Is anyone up for a pre-gig meet up (or p*** up) before the Wembley Arena gig? If so are there any good pubs in the area as the area near the arena is like a deserted wasteland abd IMO quality boozers seem a little thin on the ground in the Wembley area. Cheers!:thumb:

Baker Street is the sensible option.

Sounds perfect... Unless anyone fancies going in the other direction and meeting in Watford... Er, no, thought not...

I wasn't sure how best to convey a great big sax solo through the medium of a message board, so I left it.

Without realising, Myself and Jarvo have both, independently, carried out years of extensive research into the best boozer within sniffing distance of Baker St tube.

But we still don't know where the fuck we're going

When ever I have been to Wembley I have gone to the Green Man. Quite close to the venue. When we last went it was a tenner to leave your car there for the day (and it is there when you come back!!!). Not sure if they still do that though.

Now, if only I could actually remember which pub I frequented when I used to work at Baker Street (not that we were actually allowed to even visit a pub at the place where I worked, let alone have a pint - same company as Dave)!

The big pub directly over the road from the tube station at Baker Street is The Globe. The Green Man is not a bad call and has been a regualr haunt every time Stoke City play at Wembley!

Baker St or Green man?

Baker St is probably the easiest for most people. Easy from anywhere in London, easy from Heathrow Express at Paddington, easy from Euston, Kings X, Charing X, Waterloo, London Bridge, Marylebone, Liverpool St. No excuses!

Best place to stay is.................?

Isn´t that easy to meet someplace in Wembley so we can be close to the gig area(even walk to get there?) by the way I booked a hotel in Wembley ´cause I thought you guys were going to meet close to Wembley Arena

and to think i know wembley off by hard, there i was just about to make a similar thread, s*** i dont know of any good pubs near wembley arena, i know of a pub near wembley arena, when you walk out of the station (wembley park that is) you turn left and walk about 200 yards or more will know of the pubs name soon, since now you pickled my interest

Hi everyone,

What time do you think the band will be on - 9pm? going to be a bit tight on time to get there due to other committments, but trying to get away from work as early as poss!

Thanks, Ant

Yes, the band will be on about 9-9.10, and will be on for about 80/90 minutes.

Although it'd mean a longer journey as I'm coming from beautiful Watford and I'd have to go right past Wembley on the Met line, I'd prefer Baker Street... Be nice to travel en masse to the venue as well... :thumb:

Due to work commitments, the general expense of getting to/from and staying in London town and the £60 fucking speeding fine I got driving to the Bournemouth gig I'm having to knock Wembley on the head. If anyone fancies a cut-price standing ticket please drop me an email ASAP.

Will still see folk at Wolves where I hope the pop group can pull their fingers out and attempt to rekindle the magic.

Poor Martin. Gabs Wish in manchester that night if you fancy it. Will be much better anyway!

Saying that, Wembley Arena would be good just to see how many people arent there!

No doubt the gig will be fun, Liam, but amongst other things I have an impending deadline for an article going in a book. It's about J-Lo and RomComs. And how many people here could say that they had to miss a New Order gig because Jennifer Lopez's romantic desires got in the way, huh?

To be honest with you....... most people couldn't give a flying fuck about her, so you would be better off going to the gig!

just don't anybody invite that Rocket Mick character, he's fcuking NUTS!!!

Where are we going to meet then?

If it's Wembley then The Green Man is easy to find.

http://www.thegreenmanhotelatwembley.co.uk/

Only five minutes walk from the stations. Close to the venue.

If I were 100% sure of my chances, I'd say come over I'll give you mine and use the guest list opportunity.

But seeing the last 2 times I got photo passes for people they didn't get it (Hibster in Spain and Gary at Bournemouth)... I'm not sure I'd take that risk and I'm happy I bought a ticket.. :(

Needless to say, find a place where a canadian tourist won't get lost on its way there

Gee, hopefully 3 days will help me to find my way in London

So c'mon then... Someone make a decision..

for me, the best option would be a wembley meet-up. even though it's not the quality area to which we're used (as if that's going to matter!) - I've taken the day off work and I'll be coming from the other end of the met or silverlink line (and I don't fancy making the journey to the venue, invariably at the last minute and with a full bladder from london).

yes, the word lightweight doesn't even begin to describe my constitution....

