Hi guys,

A brazilian journalist has posted in his weblog 3 dates for New Order to play in Brazil next november, does any of you know something about it?

the dates are:

13 and 14/november - São Paulo

16/november - Rio de Janeiro

this is the url of his blog (text in portuguese): http://lucioribeiro.blig.ig.com.br/

Thanks,

Must be true!

When are these cunts gonna realise that the way you book a band is to contact the management etc, not just put on a website that they are playing and hope it comes true? :evil4:

Good luck, I hope they do play Brazil. Would prefer it next year though as my holiday is fast running out this year!

Well, all the guy said was he got this info "from England" (c'mon, what is that, did he call the Queen?????)

I was joking Igor! There have been so many false alarms with Brazilian dates this year, I don't think anyone will believe they are happening until the band come back on for an encore!

You bet that's the way I feel, specially after the "Porto Alegre" episode.

Man, this really sucks, why is it so hard to have a secure information??????????

The secure information is this:

No Brazil Dates this year.

Don't believe everything Lucio Ribeiro says. He's a nice guy, but I don't think he has any contact with New Order management. I met him in a gig the other day and he knew less than me about this supposed New Order tour.

It's not difficult.

You have to wait for the i's to be dotted and the t's to be crossed.

Still amazes me how many people here fail to understand this.

Let's just say there's a much better chance of them DOING South America, than there isn't, at time of typing.

Fingers crossed.

Ok, but forgive the anxiety, last time they came here I was 8 years old (of course I didn't see them). Picture yourselves in this situation.

ok, fingers crossed and mouth shut, for now on!!!!

I must admit that seeing this on PollStar gives a little more credibility to this.

Usually they are late, but they do have all official dates and never seen fakes.

So I sent a mail, we'll see if it's confirmed or not.

Liam, you do know there are some things on the planet you know NOTHING about, don't you?

Now I know pretty much nothing about these dates, I hope it happens for all these guys in Brazil, but I'm pretty sure your info really isn't "secure". :nono:

There was a rumoured date in Buenos Aires for the 5th of November, and these dates are closed to that, so let's just pray it's true and they come to Brazil and Argentina as well!

I have emailed the management & american booking agent... we'll have the official info sometime I hope.

This would make North American dates more likely. Then again, I've never seen them on foreign soil. If I fly down, would you guys recommend Rio or Sao Paulo?

Is there any interest for these from the Europeans on board?

Obviously, me and JG are nailed on. Natch. But DoN and Barney Army have also shown interest this week too.

Anyone else fancy it?

Even if you do just these three dates it works out nicely for one week away from the office, and then travelling at weekends.

Wouldn't mind going but just ain't got the funds or hoilday remaining at work. And have other plans for November.

But if you do go remember to be careful if you go in 'Help' nightclub in Rio:laugh:

Milky & I might be up for it... We nearly have enough BA miles for a free flight somewhere long distance.

As you told Andy Robinson in Barca that I would be going if they played, it would be rude not to

Seriously though, those dates might make it possible to get off work (which is the only issue really) so I'll be well on for it.

The Argentina date, hanging out there on its own on Nov 5th would be a bit of a no no. Even if they fill in with another date or two between 6th and 12th.

There is a chance, If I can get cheapo flights from work and a domestic exit visa from Mrs Manic.

It does fit in nicely with going to locations beginning with the letter B.

Barca Blackpool Bournemouth Brazil !

I will get working on it.

The Ar-shent-ina date on the 5th is, I believe, bollocks. If they play it, it won't be as early as the 5th.

I've just realised today that I've got a Marbles credit card I've had for two months which I ain't yet christened.

Be downright rude not to use it.

But if they come to South America maybe they do Chile too, and they could do it between the 6th and the 12th. Or maybe they just do the Argentina date closer to the Brazilian ones after all. But if they go to Brazil I think it's almost sure that they will come to Argentina as well.

I had some guy from Chile who emailed me.. obviously some of those guys don't know how to reach the tour director, so it always makes me fear the worst.

I mean, do I look like a booking agent?

Over my dead body.. last show in Montreal was also apparently in 1989 the band told me, although most people thought it was cancelled so it would make it 1988.

