Which is yours ?

I am in doubt between Bernard's fall during Crystal (Hultsfred Festival 2002) and his shock with the microphone in Temptation (Taras Shevshenko)

10,000 volts in your mouth isn't funny. Falling over at Hultsfred is the funniest I have known in 20 years +

This is why I like Sister Ray (High Voltage) :evil4:

This one is really very funny. Barney is always a very good chance to have fun while watching his videos :D

Are you people sure that he got an electric shock during that Taras thing? I favour the idea that he could't find the microphone due to the intake of various substances.

:D

His comments in Germany in 2001, in first part of Robbie Williams were among the most hilarious I think.

the falling was funny, but the look on his face and the little steps with his head down his shoulders after standing up, is just great!

Haven't seen Barney fall, so I've also gotta go with the Cologne show as well. Warning the audience to be careful if they ever drive in England cause 60 MPH is a lot faster than the German speed limit makes me smile. Also, telling them to think of saunas and naked skiing whilst introducing the very Bavarian song Your Silent Face is a laugh as well. I'm sure there are other great Barney lines, but I'll leave that to others.

The falling over thing in Sweden was pure class. Two songs later the PA failed too, during Regret, so the band were up there belting out the track and not a single one of us could hear a thing from below the stage. Spooky.

"Don't believe what you read in the press.......even if I say it" - Barney, Reading'93.

Funny 'cos it's true.

Reading 89 was a good one when he said, "I've seen all you Mission fans dressed in black picking your f*$£ing noses.:thumb:

"First try of 'Perfect Kiss' definitely aborted 'cos of equipment problems... Gillian's synth was playing up and a roadie came on to try and sort it out. They then played 'Ceremony' to fill in the time till he got the synth working."

Thanks to Philip Collins for the details!

Just about any performance of Lonesome Tonight during '85

???? That wasn't particularly funny...especially as I recall that at the time I was being crushed into the makeshift barriers at the Michael Sobell Sports Centre. Did you mean to quote that?

That might come as the least funniest apart from leaving the stage after Reading 93(I thought it was all over:cry:)

Was it during a special and unique performance of Turn the Heater On ?

Love me... Squeeze me... Tonight... :evil4:

I still can't work out the relevance of the quote...am I missing something?

Probably a Brazilian interpretation of "funny".....

Loadsa classics!

But I loved it when they debuted Guilty Partner at the MENA in 98 and fucked it up after just 30 odd seconds.....It really does add to the charm.......then again you could call them lazy bastards and they should do more rehearsing:evil4:

The banter is always a bonus though!

During Temptation on the 1987 Live at Brixton Academy video, Barney has difficulty singing the chorus whilst playing the guitar and ends up laughing. This always makes me chuckle!

barneys come out with some classics over the years, one that sticks in my mind but cant remember which gig. is where he asks the audience to stop pushing forward as people at the front where getting crushed. he then quips"and we dont want to be back here next week doin a f***ing benefit gig",and on retro of course"weve only come back on coz the doors jammed and we cant get out" should have been a comedian. top stuff.

It's from Central London Poly 6/12/85 - it was an AIDS benefit gig and took place a few weeks after a benefit gig at ULU for a disaster in Mexico (volcano or earthquake, I think). In between they'd also played a non benefit gig at Hammersmith Palais...those were the days - 3 NO gigs in about six weeks and a different set each time!

Of course, with enough time like that, they probably actually rehearsed.

Oh and the bit in Sweden last year where Barney talks about how Swedish people like pissing on each other...

I agreed with him when he said in Sweden last year:

"the girls are so beautiful here, the girls are so beautiful here and the girls are so beautiful here..."

gotta be cologne 2001 for me,as support to robbie williams. the crowd were less than ecstatic about of a few of the songs mr sumner was singing,he asked the crowd if they liked dance music, which ended up with rapturous applause,he then asked if the crowd liked "marching" music (obviously some sort of comment with nazi connotations!)the crowd went mad,so barney replied well you ought to get a fuckin life then!the crowd went silent ,i was of course pissing myself! brilliant and in front of 60,00 germans! steve smith,barnsleyfc.co.uk:smoking:

Barney missing the words is very common.

12/1/81 Eglinton Toll Plaza - Glasgow, Scotland

At the beginning of Cries & Whisper(Mesh???),he introduces the song as Atmosphere driving the audience wild. But then he says 'No,no,no,I'm sorry...' and a few more things :nonono:

how about that stateside concert

'never have i played in front of an audience more lethargic than we are'

then into blue monday: 'how does it fell? to play in front of a bunch of c*nts like you'

or on PFD video with 'turn that light off you c*nt' right in the pause in the middle of blue monday. plus after one of the songs something like 'i spent an awful lot of money on guitar picks writing that song and i'd appreciate it if you clapped some more'

actually that was odd anyway. coming onto stage to a ripple of applause then total silence apart from the occasional 'whoo' which echoed round the hall....

Reading or glastonbury...late 80's. After playing "all the way" ( badly even by NO standards) "sorry about that, but you've got to admit it, it was shit......but the next one's gonna be good thought cos it's all done all by computers" and they launch into round and round.

It's not Reading neither Glastonbury. They played for the last time in Glastonbury in 1987 before All The Way was written and at Reading they openned the set with Round & Round.
