Bob from Salford City radio said he'd either broadcast the gig or at least one or two of the gig next Tuesday!

SALFORD CITY RADIO interview went well! It's being broadcast on 94.4 FM or you can listen to it on live streaming on t'internet. Or you can here it when I put SOUNDCLOUD link on.

2 things developed from that.......

We're playing the first SALFORD FESTIVAL in Buile Hill Park in Summer (headline act they're hoping to put on....erm...no..no cat out of bag.I'll look a dick if they say no)

  1. I've got myself a slot on Salford City Radio! THE MONTY SHOW!

By God we were tight tonight...never sounded so good.Erm..because neither Pearl Divers or Bobbie Peru actually got to play!!!

A farce from start to finish.I can understand now why most music venues have strict codes on when a band should turn up to load-in,soundcheck within certain times, play on stage at given time...or you don't play.

We were first band to arrive, strictly speaking Bobbie Peru would have been first to soundcheck, then us,then LOVELUST,who would then stay on and play their 30 min set. They soundchecked for what seemed like an hour and a half, testing microphones which didn't even get used. And they turned up off their tits. The fact that Bert out of Bobbie Peru had to go up to them and say "Come on lads, are you gonna start or what?"

They did what seemed like an eternity on stage, worse of it,they used (shock horror) a smoke machine. After the gig,Manager must have had a go at them, one, about the use of smoke machine.I understand that his motives for what he did next, were based on these knobheads threatening the manager and bar staff upstairs. Only what the manager chose to say, within earshot of everyone who showed up and paid their fiver, was that "Due to poor sales over the bar,we're pulling the rest of the gig" Monumental fuck-up. I shouted over to him, well you're not going to make any money at the bar if you pull the gig at fucking 10pm. He tried to explain to me later, that it was down to LOVELUST that the gig was pulled. I said fair enough, but you should have strict guidelines well before you let them on stage. And they shouldn't have been let on,unless they kept to the times.End of day though, they were saying we couldn't take them off stage "because all the plugs are on stage" Bollocks the person in full control is the guy behind the fucking PA. There's nothing looks more shit than a band that's playing away to themselves with no sound.. And they also shot themselves in the foot because 3 of SALFORD CITY RADIO were there too.Not a good advert, because word will get around.

So there you have it.Was really looking forward to playing DRY BAR for a bit of Factory Fokelore, but I vote no confidence in DRY 201 and LOVELUST (possibly the worst support band ever)

Roll on DIDSBURY. Not only is it a proper FALL love-in, our Mike plus Martin Bramah,Steve and Paul Hanley of FACTORY STAR,but we're playing a 50 minute set!

Heard about this through somebody elses facebook this morning. Bad news Monty, somebody should have kicked their arses.

Good luck on Saturday x

im sorry but it was the managers fault that the gig was pulled. the soundguy was awful, didnt have a clue what he was doing,he was using di boxes that diddnt even work, and since when has dry ice not been allowed at a gig? he wasnt making any money, then blamed us, thats why we werent happy, because no refunds were given, other bands didnt get to play, and we were used as scapegoat. bobbie peru had no problem with us,weve spoke since and both agreed that drybar has turned into an awful venue, so whyblame us? we were guilty of one thing and that was playing too long,no need to pull the gig. no one threatend members of staff, we had a problem with the manager who is a stuck up,arrogant, lying peice of shit.avoid dry bar.

Cracking gig on Saturday! A proper FALL Love-in,what with our Mike, plus Mr Bramah and the Hanley Bros from FACTORY STAR. We got to play 50 minute set, which I've just heard playback, well pleased with it.

Just read our review on ManchesterMusic.co.uk under GIGS and RISE OF THE FALLEN...apparently I've got the voice of BRYAN FERRY.I'm very flattered...but I didn't sing at all on Saturday!!

Oh and Mr VINI REILLY was at the bar with POPPY,wanted to go and say hello, coudn't see him before our set started,so I shouted out over the mic," A big shout out to VINI REILLY,good luck with THE LOWRY gig tomorrow night mate". Apparently I scared him off.

I was hoping when me and Alex saw DURUTTI last night at Lowry, that he might shout over "Monty, good luck at your Stalybridge gig, you'll need it" But alas,it was not to be....

Sorry to hear about what happened at Dry, that sounds well bad, don't feel so bad I couldnt make it down there now

first of all i would like to say that as a neutral person in the audience i think monty is talking out of his arse and is just bitter because he didnt get to play his set.

  1. there was a reason as to why lovelust sound checked for a frustratingly long time..this was mainly down to the massive incapabilities of the sound guy. lovelust even had to stop half way through their first song because the bloody keyboards hadnt been turned back up..a simple error.

2)lovelust did not turn up 'off their tits' at all, each and every one of them were sober and looking forward to playing a good set and not having a monumental cock up of a sound check which normally never takes anywhere near the amount of time that it did.

3)the only reason 1 or 2 members of lovelust were hurling abuse and threats at the manager was due to their sheer disbelief - lovelust have used a smoke and strobe machine in several different venues in manchester, birmingham, stoke on trent, london etc and these have never been a problem...however it is fair enough to say that by the end of the set there was probably too much smoke in the room...but the thing to remember is that most of it had cleared after about 15 minutes at the end of the set..time enough before the next band were due on...

i thought that the manager was the most stubborn and unbelievable person i had ever seen - surely there wouldnt have been a problem with letting the smoke clear for 15mins and then the next band go on - he surely saw lovelust testing the smoke machine in sound check so why didnt he say to them then that he didnt want it bein used?..he also said they came here solely to take the piss, which is complete rubbish because they take wot they do seriously and have had good reviews from other gigs and from people like cath aubergine.

finally i would like to say that lovelust probably are 'the worst support band ever' (unless they are supporting a band with a similar sound/genre) because the atmosphere they create is usually memorable and a real statement, so to have them on first just does not work because they like to give the audience an epic finale and an experience..

Are you the real Rick Stein? What an honour for the board!

The manager WAS a cunt! I deduced this when the girl behind the bar let us in through the back door at Spear Street, and he come out and bollocked her. If I've got it wrong about the band threatening the bar staff then I can only apologise. This is what we were told. Maanager should have had ground rules at the beginning about smoke machines, and yes it had cleared by the time we got on stage. But I can't see BOBBIE PERU playing a truncated set, which is what we both would have played within DRY's curfew. I've since heard that the lad on the sound desk has been sacked, but it's not up to him. Yeah I was pissed off about not playing, when you've spent ages waiting around, invited friends along. And one of the DI boxes was faulty, but the sound guy replaced it.We soundchecked 2 songs with no problem,so that's what wound me up on the night.

Top night at NIGHT & DAY tonight for two reasons,my good lady wife was able to see me for the first time, and the second we got to play our new tune I LOVE THE MUSIC (Black Rose),and I kid you not, there were people dancing!!

Here's a link to one of our earlier gigs at BLUE CAT in Heaton Moor,Stockport. In fact we're playing there on our next gig on Saturday March 20th. Click on GIG STREAM,and it's a funny gig, especially when Tony's keyboard develops a life of its own.It actually played when we unplugged it.I was going to call in some religious help.Altogether now "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS THEE.."