I'm due :p

But it will NEVER happen of course, unless the band is interested to participate in something like the Jazz Festival, I know they did it in Montreux, but it's not really Jazz... or if they share the stage with another band like Nickelback did with Bon Jovi last week here.

(Never thought I'd say New Order, Nickelback and Bon Jovi in the same post)

Great news, getting my tickets to-day! Any NOOLers I can help out let me know - my brother runs a travel agency. Don't take too long to make up yer minds, there are only 6,000 tkts a night available, they should vanish like smoke up in the sky (or our heads...). Drop a line at my Hotmail address.

Fly to São Paulo. There you will have two dates and if you want to go to Rio is just 4 hours by bus or 30 minutes by plane.

Look, what are the chances we have great SPECIAL gigs here in Brasil? Enormous, I think. Anyone payed attention to the fact that in november 2006 will complete 25 years (!!!!!!!) that the first NO album, Movement, was released??????????? And will also complete 18 years, since NO played for the first and last time in Brasil. The first show was in Rio, november 25th at Maracanãzinho and I WAS THERE!!!!!! Pitty that the sound was awful not because any technical problem with the band equipment, but because the place does not have any acoustics to hold gigs. So, thanks the venues booked for this tour are very good, mainly, Via Funchal in São Paulo.

More chance of you getting a wank off a girl with a spotty back than any "special" gig. You'll get the same as the rest of the world and be grateful!

BTW guys, with the amount of bands that participated in Community 2 that are from Brazil, you should REALLY consider doing a NOOL Day out there as well...

The line-up would be quite interesting... International, KRONK, Tin God and the others.

Too bad Almanso won't go, but a Buenos Aires NOOL Day would also be good of course.

Yep, unfortunately the only way I will make this is a lottery win. The Spanish trip and October gigs have wiped my funds clear!

If the big man upstairs is listening, I am not greedy, £5million would do nicely, I'd even settle for 5 numbers and the bonus ball :shades:

A girl after my own heart.. I've looked up Rio in my Lonely Planet Central & South America guide & November says 68 to 80 degrees with a bit of rain.. might be a bit humid too.. but hey.. better than the UK in November! Argentina looks much the same.

It'd cost you half of that if you had a students card (which I do, being just a kid meself), trouble is you'd have to come buy it at the ticket booth, though I read somewhere half-price tickets should be available online too. Dunno, better check that one out... Anyway, if they're only sold at the venue, then they should sell out in the next few days, if they haven't yet.

Yeah, SP and Rio are inevitably humid all year round and it should be fairly warm too - actually, hot in Rio, I'd say. But Rio's brilliant anyway, just make sure you stay near the shoreline, which is where most of the hotels are, or in Barra da Tijuca, though Barra's a million miles away from everything, a drag if yer not driving. Leblon, Botafogo, Copacabana and Ipanema are the best places, I suppose, in that order, given the proximity to the venue. Needless to say, if you like beaches, Copacabana and Ipanema speak for themselves. SP's a little duller, being a city and all, but the nightlife's fantastic and fairly cheap given exchange rates (USD 1 = R$ 2.20/ GBP 1 = R$ 4.50). Lodging near the venue in SP is a good idea since the area's pretty decent, full of hotels and bars in the vicinity (no need for driving or taking public transportation, which is not bad, but why bothering?).

You'll get them cheaper if you get them there. Surely the cheapest you get there won't be beaten by any airlines here... :\ohwell:

Ha ha. He's cracking.

5 min search shows all around £550 - £600 return to SP.

Should be able to get an open jaw ticket, into SP and home from BA for not much more. Then it's just a case of a few local flights.

Wow, that's good. My home airport is Atlanta and best I've found so far to SP and back from BA was a about $1000.

Flight from Rio to BA will be around $350. I'll probably just take the bus from SP to Rio since it's not that far... unless someone offers to give me a lift. :) I'll even help pay for gas.

I'm holding off on buying plane tickets for the next couple days or so just in case they announce anymore dates on the continent like Santiago or Caracas.

EDIT: Nevermind it looks like Jarvo just posted the final info.

Been on the phone to Trailfinders this afternoon and they priced everything up at £960.

That includes all internal flights, return to London from Buenos Aires and tax, of course!.

