New Order added to the lineup, but I imagine tickets are all gone by now: NME

They've announced the set times (and this is for Barcelona but I imagine its pretty much similar for all the Primavera sites), and they're only playing for 75 minutes from 23:05 to 00:20 so I'm assuming its an even more stripped back version of the average set they played with the PSBs.

One bit of good news, they're on before Blur who aren't on stage until two in the morning, so if you do have a ticket, then you can see NO then bugger off back into town to beat the rush and have a couple of nightcaps somewhere on the way.

^ Cheers for head up. If i'm not mistaken , you can take a free 1 month trial of Prime once every 12 months. Think i read that. So may take up the offer and catch the gig.

I'm going to be in Dublin seeing Pulp when these shows take place so won't see it either way but the fact its being filmed makes me hope there will be a chance to see this again at some point in the future.

They've put posts upon their Insta and Facebook pages asking for suggestions for their first number tomorrow and we get people asking for Regret and Crystal FFS? I went for EGG on Insta and Draculas Castle on FB: won't make the slightest difference to what they play but you have to have some ambition [:d]

Amazon Music seems to suggest it will also be available to watch through that. I subscribe to it so if correct i wouldn't need to take out a one month free trial with Prime to watch.

Twitter as well. I agreed with someone's tweet about playing something new. They opened with "Touched by the Hand of God" when I first saw them in 1987 and it blew my mind. Didn't know it existed as I hadn't gotten into bootlegs at that point. Also suggested they could kick off with "Blue Monday". They haven't done that for ages and it would start the gig with a bang for the more casual fans at the festival.

Wrong. I cannot access video stream through Amazon Music. So i signed up for a 1 month free trial of Prime.

Are they actually going to show any New Order? I went on Prime abut ten minutes ago and its been a non-stop parade of wankers sharing their 'hilarious' festival anecdotes, the type of people that make you move a few hundred metres if they stand anywhere near you at concerts/festivals.

Not sure we're going to see NO's set on Prime, Ken, if THIS schedule is anything to go by.Can anyone make sense of it? It seems to state that different broadcasters have different acts. For example it lists Amazon as only showing Antonim, Joe Crepesculo, Ghost, Rema, Alison Goldfrapp and Darkside tonight.New Order are listed as only on Estrella Damm? Have i understood that right?

Or is it an Amazon Music sponsored stage and NO aren't performing on that stage and therefore won't be broadcast on Prime's stream? Oh i've worked it out.It is indeed an Amazon Music sponsored stage.Just clocked the Amazon Music logo stage left and right with this Rema guy on now.So as NO are on the Estrella Damm sponsored stage we won't be seeing them.

Amazon did NOT make this clear in their promo spiel.

Ah well, at least i didn't pay for it

Although on Channel 2 now is a singer called flowerovlove whom according to the schedule was on the Cupra stage earlier on. So Prime are showing her set (albeit not live) even though she wasn't on the Amazon Music stage.I really haven't got a clue now on what acts will be shown and which won't.Maybe NO's will be shown at a later time? Dunno.Think i'll just forget it and go to bed.Goodnight.

I'm glad you've done the donkey work on this, cos I was confused (from a distance).

Looking at Primavera's YouTube channel, they do seem to upload full sets from various acts after the festival. I don't know if that's just for one stage though...

Here's the Jesus & Mary Chain and The National from 2022, for instance:

Looks like they will showing NO after Perfume, whose set has just started being shown: so possibly in an hour or so? I'm not wasting any more time watching the absolute rubbish I have been bombarded with, I'll have a look tomorrow.

Well i stayed up and watched it in the end.Yep, they ran it after NO finished.Whole set was shown.Tried to capture it but unfortunately my OBS capture buggered up and wouldn't play ball.Oh well.I'm sure the show will turn up on YouTube or elsewhere.

That intro they are now using....it's... um, oh what is it?? I kind of recognise it😕 Oh hang on, i know what it is i think... it sounds at some points like the intro to the Biff & Memphis remix of Touched By The Hand Of God?

Show was generally great.Big smiles in the audience.BLT sounded good.Bernard's singing at times though...hm.

Seemed one or two tweaks in some songs since i last heard them. Some extra bass synth (Sorry i don't know how to describe it) in Age Of Consent? Phil did a fair few bum notes in YSF.

I managed to capture the first half before the stream capture crashed. So I've got the set up to and including Subculture

I though Age Of Consent was excellent and Be A Rebel sounding much better than previous live outings I've heard

Still no surprises in the set though - pretty much their standard festival set

Oh you're right. But then a gap and a "guess who we are" before Regret. A straight segue woulda been better. And before the TBTHOG intro, a classical intro, but not das Rheingold. They've moved from Rachard Wagner to Richard Strauss: Tristan Und Isolde. EDIT: No wait, this is Wagner too! My classical knowledge is letting me down! We know that das Rheingold was 'inspiration' for All Day Long. I'm wondering if Tristan und Isolde might have been inspiration for...um, Sunrise? Or Vanishing Point?

Right on cue. Let's hear it for the hardest working band in showbizzness. That was average with a setlist to match.

Any chance they will pack it in soon so I can stop moaning or are they dragging it out for endless farewell laps.

You've got me there.Have to profess my ignorance of Tristan Un Isolde.

On second watch of the intro , the very first few seconds do indeed sound like a distant cousin of or inspiration for the start of Sunrise.

I wasn't expecting much from the setlist and they didn't prove me wrong

But i gave it a watch and tbh i really enjoyed it....at the end of the day they're my favorite band and have been for 30+ years, playing songs that mean a lot to me(mostly)

I'm looking forward to seeing them again in oct now but i do wish they'd call it a day....although a big farewell gig would be nice for when they do

Just realised that the Madrid weekend is also streaming content on Prime. No idea if they will show NO again, or not but if they do I hope they swap out more than just the one song in the setlist

Today's Primavera Madrid is cancelled due to the weather - so no New Order tonight.

Oh, i somehow hadn't grasped that they also played in Porto last night as part of Primavera. Was this show on Prime also? Would have tried a capture if i'd known they were playing.

Was this a rearranged appearance because Madrid was cancelled on Thursday?

I'm not sure. I don't think I was aware that this gig was happening until after the event. Maybe it was a rescheduling following the Madrid cancellation, as you say.

Looking at the setlist, it appears to be almost identical to the Barcelona set (one track different?). The highlight appears to be a false start to True Faith.

It does look like it was announced a while ago (long before the Madrid cancellation) https://pitchfork.com/news/new-order-to-headline-primavera-sound-2023-editions-in-june/ but i had also missed the fact that they were playing. I think Amazon Prime only had Barcelona (2 channels) and Madrid (1 channel in Spanish only). There was nothing for Porto when I looked

Primavera Porto website does seem to suggest that it was live streamed on Twitch though, so someone may have captured it that way

Barcelona was on Amazon, YouTube and DimeADozen but I've only seen fan-made clips of Porto on YouTube so far.

They played Academic in Barcelona but swapped it out for Restless in Porto. The clip of True Faith shows that it wasn't a full power cut, just the P.A.

Thanks Andy! I enjoyed that!

See - proof that gremlins still still bug NO's live gigs. :-D

It was sounding quite decent up to that point (although Bernard needs to stop with that 'yodelling' style singing; there are times when he drops it briefly during that performance and it sounds much better for it, IMO).
