Wow - I am truly amazed to see that New Order fans like this track - to me it sounds like a bad Electronic album OUTTAKE (or "B-side") at best ,,, and I like Electronic much -but their stuff is always a bit more hit-or-miss than N.O., I thought ...

And as the next reply indicates (on the mark) it's "Dull" and "Generic" -- which is everything I thoguth N.O. was NOT ,,, (even at their most gloomNdoom)!

It's not the worst. It's just incredibly dull and generic.

I Love it. Would be in my top 5

Used to be a fan, but got incredibly bored of it. Bland, even compaired to tracks off Republic

It's a good jump up an down , down the front at gigs song, which is the most important thing.

Mind you the birds on the Baywatch set also sold it to me

How predictable! Maybe time for a Baywatch avatar Mike?

Don't forget, when Regret came out it was NO's first offering for 4 years, which made it extra-special. And it just rocks "live".

Whilst the Baywatch birds are fine, plastic tits and all, they do not compare to the natural beauty of the lovely Juliette, so I will keep my current avatar.

I was a short fuse burning all the time

Quality, classic New Order. It has something for everyone, guitars, bassline, synth parts, lyrics that actually make some sense most of the time......what more do people want ? Sorry it's not the UK Subs, or Erasure, but you are in the wrong forum if you don't get it.

I have fond memories of em opening with it at Reading 1998.

It was manic down the front, UP DOWN TURN AROUND !!

Have to agree with that.

Especially like the beginning of the video where they zoom in on all four one at a time. Nice.

Love it, how could anyone think it's the worst thing they've ever done?

Oh well, everyone's entitled to their opinion....:D

You must be kiddin?

This song is really beautiful. One of my favourites. Its one of those songs, who become better the more you listen to it. I really like the bass by hooky, it gives this song so much power.

One of their finer songs and also one of my faves. :D

I love this song. It's a far cry from "a bad Electronic outtake."

It's a fantastic tune! It has a wonderful intro that takes you in strong to the first verse which then sets the tone for the rest of the song. The whole package is a perfect fit from the instrumentation to the lyrics and production. Is it their best work? It's far from their worst... far from it. So, if you don't like the song, what is your dislike? There is nothing wrong at all with having different a opinion, but simply saying it's a "bad Electronic track" gives little insight or argument to your comments. Take me on a journey into the song through your ears.

It's a classic to me.. well nothing like 'Dreams Never End' or 'Everything's Gone Green' but still a great track from an era which didin't show New Order at their best. Not even near.

Worst NO song? :laugh::laugh::laugh:

You've got to be fuckin' kidding! Have you heard "Slow Jam"?

Any other band would kill to have written such a great come-back single.

I'd love to hear what you think is a good NO song!

TPK. Dream Attack. Here to Stay. And, from the same album, World and Everyone Everywhere.

Regret will never be a favourite of mine  Just think it's boring and it certainly doesn't ROCK like Barney seems to imply at Reading ....

Regret is a classic New Order song, but not one that comes to mind immediately when I think of the band. It's not in my top 10 or anything, but it's quite good. I just have to be in the right mood for it.

Perfect pop song, definately in my top 10 NO favourites. Can't understand how any NO fan can dislike it?

Maybe not, but it can be wrong.

Yep, good point (see TPK v Dream Attack poll for evidence!!!:D )

Regret is a NO classic but certainly not from a classic album and from Hooky's perspective it is one of few tracks his bass playing can actually be heard on the album. However it is still my opinion that Stephen Hague was put on this planet to produce NO and would most certainly have done a better job on the previous effort Technique.

Regret really spoke to me when it first came out. It is still one of my favoutites.

After 4 years of no New Order they come back with that great single.

Next you'll be telling us that Crystal is crap. what are you trying to do piss everyone off or just cause a stirr?
