F*#king O2 again. I guess NO have reached legacy/legend status now, and quite franky I wish they hadn't. I miss the days of Brixton Acedmy in terms of both price and venue size. Not gonna rush to this. I don't know if I'll ever see them again if this is their "level" now. Maybe if they announce a farewell tour...

I managed to Shazam songs in their Glastonbury performance (BBC) on several occasions last year. Live shouldn't be easily shazam-able. I realise that "dance"/electronic acts are more likely to use backing 'tapes'/hard drives etc, but these guys act as though they're playing live when half the time not even their vocals are live.
When the female vocals kick in...you can Shazam it.
Do I sound a bit grumpy?
Here's an official NO social media thingy. It looks nice doesn' it? ![]()

Looks like they've taken inspiration from the EU flag for that. So all the Brexiteers can f*#k off. Innit!
I have to admit that the choice of Glasgow venue isn’t great but then I’ve seen them at the secc as well and that was just a big boxy hall

Yeah i get what you're saying but i don't view Confidence Man as an act to be taken too seriously. They're just a great night, great party by from what i've seen clips of and read. And i'll have no bad words said against the truly fabulous Janet Planet, do you hear me?! ![]()
Anyone got a clue how to get in on the pre sale - for Leeds specifically? I’ve heard a rumour it will be through “Three+” so I got access to that but can’t see anything suggesting it will have something come a hour’s time.
I’m obviously at the grumpy old man stage in life and had to look up the support. Found the studio version of one track and then the Glastonbury “live” version. Prett much indistinguishable. Aqua did it better with Barbie Girl

That's the presale.....keen prices[:eek]
No idea how to get a code though i'm not on 3...but if you could dm me one i'd be very gratefull![]()

Those prices aren't dynamic priced...if they was they'd rocket up in price if they was selling
I've started taking my teenage daughter to gigs that she wants to go too and last year was looking at one and it was £200 standing....i apologized and said no way am i paying that and to put it into perspective look at the price of a leeds festival day ticket...which she did and thankfully agreed to go there...that was an experience but that's another story![]()
Not long later i was looking at arcade fire tickets on release day and the price was shocking on ticketmaster...but ok on seetickets which i couldn't understand
A few weeks later the springsteen business hit the news so that's when it clicked what was happening with the tickets my daugher wanted and the arcade fire....at the moment only ticketmaster use the dynamic pricing so try to steer clear of them if you can...and its up to the artist if they let them use it as i asked paul heaton on twitter as he sets his tickets at £30 and he explained it to me!
So them prices are face value[:eek]
Sorry for the ramble
I just double checked what I paid for the recent gig in New Orleans. $112 all in. That's about £90 at the current exchange rate. Not too far off, but the Orpheum in New Orleans isn't some big arena, it's a theatre with a capacity of less than 2000. So I think you have a right to grumble.
...but then again, I paid $324 for an ok seat at a Depeche Mode gig in San Jose a week later. So things could be much worse.
On the other end of the spectrum, you have Robert Smith's efforts to keep prices for The Cure gigs down. They're charging extra high prices for the first few rows of the venues (people would pay too much for these in the secondary market anyway) to subsidize lower prices for the rest. This is overall for the better, but does create a downside that more people aren't priced out, so there's more competition for the tickets.
I was on the fence about seeing them, but a friend was getting tickets and invited me to join. Unfortunately, he could only score General Admission ones for the lawn at the back of the Shoreline Amphitheatre. I decided to pass (and he wasn't thrilled either). He then bought tickets to a show they added up in Portland, Oregon, but I don't feel compelled to make that one.
I replied to one of the (several) facbook posts by NO plugging these gigs, saying I wouldn't pay the prices. Soneone said to me "I suspect you won’t be going to many major events then".
Here's the thing. It's a gig, not the fooking Olympics.
When I saw NO play Brixton Acedemy in 2001, 2005, 2012 and 2015 (hope I've got those years right) they were just gigs. And tickets cost me somewhere between about £28 and £40 per ticket over those years. It was a gig and it was fine. Maybe better than fine.
Just because it's at an arena and costs shitloads of £££ doesn't suddenly make it a "major event". It's a gig that costs more, where you're more likely to be miles away from the band. Whoop de doo!
If people would refuse to pay these prices then promoters/ticket agencies/artists/whoever wouldn't be able to charge them. I guess I can't tell other people what to do. But within the past ten years I remember a band (maybe the arctic monkeys, maybe someone else, it doesnt really matter) railing against ticket touts and saying: "we wouldn't pay over £60 a ticket to see us, don't give in to the touts". Now the official prices are up to the level we used to associate with unscrupulous touts. And I ain't playing that game. 'Smaller' bands (or relatively cheap festival tickets) it is for me from now on.
Yes, there's a huge gulf between big Ticketmaster concerts and gigs in clubs and theatres, even in an expensive city like San Francisco. I just bought tickets to see Nation of Language at The Independent there. $27.50, out-the-door. Once this band graduate to slightly larger venues, Ticketmaster (or another similar service) will step in and prices will jump to $60, minimum.
I just don't have the enthusiasm to catch them live anymore. I've seen them umpteen times over the years and can't justify paying £75+ now for a ticket and then travel and accomadation costs. The last time i saw them, at Bluedot 2019 i was just bored with it all and the relentless clapping & hundreds of folks with their phone cameras in the air. And i got the vibe that night that all NO are interested in now is gigging, no desire to record and release new music.
I'd rather pay around £40 and catch other artists and bands i've never previously seen. I saw Spiritualized finally for the first time last year, had been a fan for years and it was an incredible concert.
I'll still buy anything new NO release but that seems increasingly unlikely despite vague mentions they make of working on new stuff.
I can't bring myself to buy a ticket....i keep putting them in the basket and not going through with it
I can't put my finger on why but it's a mixture of price, don't like arenas, joy division encore...they seem to have been doing the same show since MC came out...intro/visuals etc
Not that i haven't enjoyed it every time i've seen it though because i have...but it seems a long time from liverpool olympia to heaton park (didn't bother with the 02)
I think i'll see if anything changes when the tour starts and if it's changed enough i'll get a ticket on twickets or see/ticketmaster resale

