Rumours on various festival sites reckon Summercase maybe cancelled this year due to Movistar (their main sponsor) pulling out. So, the question is, where are we going instead guys...???

Thought you and Terry Christian were doing San Francisco in the Spring?

Which is, like, well gay.

Sonar Festival is in June in Barcelona

But Vinny, why are you going to go if all you are going to do is bitch about the lineup?

I know where I'm going anyway. Probably.

Hold yer horses you lot.. it's January, and -3 outside.

Capitalism might have collapsed by the Summer.

Sonar :) I was thinking about doing it as well anyway

While I admire your enthusiasm, I don't think I can afford California!

If I was going that far I'd go to Burning Man in Nevada.

I wouldn't do that again. Too facking hot (40+), middle of the desert, and you can only drink in cordoned off areas.

Having said that, Molly did it last year (for Kraftwerk) and also did Las Vegas whilst he was over ... now that's a trip!

That trip does sound fantastic, maybe one for 2010 Jem. I have always wanted to go to Vegas.

But Coachella did have fire engines turn up to spray every one down while waiting to get in. So considerate.

Is that the bar, which having ID'd us on the way in, then asked us to point out who the drinks were for whenever a round of like more than 2 drinks were ordered? :nonono:

Someone (not me) needs to provide a list of festivals in southern europe for everyone to consider. Sonar and Primavera sound good....what about that one nr Valencia?.

I will be here in March and here in June. I shit you not.

Benicassim near Valencia would be good but I reckon all the apartments nearby will have been snapped up already and I don't fancy camping, nope. Kings of Leon, Paul Weller and Franz Ferdinand confirmed for there already.

Benicassim is full of Scally Scum who want a fesitval and a package holiday rolled into one. Its an English festival that just happens to take place in Spain. Unless Arcade Fire or lcd play, I wont be going.

Its getting that way. Benicassim is over 70% British though, i'd be surprised if Summercase is half that.

Hola

NO SUMMERCASE this yr.!!!!!

just checked the La Vanguardia website (catalunya daily newspaper) Sinnamon the organizers of Summercase and other festivals have confirmed that there will be NO FESTIVAL this year due to the financial crisis in Spain. They hope to resurrect nxt yr however.:nonono: :dead: Sod all from SINNAMON on their website though

I thought this might happen so I've been looking at some alternatives for June, July and August...

Sonar, Barcelona (18-20 June) Hurricane, Germany (19-21 June) Roskilde, Denmark (2-5 July) Garden, Croatia (3-12 July) Exit, Serbia (9-12 July) Benicassim, Valencia (16-19 July) Sziget, Budapest (12-17 August)

Exit in Serbia looks alright and cheap if you can get there easily. Isn't this supposed to be the biggest festival in Europe??

Yup, here's the official blurb from their Myspace site:

"The next edition of Summercase has been postponed until 2010....

.. ..

Due to the current global financial crisis of 2009, SINNAMON have decided to postpone Summercase until 2010. The main motive is no one other that we find ourselves in an economical context which does not guarantee the quality of our events, and therefore, their taking place.....

.. ..

Finally, we want to affirm that the delay in communicating this information has been due to our efforts in exhausting all our options in making this years festival possible. In this difficult 2009 we will continue to work as hard as ever on all our forthcoming projects. Projects which we dedicate to the public who have always believed in us, like we have been doing for more than a decade.....

.. ..

Thanks to everyone,....

SINNAMON...."

I can't make Sonar, as I'll be on holiday then (same time as the recently announced Pet Shop Boys gigs)...

The only one overseas fest I'm tempted by so far is Primavera in Barcelona on the last weekend in May. Runs from Thursday May 28th to Saturday May 30th.

Primavera 2009 Line-up

Eclectic roster including.....ACR, My Bloody Valentine, Vaselines, Spiritualized, Aphex Twin, Art Brut, Jarvis Cocker, Sonic Youth, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart (one for Hibster and G-Man), Neil Young, Throwing Muses and Yo La Tengo.

St Etienne, Simian Mobile Disco and Squarepusher now added to this line up. Er, and Bloc Party.

So am now confirmed for this. Will book flights over the next few days.Just need to decide whether to go via Lyon on the Wednesday night for more ACR.

Anyone else fancy a bit of Barca?

Is this a final line up?.. Cos i need a couple more acts to be really keen. It needs some oomph, although SMD will do a blinder.
