A brief summary of a belting night......
Had a quick pint in The Globe at Baker St before heading for The Green Man, the giant mixed grill some Tetley's Cask and fine conversation with Digi Mike, Fats, Ren et al.
Anyhow, I had taken my daughter Victoria with me, just fourteen and seeing the boys for just the second time (previously Brixton last year) and as N.O hurtled into Hey Joe Victoria started moaning and groaning about having to stand up, not being able to see etc. So I asked a steward if we could move upstairs and make use of a couple of empty seats. We were promptly taken right down the side of the arena and move into a block of seats right next to the stage (left handside as you look at the stage). We were only 30 feet from Phil and had a fantastic view of the remaining proceedings albeit side on. Where we were sat was pretty deserted and we soon realised we were in the VIP / Guest List area as every man and his dog was sporting an Access All Areas badge. Victoria did point out than in thirty odd visits to see New Order I'd never got past the 'mosh pit' wheras she had us in VIP in just two visits! We soon got talking to Kirsty, the lady behind us and towards the end somebody else told us that Kirsty was actually Phil's girlfriend. Well she was obviously enjoying herself as much as the rest of us and having a fantastic night. At the end of the gig Victoria enquired whether there may be a spare AAA badge available as a souvenier and Kirsty was fantastic in saying she would do better than that and raced off immediately on our behalf determined to bring back 'something special' from the dressing room. She told us to hang on for a few minutes and that she'd soon be back. Anyhow things then went a little pear shaped as we became the victims of some overzealous stewarding and were pretty much forced out within a few minutes and unfortunately before Kirsty could return and much to Victoria's displeasure.
So if Kirsty reads the forum or anybody who does and knows here please offer our thanks for trying to make the night extra special for a young girl and accept our apologies for not being there whenever she returned.
Of course if she still has that extra special souvenier for Victoria, well then I'm sure she won't say no! ![]()