Agreed. It will be a total rave up with Confidence Man - a smart support choice but will be full on lazers, strobes etc. I'll stay at home and moan about the setlists as they come in lol. And how is 3 dates a UK Tour?
Been on holiday, checked my emails when I got home and see NewOrder have announced some uk dates. Fairly excited then saw the venues they are playing, proper sad face :(. Really don’t like those large corporate venues, my least favourite new order concert from recent times was 02 in London.
I agree with Fotz not sure if the price is worth it at such impersonal venues, especially without any new material. For the first time in ages May give this one a miss. I did check out the Leeds venue but seating only? Is this correct? Seems strange.
Anyway saw Hooky last week at Manchester Albert hall doing closer and PC&L. Great venue, about 2000 people going mad doing 2 of the greatest albums of all time with an encore of Hurt, EGG, TEMPTATION, BM and a storming version of LWTUA. One of my favourites venues. Wish new order would do 5 nights at a venue like this.
Unlikely I will go to one of these UK dates but then I panic thinking this may be last chance of seeing them due to age of band so could still be tempted.
The gigs after no Hook started so well playing interesting venues with about 5000 capacity. Great one offs such as Jodrell Bank. Then got a new album, band on fire again and seem to be really enjoying themselves. Then we got MIF lots of old tracks done in an interesting way with keyboard orchestra in Granada studios. After that saw them at Alexandra Palace large venue but great performance. Seems to have a bit stale since although I did enjoy Heaton park after COVID.
I can understand why they do a few large venues rather than lots of smaller ones, but…….Still the best band ever but first time I’ve not gone and rushed to get tickets.
Like fotz said May use money to see lots of new bands, just bought Nation of language tickets rescue room notts, looking at dot to dot also in Notts. Off to see Panda Bear with sonic boom (ex spacemen 3) in Manchester next week all for a fraction of the price
Also seen spiritualized lots of time and they usually don’t disappoint in the blowing of minds

Go or don't go. Don't piss and moan about the venues and "it's not like it used to be." They've EARNED the right to be at this level. You aren't like you used to be, either - but that's what you want, to go back and relive your youth. Watch the Movement, or Power, Corruption & Lies, or Low-life DVDs and free up a ticket for someone who really wants to be there.
I will never pass up a chance to see my favorite band.
Nah. I'll spend my money on seeing a band or artist who's now more inspiring and revitalising, thanks.Would love to see Jon Hopkins live. Or Weyes Blood. Or even Spiritualized again. You go carry on going to see New Order to relive your youth.

