aged 16!

First NO gig : Retford Porterhouse Jan 81 (flipping cold night, that!!)

Last NO gig : Hyde Park. I still have my Viking Badge.

And...The Wake were OK, first album 'Harmony', is ace, as are some of the singles. But The Stockhom Monsters were absolutely superb on a good night. Too much ale and they could be a shambles, but overall a totally great band - magical records with imaginitive arrangements, great atmosphere and soaring melodies. 'Alma Mater' is the one to get, but the singles comp on LTM is also really good. Alright?

my first new order gig was at the hacienda think it was june or july 1983 . Also does anyone no of any places in manchester where you can buy bootleg copies of gigs i no there use to be the undergrond market and afflecks palace but not any more.

I can point you in the direction of someone who can probably cater for all your bootleg needs, and is based in Greater Manchester. His photo appears on this site every so often.

My first gig was the NEC 1989 - and yes a lovely warm sunny Sunday just before Easter (when you could rely on Spring to be nice season).

The Happy Mondays gave a truly shambolic hypnotizing performance I remember.

As Shug recalls, New Order did indeed give a sterling rendition of 1963 with Barney giving an a capella of the chorus once the music had stopped which made the song even more emotional Factor in Mr. Disco, Vanishing Point, The Perfect Kiss, TBTHOG, and Ceremony and you had one great gig. I used to have a bad quality bootleg - does anyone have this gig as I'd love to hear it once more
