Hello,

Today is a bit of a sad day for NewOrderOnline, it seems that the site, in October used 95% of a T1 line in itself.. I checked the logs, and it seems that 90% of this was the results of the multimedia files on this site.

To be honest, I always tought this was the main feature of our site, but since July, the forum is now one of our biggest asset.

So I had to do something, the network operator put a bandwidth limit yesterday and you have probably seen the "old" problems coming back, errors and other problems like that.

So in order for the site to work properly, I had to do something. We decided to remove all the mp3s from the site, which was 60% of the bandwith use, real media being 30% of the the use also...

This means, there isn't any live concert available on the site as of now. Is it forever? We hope not, we'll find a way to have those files hosted somewhere else, but who would be interested in hosting those file.. as far as I know, there was 750 gigabytes of mp3 downloaded from this site in October..

So it had to stop.

Our policy will now be very simple... as long as the song will be a Song of the month, it will remain in mp3, after that, it will be deleted from the site.

We'll do some tests later with members to find a way to get that back, but we'll see it the site works well before, so we won't change the policy before December.

I hope you understand us, and that you will be patient and won't leave the site for that...!!

a very understandable decision! Maybe there should be some kind of system where you can only download MP3-files after a certain amount of posts? I myself would not mind if a there had to be paid a bit for the downloading. Just go out and try to buy a live recording/bootleg. It will cost you loads.

Thank god i downloaded the paris gig last night!!Thanx a lot for that.

Mario,

That's nice of you to say this (I know you have good intentions in saying this), but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that we will ever ask money for use of this website, and ESPECIALLY in return for recordings in which we have no rights. That would turn us into real pirates/bootleggers and we certainly do not want that.

Personally, I think that putting everything in RealAudio is the best option we have, even copyrightwise. Let the leechers visit another site, I don't care, really.

Seb.