You post rather a lot here for someone so disinterested.
My tickets are booked for the largest venue they've ever played in Ireland. If it turns out to be the same show I saw in Heaton Park two years ago - great, I particularly enjoyed hearing Vanishing Point. Although the Manchester-is-brilliant intro would be a tad odd played in a trainshed in Dublin.
Tickets were dear enough, but PSB earlier in the year in the same venue are dearer.

Actually I'm happy to go back to... 2015 when they were playing Brixton Academy for £40 a (standing) ticket. And had a new album. What have they done since then to EARN the right to play enormo-domes and charge £75+ a ticket? Released "Be A Rebel"? Do me a favour!

There's one born every minute. There will always be people who will justify the price etc and say "its quite reasonable, I'll pay". Congrats on having lots of disposable income. What are they grossing, £1m per gig?
I would suggest the people packing out the O2 arena on the forthcoming tour are actually the ones reliving their youth and/or the '80s. Most of them (50% anyway) probably weren't at Brixton in 2001 or 2005 (or even 2015) when NO were promoting current abums. And numerically they can't have been, because they wouldn't have fitted in the venue!
A new album might encourage me to see them again, but just gigging for the £££ when not much has changed since Ally Pally 2018 seems cynical. Feel free to fall for it! I'm sure the NO multimillionaires will be grateful for the pension money.

They still have standing tickets for leeds on seetickets £65 plus fees
Its funny you should say you may start thinking it'll be the last chance as that's what i always say to my mrs everytime they announce gigs....and its what she said to me when i said i wasn't going
Anyway i panicked and bought standing tickets...the standing section at leeds arena is actually very small so i've justified buying them by telling myself i'll block out that i'm in an arena![]()
Put me in the camp of 'probably won't go and see them at those prices'.
Much as I still enjoying seeing them live (although I would prefer to see them either touring new material or some 'deep cuts'), I can't really justify the expense. Although I could afford it, it just seems a bit frivolous to spend probably £200 (inc. ticket prices, transport, hotel, beers and more beers) on the event. All to see the band perform pretty much the same set as they were doing when I last saw them at BlueDot and Ally Pally. If I lived in Leeds, London etc., and could keep costs to minimum, I'd probably consider it. However, to get to these venues from leafy Salop would cost me an arm and a leg. (Incidentally, that's pretty much why I didn't go to the O2. I bought a ticket when the gig was announced, then thought better of it, closer to the event.)
As I've said before, I don't begrudge the band for repeating sets, playing big venues and, consequently, charging large sums; as £50note says, they've well and truly earned it. However, I think we've all also earned the right to decide how we spend our hard-earned cash. If we don't think the ticket price is worth it, that's our prerogative. Doesn't mean we like the band any less. Besides, we can drop that cash on other band-related material (those wonderful box sets we're getting, for instance) and still help Bernard and co top-up their well-deserved pension.

Not sure when you say 'here' you mean this thread or the forum in general. I post a lot in the forum in general because i'm still interested in chatting about the band, be it about the defintive edition box series, the songs and albums in general, old footage or previously unearthed footage and many other NO topics. Doesn't mean i want to pay out a lot of money to go see them live again performing pretty much the same songs i've seen them perform a hundred times before.