Be keen to learn if anyone can get the whole thing done cheaper, without having to comprimise significantly by taking flights at ungodly hours.

E.g. Air France: depart Heathrow at 6.40am, change at Paris and Sao Paolo, hang around at both airports for a while, before arriving at Belo Horixonte at 23.40. So including check-in time etc, that's almost 24 hours door-to-door

Fcuk that.

Last year I flew to Hong Kong with a layover in Seoul. From home to hotel was about 24 hours... with a 12 hour time difference.

It's crazy what jet lag will do to you. By the time I got there I'd lost all perception of what time or day it was. Thankfully I had a couple of days to recover.

Yes please, can you tell us the best area to stay & any info about the fetival

Well, all the festival info will be released this wednesday and I can post here. All I know is that another international act (from a brazilian point of view) will be announced, but not to expect one so good as NO. The festival is two days long and usually has around 6 or 7 acts each night. Gates open around 2PM and first show begins at 4 PM and last finishes around 1 AM, at the most. NO will play first night. The stadium is in the north part of the city and no hotels around. NO should be in a hotel called Ouro Minas Palace Hotel. Here is a link for the site in english http://www.ourominas.com.br/ingles/index2.php The airport is around 60 Km away from downtown. There is a bus service that serves from airport to downtown for US$ 6 and there is a stop in from the hotel I mentioned (ask the driver to stop at Ouro Minas). A taxi from this hotel to the stadium will cost around US$ 10. If you want a cheap option here it is: http://www.accorhotels.com.br/guiahoteis/ibis/hotel\_main.asp?cd\_hotel=124 their phone number is +55 31 3224-9494. They dont have english site, but you can try at international site for Accorhotels For the ones planning to attend other NO gigs in Brazil, here it is some option for local airlines in order to travel from Belo Horizonte (Confins*) to São Paulo (Congonhas*) and then to Rio de Janeiro (Santos Dumont*). Marked with an asterisk are the airports you should choose to embark and/or desembark during local flights. So, here are the sites: www.voegol.com.br and www.tam.com.br Note that november 15th is a national holiday. If you have anymore questions, just ask me. On Wednesday, as soon as I have, I ll post here all the update info I have about the festival. Cheers, Marco

Similar quote from Londinium with Air France was just a tenner more, 576 notes.

That was leaving a day earlier though (the Thursday) as I've got to take two weeks off work anyways so no need to rush there for me!

At the moment we're just at the 'pressgang' stage.

Where JG and I attempt to coerce as many people as possible into considering this.

Although, in truth, I'll probably book flights (at least) within the next 48hrs.

Be rude not to.

Going as late as possible on Friday 10th Nov.

I might not be able to get on here or my e-mail for another 24 hours so if anyone is booking something can they ring me or text me the details.

Well, if I could get the time off, then I'd be there like a shot...

Unfortunately, with just over a week off at the beginning of the year, a week off in April, Athens, Spain, the Big Chill this weekend, and the New Order dates in October, I'll have about 5 days holiday left for the whole year... :\ohwell:

Have a good one to all that go - I'm very envious! :smoking: :thumb:

I wish I could resign my job. I'd be gone for more than a week, that's for sure!

My 3 major flights are booked.

ATL->GIG 11/10-11 Delta GIG->EZE 11/17 Aerolineas Argentinas EZE->ATL 11/20-21 Delta

$1295 to Delta and $361 to AA. I might have saved some money going with TAM or GOL on leg two, but I believe not having to change planes is worth the extra price.

The AA lady I talked to on the phone had the most adorable accent. I just know it's going to drive me crazy when I'm there.

I might take buses instead of planes between RJ and SP... haven't decided yet.

It takes 5 hours from Rio to Sao Paulo and it costs about R$ 70,00 (less than 35,00 USD) to take a nice bus (includes pillows, blankets, coffee, snacks, video...)

Dear someone,

There is an audience for New Order in Costa Rica (I know people from all over Central America would fly to CR just to see them). Since they will be in Argentina in November, couldn't they just fly north to CR for a one-off, once in a lifetime gig? I have no idea if someone from NO or their entourage reads this, but if there is someone there, please drop me a line at beatmaster23 AT gmail.com (replace at with @, for obvious reasons).

