Here's the other pictures I promised you, which I recently had put on disc. For those of you unaware of this gig, this was a TWO day gig held at Heaton Park,Manchester. Was organised as a memorial concert for Martin Hannett. I didn't go to the Saturday gig which was a shame because I missed OMD and The Buzzcocks. But the Sunday line-up was excellent. ELECTRONIC (featuring Pet Shop Boys who turned up to perform GETTING AWAY WITH IT),REVENGE,808 STATE,DURUTTI COLUMN,CATH CARROLL,and HAPPY MONDAYS. ENJOY!!

Why are there New Order photos/Hooky and Barney on stage when only Electronic played? I am confused, is there more information about this gig? I did try the gig finder on the site.

Hooky there as Revenge.

Barney and PSB there as Electronic.

at one stage in the NOOL day planning there was to be a video screen projecting to the back of stage, showing various film clips. this was to be one of them, just as well we couldn't make it work eh Jack? :thumb:

I was there both days, highlights were ACR,CABS,Revenge,Electronic,Mondays,Buzzcocks,....actually all of it was a fookin' highlight, something to look back on with fondness.Pics bring it all back, can't believe how young Barney & Hooky look, younger than I am now! Remembered most for burning my scalp 'cos it so hot, looked like I had a severe case of dandruff for a week!:D  :thumb:

I remember the electrics going at one stage - I think when the Ruthless Rap Assassins were on stage - but not much else. Heady days, few memories.

Quality pics.

Was there not ment to be a CITP 2 video for release with other footage on it, in the early 90s? :thumb:

Cool photos, thanks. :thumb:

Notice how someone shouts "BORING!" at the beginning of Feel Every Beat on the video? :nono:

Could never understand why they included about 4 Happy Monday songs on the video, but only 1 Electronic song, and it didn't even include PSB! (but at least they got me on the vid!!!). Johnny Marr looked cool in his Italian gangsta look.

THe Rap Assasins played on the Saturday I think, and the electrics blew half way through the set

No one got any pics of the running battles which took place all day between security and liggers trying to get in over/under the fence then?!

Literally 100's were involved. They had a police 'copter out at one point hovering over them all!

Well we came back after 1st days proceedings to find some gypsy thieving Manc' bastards had stolen 'the tent' Oh Yes over on the hill. Apart from that slight issue not a bad weekender.

Great couple of days in North Manchester. We stayed in the nearby Nurses Home (my mates girlfriend was a nurse at the time). There were rumours that NO would do a set but alas this never happened. The Mondays were really good though.

Great day out. Bloody hot too! Durutti,ACR,808,Revenge and Electronic.

Right down the front for 808 and Electronic. Three of my mates fainted during the 808 set and had to be lifted out so was left on me tod for Electronic. Went looking for them during the Mondays set and ended up falling asleep on someone's car bonnet.

Cubik, Reality, DNE & Free Will. Brilliant.

Al,

I got caught up in this mini-riot (actually, it was bordering on being a real riot at one stage...) whilst walking past one of the gates. Nothing sobers you up more when you are off your tits than the bloke 5 yards to your left taking a brick full on in the mush.

I remember the helicopter at one point was hovering about 50 yards above the crowd outside the gate in an attempt to disperse them. Good old fashioned mancunian policing!

My mate spent most of the afternoon at St.Johns ambulance puking up what looked like mushed up bananas after buying some "speed" off a Cheetam Hill youth. Happy days.

great 2nd day- electronic were brilliant, although Mondays were poor and nobody has mentioned the shambles that was de la soul!!!

looked a like great day in after Madchester' period...

But why are there so many bouncers/security in front the stage? there's more blue to be seen than there's something to be seen of Barney..

I went to this.

Nice and Sunny, not too crowded. I believe Alan Wise promoted it and lost a load of cash. A year so later I was in Woolworths in Birkenhead and saw the video for £2 so naturally I snapped it up.

The video is ace, everyone is on it, Revenge, ACR, Mondays, Electronic and a host of lesser factory acts - Adventure Babies . Backstage vox pops too with Wilson, Ruthless Rap Assasins who did suffer an electrical fault.

808 State were fantastic. Worst act by far De La Soul - shoulda been great but were rubbish.

There's the 2 LA '90 gigs (off which there are bootlegs of DM footage, at least?) and Wembley '91... or are you saying those were mimed?

Excellent! Are they available to watch/buy? Just think it was a wasted opportunity not having them on the video, when everyone got one song each included, but the Mondays got about 5!
