apparently, it's "triangle" http://thescenestar.typepad.com/ss/2012/08/presale-new-order-at-the-greek-theatre.html
THANK YOU. Alas, the only 2 seats I could get were the Benches. PASS. These pre-sales I tell ya...Hope for better luck tomorrow.
Of course, Stub Hub is already showing a bunch of tickets available. GA Pit from $200.00. BROKERS DIE.
I know.
Was straight on, refreshing the page at 59 mins, selecting GA within seconds of it going live, still best I could get was Section B. Wolfram was the same.
These are just organised scalpers or, if you like, a set of cunts.

Same here --- best I was able to get was center B row W. Got 2 tix. Will try again during general public sale tomorrow.
mdiver65 wrote: What a joke. Right on at 10am and couldn't get 2 anywhere.
Keep trying... it's usually because there is a lot of people trying to do the same thing. I think the only available tix at this point are in Section C.
Yeah, I'm getting pairs now in Section C. Still going to Pass. Will buck up if have to to be closer. Praying at least Sec B comes up.
I've got terrace seats and section C.
Don't hate..but I think I am going with brokers. Have too many errands to run today. Ridiculous to sit in front of the computer and keep refreshing...![]()

So who's been to this place before?
How big is The Greek...like are we at least in the same zip code as the stage if we're out in Section B?
I've been to the Henry Fonda which I would call a mid size venue, was sat in the back row of the seats just along from Julian Casablanca or whatever the guy from The Strokes is called. Hopefully a beter venue than that.
mdiver65 wrote: $180 pit + fees now StubHub....
I mean really it's up to you, but the only way these scum will stop is if they can't sell at these rip-off prices. Hold your nerve and prices will come down.

Fair enough, it's your cash.
I love the way you guys refer to them as 'brokers', gives them an air of respectability that I'm not sure they deserve.
Can't we just call them cunts, it' far more accurate.
I am back...being the NO fan, I have to push other errands behind and get my tix now!
JG: I have been to the greek. Parking is PITA FYI. Most folks park far away and walk. Small venue in residential area.
Yeah, what do we think of having this in an open air theater? I would have preferred NO indoors but not sure where.
It's really a joke, for the first Roseland show, tickets were on stubhub before the presale (assuming it was scalpers anticipating using whatever connections they have to start the bidding). On the day of the presale, there were 600+ tix on stubhub, as I write this, there are around 700 which is somewhere between 1/4 - 1/5 capacity. It was great to see the prices fall precipitously as the 2nd Roseland gig was announced. Ticketmaster really enabled the scalpers in this case (irrespective of them owning stubhub and benefiting from commission pricing of stubhub sales); the ticket limit purchase for thursday was 50 tickets (or that was how far the dropdown menu went) and the limit was only 3 for Friday. Hopefully those who bought with an eye to making money on Thursday tickets lose a fair amount.

Did you say OPEN AIR ??
I didn't realise that. That sounds cool.
Anywhere to get a drink nearby before hand?
Vince - thanks for the heads up, we won't have wheels so guess we'll take a cab out there. LA's public transport is shite yeah?

Woah!
Ticketmaster OWN StubHub?! FFS!
How corrupt is that?. Can't believe that set up is even legal.
Ah well, welcome to America baby. Land of the free.
You gotta laugh.
ah, I misspoke - stubhub is owned by ebay, ticketmaster bought a direct competitor of stubhub. still...slimey as can be.

Thanks for the link Mark, looks alright. Bit out of town but not too far.
Anyone go to the Area One gig in '01, out in Devore? Last time they were in LA. We stopped on Washington Boulevard, about 10 minutes walk from the Ocean. Thought, it can't be THAT far to the gig, took 2 hours in a taxi!. Still, they did New Dawn Fades with Moby, Fruschianti, Gillian and Kim Gilbert and Corgan was still hanging around, so worth it over all. Can't remember how we got a cab back from there.
JG: are you johnny giles? We've met. I was the same Vince who drove you guys back to Venice! lol! 11 years it has been.
I recommend stay close to greek theatre. So you don't have to worry about transportation.
Btw, no luck with tix. Screw this.

Vince! I completely forgot about that...my memory is shot sometimes ![]()
We were very grateful for your help. Would be great to meet up again. I'm sure something will come your way, just keep an eye on the usual places. It's a pain in the ass, I'm in the same boat as you for Oakland. Just gotta be patient.
I'll defo buy you a beer for that ride, but you'll need to remind cos I'll forget again ![]()

Was reading thru this thread... I couldn't believe that some of you have not been to the Greek, but then I finally realized the Vikings thing...
Anyway, Section B at the Greek is pretty close, though I know you all may want to be closer. I was just there for another show this Sunday, and was sitting in the middle of Section B. The Greek is a rather intimate venue.
One thing to keep in mind - New Order plays L.A. on a Sunday, and the Greek is in a residential neighborhood, which means the show will start and end on time (10:00 pm). There's a really strict curfew here, especially on Sundays. Shows at the Hollywood Bowl and Greek start earlier than what you may be used to on Sundays. I once missed half of Radiohead at the Bowl because I didn't realize this.
Hey JG, it's great to catch up!
Unfortunately, 7 days left to go and I have yet to score any tickets. Tempting to get them off brokers. We will see what happens.
Will keep a look out for Vikings.

Vince, I'm relying on you to recommend a pre-gig boozer?! Or is Ersatz able to assist here?
It's a Sunday so I was hoping folk can get down nice and early to enjoy a beer beforehand.
Any suggestions?

It's gonna be like 100 degrees this entire week in L.A. I recommend checking out this place called Mexico City, located on Hillhurst in Los Feliz. Great margaritas there.
As I posted earlier, the Greek is in a residential neighborhood going uphill... very scenic and pretty, but the bars and places best to go are below the hill in Los Feliz.
Thanks Ersatz, appreciated.
This looks more like a restaurant than a bar...is that right? I was thinking of somewhere where we could just like, well, drink!
Are there any regular bars around there?

There's a bar inside Mexico City, but it's mostly a restaurant altogether.
Hillhurst and Vermont, both leading up to the Greek have a few bars. Some famous ones too:
Dresden Room on Vermont: 1760 North Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 9002 1739 Public House on Vermont: 1739 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027 Good Luck Bar on Hillhurst: 1514 Hillhurst Avenue, Los Angeles, CA Vinoteca on Hillhurst (mostly wines): 1968 Hillhurst Avenue, Los Angeles, CA Harvard & Stone on Hollywood Blvd.: 5221 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA - a little bit further off, but cool.
JG,
I think Ersatz nailed down some good places within walking distances. This weekend should cool down a bit. Still warm. :P
Let's shoot for 1739 Public House on Vermont: 1739 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027?
What do you guys think?
* still scouting for tickets.

Fine by me!. I'll pm you my number.
Finally scored some tickets.
So, for those in LA, let's meet up at 1739 Public House around 6pm?