One thing I forgot in my post last night (cos it was past 3am) was this:
The people saying "take my money" for these gigs - which have no new material to support - are actually encouraging the band to live in the past. They're enabling NO to just dig out the old "hits". I've been waiting for NO to knuckle down on new muisc since the Ally Pally gig in 2018 (which I only went to because it was local and I had those 'last-time' thoughts).
NO are in danger of being a tribute act to themselves, which Stephen said (to Mark Radcliffe) in the Music Complete era that they were NOT trying to be. They're no more current or relevant now than Hook & The Light.
If the retro-punters would stop enabling NO with these "cha-ching" gigs, the band might knuckle down and work on something substantial like they did with MC. I want to live in the present. I want more music while NO still exist. NO are giving us more gigs with more ££ on the ticket price and more seats in the venues.
I believe it is better to want more music/art than to want more cash. And Bernard & Co are considerably richer than me! I'm concerned about my pension, not theirs!
When they're counting the cash from these gigs, I wonder if the band ever find themselves humming Restless?
"How much do you need? How much, how much do you need?"
Good point D.
I suppose what I was saying is that, annoying as it, you can't really blame them for not knuckling down and writing new songs.
The band have always been a bit glacial when it comes to writing new material. If one can make (much) more money gigging, that'll probably be the option they'll chose.
Exactly Debaser, how much do they need? I'm not bothered about new stuff because if it was any good we would have heard some by now, similar to what happened before MC which I think was more a reaction to Hook. Now it's people "liking" Gillian's backstage fridge contents on social media, FFS don't encourage them.
Fellow Mute labelmates A Certain Ratio have worked their backsides off releasing 2 fresh albums and 3 EP's since MC came out.
And I hope I'm consistent - I moan about everything. Setlists, venues AND the price of boxsets! I still love their music though.
I understand the various attitudes fans have, and they're certainly all valid.
My attitude is that, at this point, you never know if it will have been your last opportunity. FOMO was certainly a factor when going to New Orleans in March. I should have been satisfied from the three gigs I did last year but you never know... Thoughts of not going to the Miami residency before COVID hit still haunted me.
And when I say last opportunity, I mean someone in the band just might not be up for it next time. And let's hope it's their decision and not a health issue that decides it. I hate to think that way but admit it could be a factor at this stage in Bernard, Gillian and Stephen's lives.
Well, i may be more inclined to attend one of the gigs if they released a new song or two. Maybe a single with a great b side. Or an EP of 4 songs.I don't expect or think they'll do a whole album.New material seems unlikely at this stage though. I feel tapebias makes a good point in that a lot , though not all, of their motivation to record and release Music Complete was to get one over and back on Hooky.
Sheesh. Well, I managed to get 3 standing tickets with the Three pre-sale for Leeds. I had to borrow a Three phone from someone , and the code they could generate could only be used once. (I wanted to go back in and buy seats for some friends too, which I couldn't get the system to accept at the same time as the standing tickets: but I couldn't.)
I feel the price is sharply more than when I saw them recently (checks notes... oh, 2012. I haven't even seen Music Complete songs yet!). I'm not sure what's changed in their stature exactly but so it goes. I didn't catch MiF which looked incredible and everything post-MiF seems a little inspired by it.
FWIW, there were £45 seated tickets available in the pre-sale for Leeds, but they were in the Gods.
With much of their peak money making years happening under the financial black hole that was Factory; and not really making all that much of the music industries ridiculous financial peak either; I'd say they aren't *that* rich - and probably would have given up touring if they were.
New material would be nice, but I never really took to MC in the first place...
Compared to many of you, I clearly fall on the side of giving the band more slack in regards to the setlists and how it pertains to value for money, etc.
