do a search for Baldy, Stupid Fuck, I Hate Smashing Pumpkins, New Order sell out by asking OBNOXIOUS OVERRATED AMERICAN ASSHOLE to guest, Whiny Voices you HATE, Should Billy Corgan be Shot in public and then pissed on or should he be submerged in toxic acid.
That should pull up a few discussions on why Turn My Way turns my stomach. Not a bad tune but indicitive of the downhill slide NewOrder are on. Guest appearances by AWFUL, UNTALENTED SLIME will always be the festering sore on their record. As for Bobby Gillespie, isn't it time he OD'd? Useless since 91.
The instrumentals for the song I thought were very good. Even the lyrics were alright for me except the chorus. ie: "Don't wanna wash my car" Ok...have a dirty car then, I do. Not exactly stepping outside the social box or sticking it to the man is it? Oh well. It isn't a bad song.
Hey I want to wash my car, but due to water restrictions (yes it's been another hot summer) I can't. ![]()

I dunno man, cars to a lot of people are a way of life and a symbol of their being more than a mode of transport. Everybody in my surburban dwelling washes their car except me. Mine gets washed/hoovered perhaps once a year. Hell its not been serviced since 99. Im sorry I can't join in their petit borgious sunday morning car caress but then again I spend all my money indoors on gadgets, not on stupid bits of tin that rust, get damaged or nicked. Also I'm not married with kids so I don't feel the need just get the hell out of the house for an hour without the SO getting annoyed.
I would've been more satisfied if Billy Corgan just did the guitar parts, instead of the vocals. But, I've said this all before.
easy to sing about not wanting to be like others when you are rich or have managed to live off of music for 25 or so years. Not a bad song but movement has better songs.

DOUBLE CORRECT, SIR!! ![]()
I quite like Turn My Way.
Don't like Bily Corgan, but at Liverpool Olympia, he was ok, he was so pleased to be on the same stage as his heros.

Brian, stop beating about the bush and tell us what you really think!
For what it's worth, I 'appen to like TMW.
ok, honestly, i quite like Turn My Way but it's my duty at this point to blow up at any mention of Billy Corgan. Principles. Musically it's very good and after hating the "don't want to wash my car" line for two years, i finally made my peace with it while walking around town with it on headphones last fall.
They missed the boat to crossover to the post-Smashing Pumpkins alt-rock crowd here in the U.S. I can see the K-ROCK radio promos now..."The new Billy Corgan song featuring the three dudes who wrote Blue Monday" ![]()
Seriously, a chance for all these Linkin Park and Eminem fans to be schooled in fantastic music, wasted. ![]()
Here's to the next album and new single ![]()
I'm a Turn My Way fan too. Only downside is that it never appeared again after the Singing Sheep left the band. Nice little tune, mind. I can't get wound up about Corgan's inclusion because I'm, like, "Who the fuck is Billy Corgan?". The Pumpkins aren't exactly big this side of the pond so I can't take exception to them. In fact, I think I've only heard one Pumpkins track - 1979 - and then I only dug that out cos of the supposed NO influence.

Brixton? Yes, mate, thanks a lot. The Lorelei one is brilliant too.

Well, I still say New Order should let "Turn My Way" be a lesson learned to leave the soccer-mom-rock to Dave Matthews. New Order's fan are supposed to be SUBSTANCE abusers and LOW LIFE's. How dare they disrupt our BROTHERHOOD (sorry girls I should have said REPUBLIC) with an ill-advised TECHNIQUE to woo over fans who have gone soft in their aging MOVEMENTs. If the sub-par sales of their last album are any wake-up call to the coolest band ever, then GET READY cuz it should be amazing.
Who's with me?! *crickets heard chirping in background, tumbleweed rolls past, my head lowers in shame for the lamest rant ever* ![]()

I do agree. It's even maybe my fave one on GR. I even think it's a CLASSIC N.O song : Hooky's bassline, an incredible melody and very naive lyrics. Plus I kind of like BC. He wrote some fantastic songs : Disarm, Today, 1979, Perfect, Lyric, Honestly (the rest of the Zwan album is BAD though and they sucked big times live -one of the worst gig I ever saw in my life... maybe the worst one actually-)...
Well, if you were a Smashing Pumpkins fan, and are a New Order fan, than this is *the* song you have been waiting for all your life.
If you don't like Billy Corgan's voice, it might be annoying for you, and you are still waiting for them to play it with Peter singing these parts.
But as most of you know, this is indeed my favorite track off Get Ready, and I still consider this to be the best song that New Order could have released in America.. it had "Hit" written all over it....
And I still hold Oussama Ben Laden responsable for that!!!
First listen, first love.. listened to the song for 2 hours straight!
New Order should do those type of songs more often!

Who else could New Order get to sing some vocals? Robert Smith! Or better yet, Dave Gahan. :)

At least he has some dancing abilities.

At least he has some dancing abilities. But more or less embarrassing than Dave Gahan's moves?

I always thought 1979 was a rip of a Dambuilders song circa '94 or thereabouts. The bass line sounds exactly like the bass riff the Dambuilders bassist played in a tune back then. Can't remember the name though.
As for Turn My Way, I like the song, but absolutely loathe the guitar playing, it's such a limp riff, a lazy, limp, horrible piece of guitar playing at the begining of the song and during the song by and large. However I do somewhat like it, for the bass playing, and the chorus and some other qualities here and there, and I have no problem with Corgan.
