I shall be there. As will our drummer Jon, the recipient of my spare ticket. Karen's stood down so a fan of longer standing can have a chance to take in something special, fair play to her. All we need now is two for Phil and one for Jim, and it will be a full quota of Digital members. We'll be the guys outside handing out flyers for our gig the following night, also in tribute to Peelie.

Well the thread started about the Peel gig, then it suddenly morphed into an advert for the Digital gig the following night. Suffice to say that the roll-call in this thread was about the Peel show - obviously we would be delighted to see as many people as possible at both nights!

So, where's everyone sitting?! I thought this was gonna be like the RFH and the aisles and front would be chocker with bodies, but there's no 'front' at all at the venue (unless they do something drastic with the stage) and you could barely stand two-a-breast in the aisles so no-go there either.

I hope they get to play more than four songs or the tickets would have cost us £15- a song. Almost, but not quite as expensive as our Wertcher experience (I'm not even working out the cost of that nightmare...) We are in row B seats 8,9,10, seeya in the pub beforehand.

Oh yes, I had already buggered up the Hyde Park gig by collapsing before NO came on stage (combination of heat/alcohol and anoyingly low blood pressure), so the pressure was on for Wertcher to make up for it. Little did we know that we would spend 90% of the set waiting in a queue for a nicely woven wrist band!!
All I can say is thank god for Turin.

Was in the venue again last night to see Bret Easton Ellis. Still cannae believe they're playing there. Only one security guard under the age of 50. And male. Took a camera photo of an usher stood by the stage, and the stage didn't reach her knee. Very bizarre location for a New Order gig.
Oh, and don't even think about heading there for a drink before the gig. The queues were phenomenal.
slightly OT but was Bret Eastion Ellis good? I'm off to see him tonight at the RNCM on a whim. To get back to topic, I really hope the people who are sitting on the front row of the rear stalls won't mind when I come use up all their available oxegen.

He was very entertaining. Did about 1.5hrs: Q&A session, 2 readings, questions from the floor. QEH was sold out for him. It defo suits events of this kind, still not convinced about New Order etc playing there!!
Pretty sure they will be raising the stage height for this one up to something more typical - otherwise it will be so weird seeing them playing on something a foot high, they outgrew that sort of thing in the early 80s! It'll be just like that Celebration TV broadcast, almost flat on the studio floor!

I thought that, but am not sure they can. Guess there must be a tech spec on the rfh site somewhere?? The problem is that the stage is so DEEP as well. It's built for a full orchestra so is deeper, more than it is wider, if that makes sense. When I was in there a couple of weeks ago I thought they could change the structure. Not entirely sure now after last night.

There's a whole batch of seats the other side of the stage in the venue floorplan. Quite common with classical venues, they are sometimes used for the choir but can also be used by the public.

Went to see the Fall the other week, the stage they were playing on was about 30 cm high. Was standing so close, i could almost smell MES's bad breath! One guy in the audience just walked up the stage, sat in front of the drumkit whilst his girlfriend took pictures of him with her phone, i kid you not. MES told him to piss off.
A stage should be at least 1.5 meters high dammit

The last time I saw him was the Thursday night at Glastonbury (watching Domino Bones) I had a horrible feeling then that he must be there for World in motion. Please, not this time as well!!!

Will's just sent me this link as well. Seems the choir seats are an ad-hoc extra availability for certain events.
They're not seats available for the paying public, that's just the stage set-up for when they have choirs in, as opposed to orchestras or bands. The venue's like any other. A stage at the end of a long room.

That's what I would have thought as well, but it says on the Theatre Monkey site that

These seats face the rest of the auditorium, behind the orchestra. They are sold only if choir or stage performers do not need the space.
Divided into centre and two side blocks, all seats offer excellent sound and a good view of the conductor, but the backs of the heads of his orchestra.
Sit here for a cheap and good value concert experience.
Legroom is good in all seats, especially row A.

Curfew is strict and is set at 10.45. If it's all dragging a bit (as it inevitably will) then they will cut from the comperes and the little films between each band rather than cutting New Order's set. No entry permitted while the bands are on 'cos it's all being recorded for broadcast tomorrow night.
A 20 min set eh? Just time to do a decent airing of Everything's Gone Green I assume???!

I actually chose not to go, after problems with my car, shite day at work etc, and on learning it was a 20 minute set. I don't think Barney can sing Joy Division songs and do them justice, so I am not too dissapointed I missed it, I have always beenmore of a NEW ORDER Fan.
I would have like to met up with everyone, but as I said I had had a shite day.
But I am PLEASED that ALL the NOOLers had a GREAT TIME.

Moving on from the BSPs, I had another look at "other band's forum's" yesterday and a few people seemed upset.
One Super Furries forum called New Order fans the 'most obnoxious ever' because of the 'Nuuu Orderrr' chants in gaps during the SFA's set (not guilty, I was in the bar!). Mind, the same forum also quoted the SFA's singer asking everyone to (snigger) stand up for their last song. Bless. So it sounds like most people weren't arsed about the SFA's either.
Oh, and on the Fall forum someone made a comment about New Order's 'footballfan fans' (so good they named us twice) being 'confused' by the Joy Division set?! Again, bless. Presumably ATR of 180+ Fall gigs fame should be included amongst this?!
Anyways, I loved Wednesday night to bits so who gives a royal flying one for what t'others have to say!

As for British Sea Power, they're not a bad band at all - very pleasant - must seek out some of their later tracks (from the album 'Open Season'). :)

At least Cath Aubergine sounds rather level-headed. Was sat with Mr Staszko in a bar in Mancland last night and he says I've definitely met her but then you meet so many people through Alex it's hard to keep track. Johnny G claimed I've even met Kevo, though I wasn't convinced but Alex pinpointed a night last year when I met up with Iain and Bunny, JG and Alex, plus others in a bar in Wardour Street, just up from Iain and Bunny's home, though I can't recollect everyone who was there and don't think we spoke. However, knowing who we are, and obviously being on speaking terms with the likes of Alex and Mark and certainly Jeanette and knowing the Dunnocks are our friends too then I've no idea why he felt the need to simply call us all 'cunts'.