But don't think I can't empathize with you. I'm going through it right now with Echo & the Bunnymen. I love that band, and have been seeing them live just as long as I have New Order (same day and gig in 1987). Although I've seen them fewer times than New Order, memories of their gigs are vague because the set structure, if not the actual setlists have remained remarkably similar over the last 10 years or so. It's actually rare when they don't open a gig with "Going Up". And I think I've mentioned that the official Twitter account blocked me when I suggested their "Nothing Lasts Forever" medley might need a rest.
I saw them last Fall and granted, Ian was recoving from COVID. But it was hardly any different than the last 5 gigs of theirs I'd seen (other than the fact that Ian sat on a stool the whole time and the set was shorter). Why am I bringing this up? They're playing a gig only about 65 miles away from me in Saratoga next month. I know odds are it won't be drastically different, but it could very well be my last opportunity to see them. Tickets are $89.50 so figure well over 100 quid with fees. Should I save my money and vacation time (I'm seeing The Sisters of Mercy the same week), or hope for a gig to remember? The Mountain Winery is a lovely venue, it could be inspiring...
Wow, don't some folk act incredibly defensive when you point out that, irrespective of band history or whatever, something is actually quite expensive.
I guess some people wouldn't say shit if their mouths were full of it.
Personally, I'm done with Arenas and Festivals; switching between watching a dot on the horizon and a huge TV.
I'd happily do the Castlefield Bowl / MIF (equivalent) / Apollo / Olympia sized gigs if they chose to do them.
I'm happy to pay more to see Neworder than any other band. I refuse to be ripped off as a point of principle but that has a different definition when it comes to Neworder.
What it comes down to is one person might feel "They're charging too much for the same old thing, I'm losing interest", and another "They're charging too much, I need to put my money towards more necessary things". Neither will go, but it's definitely more frustrating for the latter.
Has anything gone down in price post-COVID? Some things are justified but too many seem to be purely motivated by greed. It seems companies feel as long as there is enough people than can afford something, they'll keep the price as high as possible, fair or not. I think when it comes down to ticket pricing complaints, it's not fair to direct them squarely at the band. Ticketing agencies have always been horrible, but now the venues, and band management (and whoever else gets a cut) want in on the gravy train. Did they not just announce a new management structure in January?
Complaints about static setlists and performances however, are fair game. But were those early eighties gigs short and without encores purely based on the band's principles? I would argue it was partially down to an early indication of a lazy streak...
Well after my moaning found out as a treat my good lady has arranged for a trip to Copenhagen for a short city break. Same time as new order are there so myself and daughter are now going! First time I’ve ever seen new order abroad so now excited, I now know how a Viking feels.
Brixton Academy already looked like it wouldn't be available for this tour time schedule; it almost definitely won't be now:
This will probably be part of why the O2 was chosen.
They've taken out a full page ad in the latest issue of Mojo to let the world now that them and Confidence Man are going on tour, which is more than they've done on the last few UK tours (not that there are many places to put printed adverts these days, this was my last issue of Mojo, I used to subscribe to Q and when that closed down, the subscription transferred over to Mojo and I lasted a year before realising it is the same old shit bands every month and cancelled, unfortunately I did so after they renewed it so I had another twelve months to come to terms with the depth of my error).
For those that want to investigate, there is also a tiny bit near the back about the show they did at Dublin Point in 1993, with a photo of Bernard, Stephen and Gillian alongside it (no idea why they couldn't find one with Peter) and how they didn't play any shows after Reading for five years after that but you can go into a Smiths and read both in less than a couple of minutes, not worth paying for it.
I'm on the mailing list for leeds arena and quite a few gigs there end up 2 for 1 i think new order's will end up the same tbh
Stephen and Gillian are going to be on Radio 6 next Wednesday morning to 'talk about the tour' which given it doesn't start until late September is making me think ticket sales haven't gone as well as planned?

