That only one person on earth is crazy enough to overpay by 3-4 times an item to complete his collection :D
Sure, nice item to have, but we all know it's *the* rarest item from New Order...
...hehehe
...
...@ nic, btw.; what do u thinking 'bout that 'lwtua 2003' thing, putting into the bootleg songbrowser (I know, I'm troublesome)
, could be a legendary item sometime...

After sitting through countless of discussions on this forum, other forums, and mailinglists, you, and everyone else, should know by now that the value of an item is what a buyer is willing to pay. Sure, with New Order-standards the price is very high. But if you look into rarities from other groups (e.g. Beatles) then this is not an unusual price level.
I've been in the New Order-collecting arena for close to 15 years, and I have only heard about two people who has found this item (and bought it). I guess this auction will separate the serious collectors from the die-hard collectors... ;)
Is it the rarest item? Well, search this forum for a discussion and list by Murv, or search the Ceremony archives for extensive discussion regarding the topic. My opinion is: no. But it may be the most well-known rareist item (nice grammar).

TLV...I think it has become more of a light hearted piss taking...at least on my part...if I had the skins to drop on this stuff, I would do so...
I don't begrudge Mr. Sultan that he can afford to do this...if I had more money, I would have made more of the gigs last year in the UK and on the continent...I would have been like Jarvo and Co., and done all 4 of the Area: One gigs the year before...blah blah...
of course Nic may actually think it's foolish, I just say it shows David to be a die hard collector...and like I said, if I had the funds, I'd be fighting him tooth and nail for some of this stuff!
Yeah, ditto the two previous posts - if I had enough funds, I'd buy it straight away...
Good luck to whoever gets it - if I ever win the lottery, maybe I'll go for a copy some day! ![]()
l8rs,
Nick ;)

Altough the seller is someone from the Ceremony Mailing List, even a member here.. Marcio Katayama.. (who also is from Brazil if I remember right or some other country of South America)

i don´t have the pleasure to know her
i can tell you she is not argentinian. with that name i´d say is brazilian indeed. and by that i can tell you she must be millionaire because the Real is three times less than the US dollar. if she´s going all the way to get that item she may pass the 1,000 dollars for sure. that´s around 3,000 Reals which means 6 common salaries on this side of the planet. that´s quite a lot! ![]()
I've always thought it's ironic: paying more money for a track that has had bits removed from! Then again, it's never stopped me buying these rare seven inch versions.
I'd never spend more than a couple of hundred on an item like this though.
How do I get to that FTP thing to listen to a lo-fi version of this seven inch?
Andy.
Forget the ftp... anyone can make their own "exclusive Japanese edit" of Blue Monday. All you need to do is start it on the solo drum beat bit just before the vocal starts, and then turn the volume down to a fade just after the vocal finishes.
Easy.
And much cheaper.

You mean the bit where everything stops, and you just hear an open hi hat and bass drum banging eight times? Is that where it starts?
More to the point, do we know of anyone here who has actually heard (or owns) the mythical FAC737 UK seven inch version that there is supposed to be a handful of promo copies of? Does it exist, or is it just a myth? If it does exist, does that mean there's a seven inch edit of 'The Beach' floating around sowewhere too?
Andy.

Yep, that's it. Just make sure you fade it out four minutes and nine seconds later and voila.

We've discussed this before, opinion seems to be divided. IMHO, it doesn't exist. If it did, by now some keyboard show-off would have at least put a picture up for everyone to see. Even the other site can't make that boast.

In that case, does anyone know anybody with the Polish Tonpress DS-25-A 7" promo that clocks in at 5:05? What's the difference there? Longer ending/intro? Different edit?
Andy.

Does it include all eight drum hits, just four, or does it start with the bass and beats that come in just after those eight hits? Just trying to picture the edit in my mind's eye, as I'd never afford the seven inch on Ebay!
Almanso: this seller is brazilian guy. I changed sufficiently material with it I enter 1996-2000. It is very honest and a great collector. This 7"it must have two units.