Hopeful and optimistic,

There is a talk at Republica Digital Forum that the tickets for Sao Paulo gigs are almost at the end. The information comes from the venue, according to the post. http://www.neworderonline.com/Forums/MessageList.aspx?ThreadID=32604 So, if you coming from abroad need tickets (maybe you're at guess lists) better move quickly.

There's a rumour being spread about another New Order date in Brasil. It would be in Brasilia, capital of Brasil. But the date seems a little bit strange - november 4th. Anyone can confirm this?

There is no Brasilia gig.

A promoter offered Brasilia, a few months ago, as part of a tour that included the Port Alegre show. But, as we know, this didn't happen.

The tour in November is the 5 dates already announced. No more. No less.

In Sao Paulo both gigs went on sale at the end of july. You can purchase on line at www.viafunchal.com.br The other two dates are not on sale yet. For Rio this venue generally goes on sale on live via www.ingressorapido.com.br

Are there any tips for good hotels near the venues in Sao Paulo and Rio?

[gold]confusion[/gold] wrote: Are there any tips for good hotels near the venues in Sao Paulo and Rio?

I plan to stay at the Guanabara Palace in Rio. In central Rio near the venue (walking distance or one stop on the metro) and with easy access to public transit... nice rooms, broadband internet... and well known enough that any taxi driver should be able to take me back there without having to give an address or directions.

Guanabara Palace Hotel

Not sure about Sao Paulo yet as the layout of the city is harder to get familiar with and it's so big and spread out. Also the venue is nowhere near the metro.

This place looks like it's right around the corner, though. I may end up there, even though they don't advertize having broadband internet...

Estanplaza Faria Lima Funchal

Haven't reserved anything yet since I've only just been browsing trying to get a feel for what's available.

About the Guanabara Hotel, it's really near the venue (some people may disagree about the "walking distance", but it's close). I don't know the Hotel very well but I pass in front of it every day when coming home from work and it seems very good.

It should be max. 2 kms from the Guanabara Hotel to the venue. And the same distance is to the city airport.

That's correct. I just remembered my heavy-drinking nights around Lapa when 2km was way too far for walking.

By the way, the city airport near the hotel is a small one, it's only for domestic flights. International flights are on the "Galeao" (or "Tom Jobim") Airport.

Exactly. "Santos Dumont Airport" is the one close to the Guanabara Hotel. If you come from the Sao Paulo gig you will probably land there (not always, some flights arrive at Tom Jobim also) . If you are heading to Argentina (or back home) the airport to go is Tom Jobim.

I've tried purchasing those tickets online. It looks like there a few good seats still available. However after selecting the tickets its impossible to enter my information because if you select a country other than Brazil (Canada in my case) you must also enter the state/province. The problem is that it doesn't list a state/province for countries other than Brazil and therefore you cannot complete the checkout process. Has anyone outside Brazil been able to purchase these tickets?

I have.

I just selected Brazil SP and put "Columbus, GA USA" in the city name. They should be able to figure that out. They don't really need the address anyway. We'll just have to get our tickets at will call.

You should get an email shortly after with your confirmation. Print that out and bring it and your credit card with you.

Here is everything you need to know about buying tickets for all the south american dates. All the tickets are now on sale except for RIO. I looked again this morning but still not on sale! The gig in Belo Horizonte is on sale, no internet sale, tickets that are valid for the two days festival (New Order play on the first day only, on november 11th). The festival site is www.poprockbrasil.com.br, only portuguese, but you may click in "vendas" and see the prices in local currency (the exchange rates are: US$ 1 = R$ 2,20 and £ 1 = R$ 4). You dont have to worry about tickets for this festival because is very unlikely it will sold out. Well, regarding Rio De Janeiro's gig this will happen at Fundição Progresso (www.fundicaoprogresso.com.br) you can take a look there, but there's no additional information on New Order's gig yet. They always use the site www.ingressorapido.com.br to sell the tickets. Franz Ferdinand played there last week and the tickest went on sale through this site on month and a half before the gig, so New Order's ticket must be on the way. In Buenos Aires the site for the festival (Personal Fest) is http://www.personalfest.com.ar/

It will be very exciting for me to get out a full plane with around 400 people through the passport control to go to the check-in in time.
