Birmingham Ballroom is the old Hummingbird/ Carling Academy? Good stuff. On a Sunday night, not a bad night. Venue is just 5 minutes walk from New Street station if it is the old Hummingbird ( saw Kraftwerk there in 91)

Chuffed i didn't shell out for the Troxy gig now

Yep been to a fair few gigs there as well as the Kraftwerk 91 one. Doves in 2002 and 2009 amongst others.

But yeah, cracking venue. More than a couple of bars if i recall, including one or two upstairs where there's the balcony:)

pre-sale links?

Promised the (new-ish) wife that if they ever re-formed (looked unlikely) and toured (even un-liklier) that I would take her.......

Have to say I never thought I would see them in Brum again...

Sat at a desk in an office in Manchester, overlooking Urbis and quite fed up.

Just check NOOL to see what's what (which usually means 'What's Hooky said this time?' or creased Troxy CD cases.)

Sees the 'No VIP packages' thread on Digital Republic...

Two fisted air punch and a Cheshire Cat grin.

See you at the Apollo.

I'll be interested to see how well tickets sell for the Brixton gig after they struggled to shift apparently for the 2005 gig there.

I haven't seen any prices yet.

Presumably cheaper this time?

Think it'll be Glasgow so no work the next day, but I'll be miffed if they add a Friday Apollo date.

Same price for Glasgow & Manchester. Happy Mondays tour tickets are £38.50, apart from Manchester where they are £48.50. Think il give the Mondays a miss. :\ohwell:

I'll be miffed if they add a Saturday night in Birmingham after i 've bought a Sunday ticket. But i'm sure that won't happen as they'll prob add a Friday night in Manchester and they'll want a night off after 2 nights in a row there. And because i don't think they'd particularly like to spend more than one night in Birmingham:evil4:

Huge thumbs down on the ticket prices, but I'm gonna make sure I get to the Manchester show.

Looking at their Aussie tour schedule, they don't seem to give a shit about nights off and travelling and stuff now.

4 nights in Manc, followed by 4 nights in Brum then?

And a matinee gig on Monday afternoon for the under-12's.

Well after what Jake atkinson said t'other week about gossip im still hoping they add sheffield, Wolves n N'castle to the list (i.e. the missing days). Rather than double dates in same gaff. Like Johnny Boy says...wtf would you wonna stay in Brum for 2 nights for.

Then again they're last tour at Brixton in 2005 was massively undersold. Badly promoted. I had spare ticket I couldn't even give away.

You can both go fuck yourselves. There's well over a million unemployed in this arsecunt of a country, including me. £40 is a small fortune.

Fuck off.

To even consider that New Order are a "top act" these days is ludicrous. Like it or not, its a nostalgia act. The last album is seven years old, and even so, no one goes to hear the likes of HNWYD or even Turn, people go to hear True Faith, Blue Monday, LWTUA etc etc.

£38.50 strikes me about right for a nostalgia act, but a top act? Please.

I'd be amazed if these dates sell out instantly. The Troxy I'll grant as a one off but multiple nights at the Apollo, and especially Brixton Academy? Like Clayhead rightly says, there's a recession on, and there's no 'legends' aura around them like there was in 05/06, and another 'comeback' tour just wont have the same appeal it had in 01/02.

Agreed on all points, although I should imagine they'll sell out reasonably sharply, even if only being bought up by people naively thinking they can still make a few quid on ebay.

As such, ebay prices will hit rock bottom just prior to the gig I should imagine.

Oh, and we're not in a recession Liam, and haven't been for two years now, though may well be back in one soon, obviously.!

Oi! Less of the Brummie bashing....:nonono:

It should be remembered that the Order have performed some of their best gigs in my fine city, Tower Ballroom 83/85 and 86 spring to mind. Just hope they don't think they are playing the same place this time......as it isn't.

Brum on a Saturday night is a bit on the wild side if you know where to go....

Nuu Ordah!

I saw The Prodigy in 2009 and it cost me £25.

Nearly 40 notes is taking the piss. No VIP tickets? Hmmm.

I was at that 83 Tower Gig, It was a classic and I still listen to the Bootleg - Happy days :)

looking at the size of the birmingham venue, you have to wonder why they aren't playing other places like bristol as well

going to have to drive to birmingham now (train to london natch)

It holds just short of 3000 I think. The O2 Academy which was supposed to replace it (as the Ballroom/Hummingbird was due to be demolished but canned with the Financial crash) holds about the same - where the Mondays are playing.

Ironically the O2 Academy used to be the Dome nightclub which as I recall New Order were special guests on the opening night in 1985..not playing live though.

that's a bit harsh

lets put it into perspective

how much does it cost to watch stoke city?

i'm sure it won't be a million miles away from the price of a new order ticket

yet a game of football can be total dog shit, your team could get hammered and you may not enjoy it one little bit

£38.50 isn't so bad

lee wrote:

You mean people have to pay

The tickets are a rip off to see New Order, I just looked at other prices to see upcoming groups at Glasgow Academy. The Kaiser Chiefs, Stranglers, and Orbital are all at £23 - £25 for tickets. Same venue and costs , so why are New Order tickets over £10 more?

Got one for Brixton, went on sale around 8:57.

Must admit best part of 50 notes is a bit steep so that will do me for now. Might decide to do Manc closer to the time if the logistics work out and a spare comes up.

Plenty of Birmingham tickets around still, seemingly.

I have updated my signature accordingly!

Well, Brmnghm sorted, wasn't so stressfull afterall.

Will have the same excitement tomorrow as in that tickets for the lowlands festival will go on sale. Sold out (50.000 tickets) in 2 hours last year. So, guess who will be up early in the morning tomorrow?! (not that early, sale will start at 11, but hey...)

Will do... Thanx Ger Boy... I was looking at a couple of those ticket reselling sites (touts to you and me)... £55 each... Not unreasonable I guess, but for 2 tickets they were asking for another £50+ for postage and booking fees etc... How do they get away with it..? Anyway I'm gonna hold out for a bit as you said...

I got 2 for the first Brixton gig for me and my London-based pal at 09:01 on SeeTickets no bother. Return train tickets from sunny Doncaster procured last Friday (£19 and change), 2 days off work booked! Bring it on!

Frank Turner at Wemberlee on 14/4, then The Order on 2/5 is a pretty good couple of weeks!

Lets just hope they've decided the fans deserve a new setlist..... ;-) Troxy was excellent (especially hanging out with Dick from Dick and Dom for a bit at the upstairs bar), but they have such a rich back catalogue it would be nice to mix it up a bit sometimes.
