New Dawn Fades still has the ability to turn me sad after one bar, it is possibly one of the most melancholy songs ever written. Love it, but wish it didn't do what it does to me.
I love Disorder. Up until now it would have been New Dawn Fades or Insight, but I've gone for Shadowplay. It's musical perfection. It's simple but effective. Did a cover of it this weekend. It rocks.
I love the way "Disorder" not only opens the album but if you listen to the group chrolologically, it kind of opens the band itself too. I love the bass of also, of course. Tough choice overall.
New Dawn Fades.
A magnificent, haunting song and the first JD track that I really got into all those years ago. Disorder and Day of the Lords come close, but I have to say that I've never seen what it is about She's Lost Control that many seen to like. Oh well, no accounting for taste.
New Dawn Fades, but I was going to vote for Disorder until I said "humm.. yeah that's right, that's the one"...
It has always been New Dawn Fades - my fave JD song.
Everytime I listen to it I get f*cked up and the funny thing is I like the way that feels ![]()

What, f*cked up or f*cked up?? ![]()
Disorder, Day of the Lords, SLC, Insight, and NDF were my choice picks for this, but I had to go with Disorder.
'Bout time someone did one of these polls for Joy Division. There wasn't one last time we did all this. I was thinking about starting one a while back. Ok then. That's my 2 bits (25 cents).

mine too, partner!
another one to ndf
i voted for new dawn fades altough i had the live version from still pop up in my head when i voted.
nobody else like Day of the Lords then?! only one (mine) vote ! found it hard to choose right enough: several brilliant, moody and poignant tracks there ...
NDF but Shadowplay's lyrics could contain an exquisite image about cold steel odour if the comma was non existent. Perhaps it shouldn't be there because the thought of assasins smelling of cold steel is delightful.

I could only stare in disbelief......

Somehow, I knew someone would say that

I can't even vote on this one. How do you choose the best track on your favourite album? It's flawless and I find it hard to view it as individual tracks. Sorry, a big sit-on-the-fence-can't-make-a-decision one for me.
Insight or Interzone for me. I'll go with Insight, what a moving track. This is a tough one as all the tracks are great. ;)
Unknown Pleasures is much stronger as a whole album than the sum of its parts. Each song stands out for its own reason, including the haunting, eerie chords of my least favorite JD song "I Remember Nothing".
"Candidate" and "Wilderness" get my nod for most underated songs, and I'm leaning to vote fro either of these two.
"New Dawn Fades" is actually a surprise for me. Another classic.
"directionless so plain to see, a loaded gun won't set you free"
NDF
The emotion in this is unbelieveable, and the lyrics are hauntingly beautiful, as a teenager many nights were spent listening to Joy Division as I fell asleep.
Hmmmm...I never really saw al the hoopla over NDF. I mean don't get me wrong, NDF is a great song, but it's a bit over-rated me thinks.
This was a tough call for me though, even when I'm "F*cked up" as Sophie so eloquently put it earlier, I still prefer the likes of:
"Shadowplay" - Very strong tune, makes me wanna go beat up a lightpost or something...plus it's got those really deep lyrics for those quiet nights.
"Wilderness" - I have been in love with this one lately, kinda rediscovered it. I think it is up there with JD's most underrated songs.
And Lastly, my vote:
"Interzone" - Like I said in the Warsaw thread by Slippy,
makes me wanna rape a cat or something stoopid like that!!![]()