Apparently it's a fade-out version of the regular 12". But I am not 100% sure though...
As for the UK 7" promo, my opinion is that no one has come up with solid material that it doesn't exists (and yes, that statement has been discussed elsewhere as well) so it will stay as an entry in the New Order Discography.

Dredged this up from the vaults.....Even $750 seems a little over inflated. As for the buy it now tag!!! I could buy a return ticket to the UK for xmas and shiver m`bollox off for that price.

7.JP 1984 7" Blue Monday (Factory/Nippon Columbia TD-1098) [promo]4:09 Blue Monday 4:09 Confusion 25 copies ($???)
-About $250 on a Yahoo auctions Japan a couple of years ago (I live in Japan). Never ever thought I'd find it.
Ok. That edit on that Japanese 7inch is a unique edit, not the fade out version from the Polish 7inch.
It is different.
Get the low-quality MP3 from the FTP server, and find out by yourself.
That low quality version that had been now doing the internet rounds for years was actually encoded by myself, as that's all the quality I was sort of "authorized" for unleashing. Sorry for that.

Can someone please tell me how I go about "getting it from the FTP server"?

I can only assume Mr Sultan already has one of the 29 other copies in circulation, still no bids ...

To have opened the bidding that high, the seller must have known there was a crazy mofo out there willing to bid $790
And speaking of Mr Sultan, it's always interesting to check his latest acquisitions..
Check this one:

it's so easy to win with a software witch do it for you 5 sec. before the end of auction... I lost TF87 qwest CD Promo like that![]()
Originally posted by Hélène's friend it's so easy to win with a software witch do it for you 5 sec. before the end of auction... I lost TF87 qwest CD Promo like that
Well, it comes down to how much you are willing to pay for an item. If you establish a max-price, even the best software in the world won't beat it unless the software-user enters a higher price. Then of course, the annoying part if another user is willing to pay your price + 1 dollar...
There are some non-price-conscious bidders on eBay, it is very hard to win against them. But that is the nature of the medium. Do not despair, this is the third time I've seen/heard the single for sale. The only item that I have known to be for sale, and that I have never been able to get is the Hurt/Obercorn misspress. I still kick myself for it today... :(
Next time, the promo single is mine. ![]()

sniping software is irrelevant if you're prepared to pay far more than anyone else for items, and judging by the world in motion site it looks like he already has one, scans have been up for ages in the discography

Having a picture copied off the internet does not confirm actual ownership.
People that are prepared to pay what it takes for an item are not the problem in my eyes.
It's the last second spoilt brat snatch that gets on my tits. If an individual is sufficiently interested in an item then they should have the courage to register a bid to be shot at. And if it also means that the individual has to be online in the middle of the night when the auction ends, then they should be prepared to do that as well.

If you have another look at the WIM discography the releases that MR$s have are in bold type the ones he doesnt are not.

The scans were those I provided him.
Along with a copy of the edit on tape back in 1997 I got photocopies of the sleeves (with a couple more from other releases).
I brought the photocopies along with me as we scheduled to meet (me & David) back in 1999 while I was in Miami.
I saw a bit of his collection + some (odd) videos. "World" live anyone ?
(He even took me with him for his flight lesson - and I got to cross Florida in a small 4 seat airplane - I was stunned !!!) ![]()

I guess it's a software doing that for you...
Nobody's THAT stupid!
However, I missed some auction like that at the last second and it pissed me off, because the email sent when someone bids over your bid comes when the damned auction is over...
Not useful!
last second bidding is a necessity since I know from experience that nobody ever puts in their maximum amount first time, they always come back after being outbid thereby pushing the price upwards. now if that didn't happen then the whole sniping thing wouldn't have emerged.
yep, mega rare.
you cant blame the sultan of bling ,surely if 99% of us had the money we would want it also!
different people have their favorite rarity, mine is the run 2 7" promo,of which incidently i have just bought for a song!!!!!!!!!