Why don't we all drink with our mates?!

Novelty idea, but it could work! :eek3:

I thought the question of where our mates are going to be drinking hadn't been resolved yet. Am I missing something? Is the london order settled on a more central venue?

A few, and I probably WILL be where they are.

As long as people understand I'm terrible with name and faces (especially when I'll meet so many people at the same time), I'm fine.

Of course, no problem with Al and Johnny Giles, saw them enough ;)

lets go for the green man...more drinking time available as short stumble to the arena,,,no pissing around with the tubes......

always been a bit nervous about the meet ups as a lot of friends on the board seem to know each other really well

I missed the meet up at TGI's in new york as with friends( i had a bloc party t shirt on and was at the aftershow at Hiro so probably saw some of you!!!) and got to hyde park too late.

went to the apollo with a mate and bournemouth but again not in time for meet up.

will be getting to wembley and wolves early so hope to meet up with some of you craaaazzzyyy people.

Green Man from 5pm then?

Would be great to see Mick again... I'll be wherever people are meeting.

(quoted from Chris Nash's post earlier).

Hello mate! I tried texting you the other day. Where and when do you want to meet for Wem-ber-ley? Give me a shout when you can and we'll sort it. The Green Man looks ok. Weird seeing a country-looking pub in a dull northwest London surburban setting!

Cheers and to everyone that's going on Friday: having some!

Al

Ps Live request? Mmmm Sooner Than You Think or Face Up would be cool.

Only two options near Wembley Arena...

The Torch or The Green Man.

The Torch is near a Metropolitan Line station... i.e. Wembley Park so easier if you're coming from Baker Street. Not a bad pre-gig pub, big enough and only a few mins walk to the Arena.

Cheers Mike

Well, at least it was topical in London at the moment... :bag:

Did you write that in a Chumley-Warner-Pathe-News accent? Cos I sure as hell read it in one.

I was looking at it in a mass entertainment Mancunian beat combo sort-of way! One would hope they will be raising a hullabaloo for the young folk come Friday evening.

Arriving in the smoke at about 3-ish so up for a snifter there first.

Will try the Globe at Baker Street first - hope some of you will be there.

Otherwise concensus seems to be Green Man at Wembo.

Anyone got a map for Station-pub-gig thing.

Don't know why Green Man's been suggested. Think Mike's already said you have to walk PAST the venue from the tube to get to it. Torch (or whatever it's called) is on the way, no?

Well I don't know do I.

Is it gonna be like the blind leading the blind, or in this case the pissed leading the pissed-er.

Wherever it is I'll be there. I've missed out on too many of the recent events to pass this one up

Sure someone will make a decision soon! Got the afternoon off, so would like to start early if poss.

Don't know Wembley at all, can't start off in town first because we need to park the car somewhere.

There's a link to a map to The Green Man on page 2 of this thread, it's a bit of a giveaway because there's a forkin' great picture of a pub below the link :\ohwell: It is close to the venue and only five mins from the stations. It is indeed past the Arena if you're on the Jubilee line into Wembley Park. However, if you travel out of Marylebone on the overland then Wembley Stadium is first stop and obviously the closest station to the venue. The Green Man is between Wembley Stadium Station and Wembley Arena.

Map here includes all wembley venues, The Green Man and wembley Stadium Station. Wembley Park Underground is off the top of the map up Olympic Way.

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=519000&Y=186000&width=700&height=400&gride=518860&gridn=185268&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=pc&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=0&scale=10000&down.x=356&down.y=426

I don't care where we go, just make a decision please somebody!:banghead:

And just for some clarity: The Torch is indeed near Wembley Park Underground.........but in the opposite direction to Wembley Arena. See map: (Wembley Arena etc is off the bottom of the map) http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?pc=HA99AB

We may need a longboat for either the way it's going!

hopefully we can decide on somewhere soon. bringing my mate along for his 1st meet up, i can't dissapoint him now can i ?:nono:

Ta for the map.

Probably even I can end up within carrying range of the Arena now.

Probably up for some in town first though.