I'm a bit surprised they've not announced more gigs surrounding the Darker Waves date. And not necessarily in the US. Mexico and South America have been a bit neglected of late. Primavera Sound Buenos Aires recently added Pet Shop Boys...

Caught int. just now.
They said there will be a Substance reissue expanded and to include live versions except Shellshock because they couldn't find a good live recording of it.
Stephen says he'll be doing a third book.
Stephen had Covid duribg the Porto gig in June and the power kept cutting out?

Ah yes, Lauren Laverne's show covered by Huw Stephens here at 1hr,6mins (to 1hr,21)
So Stephen discovered he had Covid two tracks into the gig? Hmm, I'm not sure how that works. Perhaps he did a test after the gig and realised that's why he was struggling?
And Gillian was also really ill during lockdown. Was that Covid as well? I remember when she fell down the stairs and ended up in Macclesfield hospital (as per this) but that was after the various UK lockdowns.
Good news that they're actively working on an expanded Substance. Perhaps this might reassure those who have been speculating here. The bad news that we can perhaps extrapolate is that they pobably haven't been working on new music during this lull.
Re: Shellshock Gillian on live versions of Shellshock "we said, lets do it like the record...If you listen to it now, it's completely bobbins -the order". I think she means the structure of the recording. Gillian: "John Robie was quite a character" Stephen "yes we'll just leave it there". Do they...sort of agree with Hooky on the subject of Robie?
Sorry for not posting link. I was in a rush on break at work and posting from phone.
I'm wondering now if Stephen slipped up saying a Substance expanded reissue and actually meant to say Brotherhood?
Great little interview with the both of them.
As I say every time, Steve is just a joy to listen to. He is a mine of info regarding New Order minutiae and just sounds like great fun to be around. Would love to meet the pair of them at some point.
Also, fab to hear Shellshock, rather than the obvious stuff (TF, BM, LWTUA, Regret etc.). It's always been a particular favourite of mine and I was glad it was resurrected for the MiF gigs. I always felt, before then, that the band were disowning both Shellshock and Sub-culture. Glad they obviously like them both
Was curious to what Stephen would write about in a third book. Just checked how he concludes his second book and it kind of finishes with Hook leaving in 2007. So i guess book 3 will pick up from there and the post Hook era, return to gigging and Music Complete.
I doubt that period would be all that interesting (comparatively speaking) to most people, although I would obviously still like to read it.
I just wondered whether or not he might do a third book on some other subjective. perhaps focussing on his love of music tech etc. Maybe his love of military vehicles. ;-)

Sometimes I get frustrated with interviewers when they don't follow up obvious points of interest (to me!). Steve talks about being grateful for walkmans - he is effectively saying: it's just as well bootleggers smuggled tape recorders into our gigs. Huw Stephens asks him what his sources are (video, fans, DATs), but when Steve says he's listening to lots of cassette tapes, Huw S doesn't ask where (from whom) he sourced those cassettes.
More importantly, Huw Stephens spent enough time asking about a book that neither of them wrote, and that he hadn't himself read (the Women at Factory Records book), but didn't grasp the opportuity to say to Steve: "Oh, 'difficult' third book? What's that about Steve?" SUCH an obvious question!!!
perspexorange wrote: I doubt that period would be all that interesting (comparatively speaking) to most people, although I would obviously still like to read it.
I just wondered whether or not he might do a third book on some other subjective. perhaps focussing on his love of music tech etc. Maybe his love of military vehicles. ;-)
Indeed, perspex. Not sure a book about the NO era 2007 up to present times would make a great book. That's why i'm curious what he would write about.Like you posted, maybe a book about tech or tanks?
Anyway, wasn't it revealed some time back Gillian is to write her side of the story? Would be very interested to read that. Wonder if she made any start or progress on it.
Yes i hear what you're saying Debaser about interviewers and Huw Stephens' failure to ask further about one or two things in today's interview.
Agreed with both of you regarding the lack of follow up questions. Very frustrating.
Yep - I'd be really interested to read Gillian's book. Again, the interviewer could've asked her if she had ever thought about writing a book herself (even if he dint know that there was a rumour that she was writing one).
Another other obvious question would've been "Oh, an expanded 'Substance'? Care to divulge any details about this? Any idea when this will be out?" etc.
Very much a missed opportunity.
Is this the beginning of the end? Is anyone going? No new material in 8 years, samey setlists etc. Maybe get Rick Astley in and give Ber'nard a rest.
tapebias wrote: Maybe get Rick Astley in and give Ber'nard a rest.
No way!
Ber'nard will never:
Give you up Let you down Run around Desert you Make you cry Say goodbye Tell a lie Hurt you All of the above.
Blossoms + Rick Astley doing an hours' worth of The Smiths at Glastonbury last month was great. I think it's still on iPlayer for another couple of days (for those in the UK).
I'd never heard Rick Astley swear before. Ironically he was probably more 'himself' singing The Smiths songs than he ever has been singing his own dross.

