So, you know the way artists make f&ck-all from selling albums these days? And you know the way bands like NO get paid many many thousands of pounds to play an hour or 90 minutes at a festival? [This article about the relatively small Camp Bestival going bust gives us an interesting insight: £175k for London Grammar. £105k for Plan B, £70k for Mura Musa (who?)]
Do you ever get the feeling that NO are just caning the live circuit to maximise their retirement fund, and aren't too interested in the less lucrative business of making more music? I guess it's fine if you just want to see them live (and I did at Ally Pally in 2018 where they must have grossed almost half a mill for one gig: £50 x 10,000). But if you'd like them to actually make more music, then it's not so ideal.
