Shug, i'm a Glaswegian and I have followed both halves of the Old Firm in my time and both sets of fans are as bigoted as each other although it's not uncommon for the Tims to think they're not as bad as the Huns. Into the bargain they both have a very narrow football knowledge and both think they're much better than they really are. That aside they have both provided me with many great moments through the years when I was glad to say 'I was there', i've seen probably 100 old firm games, from both sides of the fence, and practically every home European tie they've both played for the last 15 years. I've seen them both abroad at least twenty times each, one of the best was about 5 years back when some friends and I saw Rangers get blootered in Turin by Juve on the Tuesday and Celtic lose narrowly to PSG in Paris on the Wednesday. As long as you're enjoying it Shug, good on ye!

I know what you mean about the fans, in Corby it's half Celtic, half Rangers and a lot of my mates are bluenoses, the best night in Europe was Ajax in Amsterdam, you know what they say "when in...." 100 Old Firm games, fair play, I've only been to about 20, it costs a fuckin fortune travelling up all the time, best game this year was Celtic 4 Man U 3, day out in Manchester, bumped into Mani, who of course is a Utd and Celtic fan..great craic, what I wanted to know is are there any Rangers supporters up there that like New Order...for some strange reason I always thought Barney was a Tim

I seen Barney at Old Trafford once a few years back, it was near the end of the season they first won the league and he was bladdered as usual! I don't know if he has a particular alligiance to either of the Old Firm, I doubt it though. My best trip to see the Celts abroad was in the early eighties, my second away trip and it was to Madrid when they shat it big time and got a 3-0 doing! At the game their fans were really really hostile, pissing and spitting at us, we were terrified. Outside the stadium though it was as if it was a different group of people, they were friendly as anything and very welcoming.

I've usually found United fans to have allegiance to the East End of Glasgee, rather than West. City fans defo go for the Gers. The Guardian did a vote season before last on 'your favourite Scottish team' and Man City fans pissed it in the Rangers camp. Probably only cos most Chelsea fans have never read the Guardian! I remember being in the City end at Arsenal a few years back in the days of the terraces and City chanted "There's only one team in Glasgow" at the Arsenal fans, the entire game.
Celtic seem to have cornered the trendier, more left-wing, footie fan, whereas Rangers still find themselves encamped in that 'No Surrender' shite. It's the ones who aren't directly affected who always seem to be the worst - the fringe element. I did the Barras last month with a mate from the Shankhill who used to work down here, but has now gone North to Glasgee, and he was more than happy to drink in Bairds before the gig.
Anyone remember that daft casual fad of the mid 80's where you wore a two-coloured ski hat split with your team on one side, and your Scottish team on t'other. I must confess to having a Luton/Celtic one at the time, what with being brought up in the finest Cafflick tradition.
Allen, I can certainly remember the two tone hats, one of them was immortalised in one of the football hooligan films, can't remember which one, but the guy wearing the hat was from Grange Hill, and the hat was Celtic/West Ham

I remember the ski hat thing. At Blues I saw both Blues/Celtic and Blues/Rangers hats. Though its fair to say that the more, shall we say, hardcore element seem to prefer the Gers.
After living in Edinburgh for 8 years I don't have much time for either of the Old Firm, though my girlfriend is a Cellic fan from South Lanarkshire, which is surrounded by lots of one horse towns with a sea of current bun fans!
Celtic fans trendy ?! Certainly not the ones I saw at Easter Road though I saw a nice line in Irish tricolours!;)

Ach, I used to own a copy. Then someone 'borrowed it' and I've never seen it again. Classic TV right from the start with Dean Martin's "That's Amore" banging out as the ICC get the runaround on a footie pitch by Yeti and his Buccaneers, Yeti being played by one Phil Davis. Mickey Pearce from Only Fools was also in the ICC, as was a slightly younger Phil Mitchell from Easties.
Still on a footie note, I went to the Arse Reserves vs Man U U-19's in the Worthless Cup last night and Man U have got a new song to the choon of LWTUA. Couldn't figure the lyrics but it was basically just aimed at the Arse with the 'a-part a-gain' bit switched to say 'the-arse en-all'.
Who says that song ain't a terrace anthem anymore?!
I heard the chant to the tune of LWTUA as well, I was at work so I couldn't pick out the words through the interference on the radio, to say i was surprised is a bit of an understatement...Does anyone know the words?