I've seen photos of the 2 "new" lads doing Quo like dual guitar posing. Anyone confirm if it's as bad in real life for armchair moaners like me.
From above, songs I dont want to hear (or see on the setlist) not to be taken too seriously.

"Back in the day", other members might have called out their rockstar posturing. I think it's more accepted now as long as it's not choreographed or too excessive.
Regarding those songs: I tend to agree except for "Sub-Culture" and "Decades". But really just appreciate "Decades" because it's not "Atmosphere", "Transmission" or "Love Will Tear Us Apart" yet again.

I was going to mention those two too. Classics and will always make an NO gig even better.

I’m quite surprised that Ceremony has been played every night. For a number of years, it always seemed to be sporadic. Like a bit of a treat.
I’m not complaining though. I could never get sick cf that song.

No songs have been played only 4 times now, so essentially the top 16 songs are pretty much dead certs and the bottom 13 songs are in the rotation pool. I'm going to guess that we won't see any more "new" entries to the tour song pool in Leeds, but who can say
I realise that Bernard has made comments before along the lines of "the fans aren't always right", and the fact that Shake It Up got played seems to compound the notion that, to some extent, they play what they want but...
No Singularity?
FWIW The Slicing Up Eyeballs poll several years back had Singularity as the highest ranked NO track from MC (Yeah, Bernard won't care...). It was also a single, with a music video and some decent remixes (including one from a forumite here, incidentally). But it hasn't been played once on this tour.
Was Plastic a single? No. It received a pretty lacklustre reception as far as I could tell at the O2 Arena. Maybe alternate those two? Just a thought.

Even if they weren't all gems, having 30 songs locked and loaded is commendable for such a short tour.

An I right in thinking that Singularity was also the first "new" MC track that they played (before the album came out)? I'd much rather hear that than Plastic too
Oh and I had a thought on Shake It Up as a weird choice. Maybe it was originally Phil's song and he pushed to give it a live outing? It certainly has that rockist guitar lick as the main hook, which he looked like he was enjoying

I believe so:
Singularity 30/03/14 Santiago, Chile Plastic 01/07/14 Chicago, USA
I think the other MC tracks weren't played live until after the LP came out.

That's correct. At the 2014 gig in San Francisco, we were treated to "Singularity" and "Plastic" (also a unique performance of the song "San Francisco"). They've been setlist mainstays for nearly a decade, but I'm surprised "Singularity" was the one they dropped (the guitar) first.
Fotz wrote: They've still never played live Nothing But A Fool. Is it really hard to do live?
I wish they would give it a go. I could see how people unfamiliar with it might consider it a downer/lull in the set. But I think it's an excellent song and fairly unique in their repertoire.
As I've mentioned before, "Unlearn this Hatred" seems a more likely candidate (and crowd pleaser). I think it's a superior track compared to "Guilt is a Useless Emotion" (and certainly "Shake it Up") if they're looking to pop a relatively recent, upbeat banger into the set. And surely the fact that it's from the current lineup must help its chances. I'm perplexed that "The Game" was chosen to air live before either of these Music Complete tracks.

I guess it has the fairly prominent female backing vocals and strings plus it's yet another one with prolonged 16ths on the hi-hats for Mr Morris (not that he seems to struggle!)
On the plus side, there isn't much sequenced keyboard on it and it's a great bass line for Tom that is very un-Hooky like
Still the one I listen to most off MC - and never understood why so many people are down on it

Happy to see more support for "Nothing but a Fool". The backing vocals don't seem to be an issue when you consider how often they've played "Tutti Frutti". That's a fun dance track. But I wish they'd leave it off the setlists unless someone shows up in person to do the co-lead vocal parts.

They missed a trick by not asking Confidence Lady to do vocals on Tutti Frutti, or maybe they did and Ber'Nard's ticker couldn't take it.
Anyway, let them put their feet up and rest after such a punishing tour schedule instead of baying for more unplayed songs ![]()

I will be stunned if they dust anything different off for the two California shows. The Darker Waves Festival gig, in particular, will likely be a no-surprises trot through the standards.
